Chapter 4 The Seductive Charm of Him

Noticing Quinn's appraising look, Carl frowned slightly.

"Rewrite it! I want the new plan by midnight!"

He yanked off his headphones and glanced at Quinn, who was just standing there, totally spaced out. He called her name twice, but she didn't even flinch. Frustrated, he slammed the folder down on the coffee table.

The noise finally snapped Quinn out of her daze.

"Look at this!" Carl leaned back on the sofa, one hand draped over the back, the other holding his phone.

Quinn's stomach growled, but it wasn't hunger; it was this guy's looks that were just too distracting.

Carl's body was clearly the result of some serious gym time. His chest muscles were impressive, with strong, defined lines that practically glowed under the light, oozing irresistible charm.

Quinn shook her head to clear her thoughts. She sat across from him and picked up the folder, only to find it was blank.

"What's this supposed to be? A marriage agreement or a prenup?"

Carl, still scrolling through his phone, replied casually, "Three rules. You draft 'em."

He put down his phone and gave Quinn a look that was part warning, part challenge. "You set the rules, so you gotta stick to them. Got it?"

Then he went back to his phone.

Quinn looked away, feeling a bit speechless. Her new husband was turning out to be more complicated than she thought. An idea popped into her head, and she grabbed a pen to start writing.

After accidentally learning about the concept of setting three ground rules online, he found himself unsure of what rules to set, so he decided to test Quinn.

Carl was curious. He couldn't focus on his phone anymore, feeling a bit anxious.

Quinn hadn't even started speaking when Carl snatched the folder and read aloud what was written.

[The New Century Good Husband Code

  1. Both parties should respect each other's work and not make baseless accusations over work issues.

  2. Each should have their own social circles but keep appropriate boundaries and loyalty.

  3. Major family decisions should be discussed together, while minor daily matters can be handled individually.]

After reading, he frowned. This was different from the three rules he'd seen online, which were about sex, trips, and parents.

Seeing him frown, Quinn asked nervously, "Did I write something wrong?"

Just then, the doorbell rang.

"I'll get it!" Quinn quickly ran to the door. When she opened it, she was thrilled to see who it was.

"Steven, what are you doing here?"

Steven craned his neck to look at Carl.

"I was worried someone might not get what marriage is all about, so I came to check. Quinn, let's go shopping at the mall."

He added, "Carl, put on some clothes and come pick us up."

Without waiting for Quinn to respond, he took her out the door.

After they left, Carl looked at the three rules, a slight smile playing on his lips as he muttered, "Interesting!"

With bodyguards trailing them, Steven kept talking non-stop.

"Quinn, when are you thinking about having kids?"

"Huh?"

"You haven't talked about it yet? When are you planning to introduce our families? Even though you're married, we can't skip the formalities. I need to discuss the wedding banquet with your parents."

They chatted about everything related to their marriage. Steven even spilled some of Carl's past.

Quinn was shocked to learn that someone as good-looking as Carl had only been in one relationship. Seeing her reaction, Steven kept going.

"Quinn, don't be fooled by Carl's cold demeanor. In his previous relationship, they only held hands and did nothing else."

"Steven, Carl is great in so many ways. Why has he only had one relationship?"

Steven paused for a moment, then looked at the nearby mall.

"Quinn, now that you're married, this is your home too. There's no warmth in his house, not even decent furniture. Now that you're moving in, decorate it however you like. I'll cover the cost today."

Women love to shop, and Quinn was no exception. After glancing around Carl's house, she agreed with Steven.

The mall had three floors, with a sign at the entrance saying it was open 24 hours. This was her first time experiencing the lifestyle of the wealthy.

The only difference between this mall and the regular ones was that everything here looked way better in both quality and appearance, yet none of the items had price tags.

Without price tags, she didn't dare to pick anything, fearing she might choose something super expensive, beyond her budget.

Steven, however, wasn't so restrained. He directly asked the store clerk, "Do you have any of your best tea leaves in stock?"

"Mr. Ward, you're in luck. We have one last can left."

"Great, bring it to me. This is my granddaughter-in-law, her first time here. Give her a good introduction."

Quinn felt a bit embarrassed. She had come to accompany Steven, but it turned into him accompanying her.

Steven told her to pick out whatever the house needed without worrying about the cost.

Quinn saw her savings had just reached five figures in her phone. She bit her lip, thinking that this would be her home too. Spending money on her home was justified.

With the help of the sales assistant, she quickly picked out everything the house needed—pots, pans, food, drinks, even vases, flowers, and fruits.

All she had to do was say what she wanted, and the assistant would fetch it for her. Seeing the pile of items, Quinn was stunned.

Since she had already bought these necessities, she didn't say anything about returning them.

Meanwhile, Daniel, with his head bandaged, found Jake, who was deep into gambling at Willow Creek Estates.

Jake, having received money, came to gamble and didn't even know that Quinn and Emily had been taken away.

The people playing cards with him quickly got up and left upon seeing Daniel. They didn't want to mess with Daniel.

"Jake, you've got guts, daring to cheat me out of my money? Do you have a death wish?"
