Chapter 5 Do You Know Who I Am

Victoria nodded. "The Jones Group pays the best in town. Who wouldn't want to work there and rake in the cash?"

"So, what do you think about the president of the Jones Group?" Michael asked, trying to sound casual.

Victoria tilted her head, thinking about what she'd read online. "I heard he's super talented. The Jones Group's been killing it under his leadership, and their market value keeps going up. But he's so mysterious, never shows his face. I bet he's really ugly, like a greasy, bald, fat guy with yellow teeth and a creepy face. That's probably why he hides."

Michael was happy with the first part of her comment, but the rest made his face darken. "Why do you look so upset? Are you feeling sick?" Victoria asked, concerned.

Michael took a deep breath to calm down. He shook his head. "It's nothing, maybe I didn't sleep well last night. By the way, you can keep driving the Hello Kitty car. The company gave me a new one."

"Your sugar mama's really spoiling you," Victoria muttered under her breath, but Michael didn't catch it.

The next day, Victoria drove the Hello Kitty car to the Jones Group's parking lot. As soon as she parked, she saw a familiar face.

"Ryan, what are you doing here?" Victoria asked, surprised.

"Surprised and happy to see me?" Ryan spread his arms like he was going to hug her.

Victoria rolled up her resume and smacked him on the head. "No, and don't mess things up for me. I have an interview today."

Ryan looked hurt. "Victoria, do you really think I'm just trouble?" Victoria nodded seriously, making Ryan even more upset.

"Alright, actually, Sophia, your good friend, sent me. She was worried you might get into trouble and asked me to watch out for you." Ryan shrugged, finally explaining.

"It's broad daylight with tons of people around. How could I get into trouble? Sophia's just overthinking," Victoria said, touching her forehead in exasperation.

"I really don't need your help. Goodbye." Victoria shook her head and walked towards the Jones Group's entrance.

"No, Victoria, wait up!" Ryan chased after her.

Meanwhile, in the president's office, Michael frowned at the resumes in his hand. "Isn't today's interview just to hire Victoria? Why did you line up other candidates?" Michael asked Joseph.

Joseph smiled wryly. "Mr. Jones, you want to hire Mrs. Jones without her knowing, so I had to bring in more candidates. Otherwise, if we only interviewed her and hired her right away, she'd get suspicious."

Michael's frown eased. Joseph was indeed a clever subordinate. 'For the sake of you two, I've really gone above and beyond. If you want to hire her, just say so. Why all this drama? I'm such a fool for agreeing to this,' Joseph grumbled internally about Michael and his wife, and even about himself.

Suddenly, Joseph noticed Michael had gone silent. Looking up, he saw Michael staring out the window, his face cold. "Who's that guy next to Victoria? Find out who he is!" Michael ordered sternly.

'More work,' Joseph sighed inwardly, nodded, and left the office. Ryan's identity was actually pretty easy to uncover, something even Joseph hadn't expected. Ryan was infamous in the city's rich kid circles.

Ryan's family had made their fortune in real estate, and their luck was undeniable. They'd earned billions from real estate alone. The family was often mocked in their circle as wealthy but lacking substance.

As Michael's subordinate, Joseph knew how to make him happy. Seeing Ryan sticking to Victoria like glue, Joseph signaled to the security guard. The guard immediately stepped forward and blocked Ryan at the entrance.

"Sorry, sir. If you're not an employee or an interviewee, you can't enter the premises." The guard politely stopped Ryan, ignoring his protests.

"How dare you stop me? Do you know who I am?" Ryan shouted at the guard, but the guard didn't care.
