Chapter 4 The Sudden Appearance of a Handsome Man
So, Hazel's fiancé, Erik, who she loved for three years, ran into a burning building to save her stepsister, not her!
Hazel's heart felt like it was being squeezed, a tearing pain. She couldn't even speak.
Back then, as soon as she got out of the hospital, Aiden shipped her off abroad.
Sure, she was sad, but it was nothing compared to the heartache she felt now.
Hazel was running outside when she heard a loud crash.
The tall circular arch in the center of the hall suddenly collapsed.
The flowers that had been arranged on it were now completely burned.
All that was left on the black frame were circles of wire and steel rings.
The frame fell and hit Hazel's leg. She fell to the ground, feeling a sudden burning pain in her leg, and she cried out in pain.
Erik, who was about to walk out the door, heard her cry. He paused and looked back at the fallen Hazel.
Then, without hesitation, he carried Bianca and rushed out.
It was like he didn't even see Hazel's pained expression and disheveled state.
The high-end wedding dress designed by a famous designer was now as disheveled as Hazel.
Hazel felt cold all over, even though the heat waves around her were about to engulf her.
She felt nailed to the spot, unable to move.
Just before she passed out, a tall man wearing a firefighter's helmet rushed into the thick smoke.
He found Hazel, saw her unconscious state, quickly bent down, slid his arms under her knees, and carried her out of the banquet hall.
When Hazel woke up again, it was the next morning.
She looked at the hospital gown she was wearing and the bandages on her leg.
She then realized she was in a hospital room.
She remembered that yesterday was supposed to be her engagement day with Erik. But then something unexpected happened, which turned out to be a lucky thing.
Before this, Erik had lied to her. And she didn't even know that he had been cheating on her with Bianca.
She should be grateful for this unexpected event, which allowed her to see Erik's true colors sooner, better than regretting it after marriage.
She looked at the blue sky and white clouds outside the hospital window, her face calm and silent.
Then a nurse pushed the door open.
Hazel turned her eyes to look.
The nurse walked in with a tray. "Bed 26, Hazel, right?"
Hazel nodded slightly. "Yes, I'm Hazel."
"You had a debridement surgery yesterday. I'm here to check your wound for any seepage."
Hazel gently moved her leg to the edge of the bed. "Thank you."
After the nurse finished checking, she told her, "Ms. Astor, you were admitted through the emergency room yesterday. Today, you need a family member to help pay the fees."
Just as Hazel was about to speak, a tall figure appeared at the door.
The man spoke steadily, "Give me the hospital bill, I'll take care of the payment."
Hazel was surprised to see a stranger in her room. And she looked up at the man with a questioning gaze.
The man was very tall, his hair almost touching the door frame. And he was extremely handsome, like a work of art sculpted by God, with deep and defined features, exuding wisdom and composure.
The top button of his shirt was undone, revealing a prominent Adam's apple.
His waist was slim, and his long legs were straight and slender under his suit pants.
Hazel marveled to herself, 'In over twenty years, I've never seen such a handsome man.'
The nurse in the room blushed and handed him the bill.
The man fixed his gaze on Hazel's face, studying her expression, then turned and left with large strides.
Hazel was a bit puzzled. Who was this handsome? He was handsome and with an extraordinary aura, like a noble from an old family. And he even paid her hospital bill.
Compared to him, Erik was nothing.
Hazel was about to lie back down.
Meanwhile, the door was opened again.
