Chapter 8 Love Token

In the hospital room, sunlight poured through the window, casting a warm glow on Isabella. Henry handed a red velvet jewelry box to Robert, who opened it with a slight smile. Inside was a stunning, sunlit gemstone bracelet, a real top-tier piece.

"This was my wife's," Robert said softly. "It was our love token. She wanted it to go to Michael's wife. I hope you'll accept it as my way of making things right."

The bracelet's green hue shimmered in the light. Isabella looked at it, feeling touched but conflicted, a faint bitter smile on her lips. "Grandpa, I can't take this. Michael and I are divorced," Isabella said, her voice tinged with sadness.

"Divorced or not, I'm still your grandpa! What I give, you take!" Robert huffed, pretending to throw the bracelet on the ground. "If you don't want it, I'll smash it!"

"No, no, I'll take it, okay?" Isabella quickly said.

Robert finally smiled, but seeing Michael's sullen face, he frowned and asked cautiously, "Is there really no chance, Olivia?"

"Grandpa, if you care about me, let me live my life," she said firmly, her eyes full of determination. "I don't want to be tied down anymore."

Robert's gaze swept over Isabella's face, gradually shifting from disappointment to understanding. His love for Isabella made him heartbroken, but he realized that forcing her to stay would only make things worse.

"Alright, I'll respect your decision." Robert sighed deeply. "But can you at least stay until after my 80th birthday? It's just a few more days."

"Grandpa, that's not right," Michael said, frowning.

"How is it not right? Is it right for you to bring Grace here and force me to accept her? Grace and Zoey want to control the Johnson men and do whatever they want? No way!" Robert snapped, slapping the bed in anger. "If you still see me as your grandpa and want me to live a few more years, stay away from Grace! I will never accept her!"

Grace and Zoey, waiting outside the door, heard every word. Robert's voice was full of vigor, clearly aimed at them.

"That old man!" Grace muttered, and Zoey quickly covered her mouth, glaring. "Watch your words!"

"I'm just mad. He's almost dead, what's he so arrogant about?" Grace retorted.

"You said it yourself, he won't live much longer, so why rush? Hold onto Michael. As long as he loves you, Robert's nothing to worry about," Zoey said calmly. "He didn't agree to my marriage to Ryan, but Ryan still became my husband. If we control Ryan and Michael, the Johnson Group will be ours."

Zoey flashed a seductive smile, and Grace, convinced by her, finally calmed down.

Soon, the hospital room door swung open. Michael and Isabella walked out side by side, looking like a perfect match, but to Grace, it was an eyesore. Especially that new gemstone bracelet on Isabella's wrist—it looked way more expensive than her own.

Grace couldn't figure out why Robert was so good to Olivia but so harsh to her. But in front of Michael, Grace kept up her innocent act.

As soon as Michael stepped out, Grace lunged forward, her face full of worry. "Michael, I just heard Robert was hospitalized. I was so worried about him!" Her voice was soft and delicate, perfectly showcasing her vulnerability.

To Isabella, Grace's performance seemed especially fake, but she sighed inwardly. Michael, however, seemed completely oblivious, looking at Grace with concern, his brows furrowed.

"Don't worry, Grandpa will be fine," he said, his brow furrowed, his eyes filled with urgency.

Grace took the opportunity to get closer to Michael, a sweet smile on her face, but a hint of smugness in her eyes. She clung to Michael's arm, leaning on his shoulder, exuding unshakable intimacy. Zoey watched silently, feeling satisfied, thinking Grace had won again.

"Grace, don't worry too much. You still need to take care of your own health," Michael responded, his eyes full of concern for Grace. He was completely captivated by her delicate image, feeling a strong sense of responsibility to protect her.

A glint of triumph flashed in Grace's eyes. She thought to herself, 'Michael is still as soft-hearted as ever.'

At that moment, Isabella felt a deep sadness. She could no longer bear their intimate actions, especially seeing Michael's warm concern for Grace, which made her feel as if her heart were being torn apart.

Two years ago, Isabella suddenly fell ill at home, in so much pain that she could only make one phone call. She didn't call an ambulance; she called Michael. But what did Michael do? He didn't even come home to take her to the hospital, nor did he answer the phone.

Isabella just wanted Michael to answer the phone, but he couldn't. It turned out that Michael wasn't incapable of love; he had given all his feelings to Grace.

'Damn it!' She turned her head, unwilling to watch any longer, and silently walked around Grace, wanting to leave. However, Grace didn't want to let her leave so easily.

As Grace passed by Isabella, she suddenly lunged at her. Grace intended to pretend to sprain her ankle and fall on Isabella, using the opportunity to break Isabella's bracelet. Unexpectedly, Isabella's eyes narrowed slightly, and with a graceful movement, she dodged.

Grace fell directly in front of Isabella. Immediately, the bracelet on Grace's wrist broke into two pieces.
