Chapter 8

“A pup?” I move to see from the side and he was right she was shielding a pup. “What’s a mother and pup doing on my land?” I ask myself. I link Ron to shift back and figure it out. He shifts back and throws on some basketball shorts. I still don’t trust this she wolf. “Go to her” Spike tells me. “No I don’t trust her” I answer.

She continues to growl as Ron gets closer until we hear a squeaky voice. “It’s ok Red, that’s Beta Ron and Alpha, they won’t hurt me.”

“Maria?!” Daniel calls out from the group.

“Daddy daddy!” Maria calls out.

Hearing this the she wolf moves away and lets Maria run to her father. Then she turns and tries to leave, I growl for her to shift but she keeps walking off. My tWo gammas try to surround her but she starts running and we chase her. I noticed her bloody leg and don’t want to be rough with her but she leaves us no choice. “Take her down I link them”

One jumps on her back but instead of falling like I expected, she throws him off easily. “Alpha she’s hurt,” Ron links me, “I know but she won’t stop”. I run up to her to try n knock her down but when I went in to shove her she stopped short and I ended up knocking down my 2nd gamma. Without wasting a second I jump back up and catch up to her. I nip at her wounded leg and get a hard kick to the snout. Damn this she wolf is strong. Now I really want her to shift.

All of a sudden, she trips and falls on her stomach and slides a few feet. She’s breathing really fast and shallow. I shift and tell her to shift. She growls and glares defiantly. Then she suddenly passes out as she shifts into her human form. Looking at her she’s severely hurt. “Why isn’t she healing?” Asks Ron. “Call the pack doctor and tell him to prep a room now” I say as I pick her up. The moment I scooped her up in my arms, tingles erupted, “Mate!” I growl out loud. But she can’t feel it, “alpha I know you’re shocked, we’re all shocked too but she’s bleeding out” Ron says as he grabs my shoulder.

With a nod I take off and get her to the doc. They had to do minor surgery to stitch up the internal wounds and flush the poison out her system. When she wakes I’ll find out who did this to her.

Maria told us what happened and how my mate saved her. I’m proud but confused, there aren’t many wolves strong enough to take on a vampire, least of all a high ranking one. Levius Luther, a sick bastard of a vampire and the one behind all the wolf pup snatchings in several packs.

3 days pass and she still hasn’t woken up yet. I sit by her bed and trace her face with my index finger. I whisper in her ear, begging her to wake up. I never knew I would get a second chance mate and I can’t afford to lose her now. I don’t even know who she is, she looks familiar but I can’t figure it out. If I knew which pack she’s from I could figure it out, but there’s nothing. No ID, no markings, nothing to symbolize her pack. It’s obvious she doesn’t want anyone to know who she is. But why? I kiss her forehead and leave. I have to go to alpha Black to plan an attack on the rest of the vampires involved in the child traffickings. Now the Levius is dead, it’s been easier tracking them. I stop at the door and take one last look at her in my T-shirt and shorts before heading out.

-That Night-

Sapphire’s POV

I take a sharp breath as my eyes fly open. “Enya?” I asked confused.

“I’m here Sapphire, we’re alive” she answers

“But how? Alpha Jason clearly wasn’t letting me leave”

“I don’t know, but it looks like they helped us, there’s no poison left in our body and all our wounds are healed”

Sitting up, I look around the room and realize, “Crap, this is the Alpha’s chambers. Why’d they bring me to his chambers? Are these his clothes?”

With a scoff, I pull the IV out of my arm and stand up. As I look out the window, I see that it’s dark outside. “How long have we been here?”

“I don’t know Sapphire, I think we’ve been asleep for several days” answers Enya. “Crap, we need to go”. I walk into his closet and find myself some black sweatpants and a black turtle neck sweater. For some reason his scent eases me. “Sapphire, I think he called us his mate when we passed out…”

“Don’t even start Enya, there’s no way he’s our second chance mate, wouldn’t we know?”

“We should wait until he comes back to check…”

“Enya, I’m not waiting around to be disappointed and hurt all over again. If he is our mate he’ll come find us.” I say as I jump from the balcony of his room and make my way into the forrest.

Once I make it to my check point, I notify my client that since the job was done, I’d be expecting payment within the week.

-A Week Later-

Jason’s POV

As I empty my 3rd bottle, Ron comes into my office again. “Jason, drinking yourself to sleep isn’t going to help you find her”

Ignoring him I open bottle number four, “Sigh, we found clip from one of the cameras near the perimeter behind the pack house, if you want we can watch it together” he says as he comes and sits beside me. As we watch the video, I instantly sober up as the clip shows her standing on the balcony, stealthily jumping off, and taking off into the forest. She had on one of my turtlenecks and my sweatpants, with the turtleneck coming up over her face just leaving her eyes. I thought she was fast when she brought Maria back to us but in the video she’s 3 times faster. Who are you mate?
