Chapter 2 Ambiguity

"What’s so valuable about condoms?" Amanda complained.

Thomas ignored her, stripped the pants off the corpse, and then pushed the body into the sea.

Handing the pants to Amanda, he remarked, "Your clothes are soaked. Try these on and see if they fit."

At the moment, Amanda was wearing only a wetsuit and a short skirt, which were likely drenched. She needed to change quickly.

"No way, they belonged to that dead guy. It’s disgusting." Amanda declined.

Out here in the wild, every piece of gear was invaluable. If she weren't his employer, he wouldn't have bothered explaining.

Thomas quickly pulled on the jeans. His own pants were too thin; jeans were safer in the jungle.

He tucked the knife into his waistband, secured the items back into the wallet, and then placed everything into his bag.

Seeing Thomas put the condoms in the bag, Amanda warned him, "We could be rescued at any time. You'd better not get any ideas or you'll be in serious trouble."

Thomas laughed, clearly unimpressed. He thought Amanda didn’t understand him at all. In the wilderness, they had to do whatever it took to survive.

Yet Amanda remained arrogant, believing her status as a CEO put her above others. Thomas found this attitude insufferable.

"Oh, I know. I wouldn’t dare overreach. I’m leaving." With that, he grabbed his stick and walked away.

Watching him go, Amanda felt a surge of anger. How could he just leave her like this? Did he not care about her dignity? She was the CEO of the Robinson Group, after all!

"Get back here!" She yelled furiously. But Thomas offered no response; he was already out of sight.

"Fine, suit yourself!" Amanda fumed, stomping her foot before sitting down in a huff, her cheeks puffing with indignation.

However, the cold wind soon made her shiver, and the sight of the corpse floating in the sea terrified her. Horrific images raced through her mind, filling her with dread.

She realized she couldn’t stay here alone. Despite being a CEO, she lacked survival skills that others possessed. Tasks she usually relied on her butler and bodyguards for were now her own to handle, and she was ill-prepared for it.

Gritting her teeth, she quickly ran after Thomas, shouting, "Thomas, wait! Don’t leave me!"

Now she understood that acting superior to Thomas was useless. Without him, she was vulnerable to any danger. She needed to stick with him.

Thomas hadn't gone far. Seeing Amanda, he jested. "Amanda, what brings you here?"

Amanda lowered her head and murmured, "I realize I was wrong. I shouldn't have been so annoying. Let's move on together."

Thomas, not holding a grudge, agreed to accompany her. He whispered, "I saw a shadow earlier when I couldn't find you. It looked like a person, but they walked away without saying a word."

"Are you sure about that?" Amanda's face lit up with hope, then she shook her head. "But why didn’t it speak to you? Are you sure it was a person?"

Thomas frowned, having already puzzled over this. "That’s what worries me. If this person is hostile, we could be in trouble."

Amanda's expression grew tense and uneasy.

In the wilderness, if someone were to harbor ill intentions toward them, Amanda, with her stunning looks, would likely be in immediate danger. Her beauty was renowned, and encountering a criminal would put her at significant risk.

Thomas, on the other hand, could probably outrun the threat. So Amanda crouched down and picked up two medium-sized stones.

Thomas looked at her in surprise. "What are you doing?"

Amanda replied calmly, "We need to help each other to stay safe. If something happens to me, it'll also put you in danger."

Thomas nodded. Amanda understood the gravity of the situation and had quickly allied with him, which he found reassuring.

Thomas led the way with a wooden stick in hand, staying alert to their surroundings. Amanda followed closely behind, clutching her stones, her heart filled with anxiety.

Together, they cautiously ventured into the dense jungle, ever watchful and on edge.

Thomas remained intensely focused, his senses on high alert, watching for any sign of the mysterious person.

Gripping his wooden stick tightly, his sharp eyes scanned every nook and cranny, fearing that the stranger might suddenly leap out and attack them.

Amanda was equally tense, clutching the stones in her hands, ready to face any danger that might arise.

The atmosphere was thick with tension as they slowly made their way through the jungle. Each was prepared to defend themselves at a moment's notice.

Suddenly, Thomas felt a tickle in his ear. "Thomas, do you think you're overreacting? I don’t see anything threatening around here!"

Startled, he nearly raised his stick to strike. But he quickly realized it was Amanda, speaking softly to avoid making too much noise.

He caught a whiff of her scent, a light, fresh fragrance that momentarily distracted him. His body reacted involuntarily, and he struggled to regain control of his emotions.

Thomas reminded himself they were in a precarious situation. This was no time for stray thoughts—they needed to find the mysterious figure and ensure their safety.

However, before he could fully settle his thoughts, he felt Amanda's boobs against his back. His whole body tensed up, and he felt his blood boiling.

"Again, there's no one here!" Amanda whispered urgently.

Thomas took a deep breath to calm himself and replied, "It seems the person has already left. Step back a bit."

Amanda nodded and took a few steps backward. When Thomas turned to look at her, he found her even more captivating than before, especially her hips and long legs. Amanda noticed his distraction and blushed slightly.

Amanda muttered, "Thomas, it's quiet here; what exactly did you see?"

Thomas gave his head a quick slap to clear his mind. What was he thinking just now? This was not the time for such thoughts! He crouched down, pointing to the sandy ground.

"Before I met you, I saw a shadow and followed it here, where I found a footprint!"

"But there was no one around. That's the strange part."

"A footprint?" Amanda joined him, her gaze sweeping the sand. "I don't see any footprints here."

Thomas examined the ground closely. How peculiar! The footprint had vanished. "It was right here a moment ago. How could it disappear?"

Amanda bent down to inspect and asked, "Are you sure? Maybe it was a monkey’s. It's common to have monkeys on this island."

But Thomas was unconvinced. He was certain the footprint was human. He believed the mysterious figure was still nearby, lurking somewhere out of sight.

"We should remain cautious. We don't know what we might encounter here," He warned.

Amanda, however, was unfazed. "I don't think we need to be so on edge. There's nothing scary here."

As they argued, Amanda suddenly noticed a beautiful flower.

"Thomas, look at this flower! It's so pretty!" The vivid colors stood out brilliantly against the green jungle backdrop.

Drawn to the flower, Amanda approached it. "I need to see this up close. Come over here!" Clearly, flowers held a special charm for her.

Thomas reminded, "Be careful."
