Ch. 2 ~ Turning 18

~Olivia's POV~

Shadows linger through the cold night air. It pauses and hovers over a sign. Rain trickles down the letters of the sign making it even harder to see the words, 'Keepers Assylum for the lost.' The shadow creeps deep into the grass and continues to make its way towards the house. It slips through the crack under the door and hovers across the floor, making its way to a bed.

It slips into the shadows of the bed and whispers, "Olivia..." The girl groans in disapproval. The shadow whispers again, "Olivia.." Her eyes shoot open but she dares not move.

"Olivia.." The faint and unfamiliar voice comes again.

Quickly, she sits up. Her eyes are searching the room, but there's no one around. "Olivia..." The voice comes from by the window.

Olivia quickly gets out of bed and makes her way to the window. She yanks it open and her eyes go red. The whole room is filled with a bright red color.

"Turn off the light!" One of the other girls shouts out.

"Why is the room red?" Another asks.

Olivia is still staring at the sky in confusion, "The sky is red!"

"What do you mean?" A girl asks.

Olivia opens the curtain all the way, "Look!"

Gasps fill the air and everyone joins Olivias side. One girl is concerned, "What does it mean?"

Olivia shrugs, "A new Halloween thing?"

Another girl isn't amused, "It's a curse."

All the girls run to her bedside, "What curse?"

The girl shrugs, "Trevor was saying something about some curse that an evil witch caused a while ago..."

Olivia can't focus on what the girl is saying, because she sees shadows moving in the dark. She jumps in the air at the sight of her reflection flinching in the window. She throws the curtain shut and climbs into bed.

Her eyes barely close when the door swings open, "Good, everyone awake!" a tall and thin woman proclaims.

"Come on Abigail!" The girl with stories says.

Abigail isn't amused, "Be quiet, Tina! Just because you're my brother's latest pet, doesn't mean you're any better than the rest!"

Olivia is the first to get up, "Let them sleep. I will come and help!"

Abigail seems happy with this, "Okay!" She grabs Olivia's arm and yanks her out the door.

"Why is the sky red?" Olivia asks.

"It's part of the seven days until Halloween." She quickly replies.

Olivia can tell she's holding something back but leaves it alone. She can't shake the feeling that someone is watching her. Her body turns to the right, she see's something moving from the corner of her eye. She's expecting to see a rodent or a bug, but there's nothing but a shadow.

"What is it?" Abigail asks suspiciously.

"I thought I saw a rat.." She shakes her head, "I guess not!"

Abigail points out, "It's just a shadow!"

Olivia nods but questions, "I see the shadow but why is there a shadow?"

Abigail doesn't understand, "What do you mean?"

Olivia shrugs, "Usually you need an object to have a shadow?"

Abigail shrugs, "Maybe it's the way the light his the ceiling?"

She quickly walks past Olivia. Olivia is running after her, attempting to catch up. They get to the kitchen and Olivia gasps. The kitchen is covered in flour and smoke.

"What happened?" She asks curiously.

"I'm not sure!" Abigail's voice is filled with confusion and concern. "You clean it up and I am going to see if I can figure out who did it!"

She rushes out and Olivia starts to clean the mess. "Olivia.." She hears her name.

She rushes around the kitchen, "Who goes there?" She pauses in front of a silver bowl.

Wiping it with her clothes, she sees her reflection. It seems to be looking at her, "Olivia!"

She throws the bowl across the room, "My reflection is talking to me!"

She groans, "My 18th birthday and I find out that I'm crazy!"

"You're not crazy, your's gifted!" The voice comes from the shadows this time.

"Ugh!" Olivia jumps in shock. Turning to see a frustrated Abigail, "You haven't even started yet?"

Olivia regroups herself, "I'm sorry. I got distracted. I didn't mean to!"

A deep voice comes from behind Abigail, "Don't be so harsh. You can see she's scared!"

Abigail rolls her eyes, "Thanks for the backup, Trevor!'

"What are twins for?" He sarcastically asks.

He brushes past her and grabs a broom, "Actions speak louder than words." He tosses a duster to his sister, "Put your money where your mouth is!"

She nods and starts to dust. Trever walks up to Olivia, "Thanks for your help!" His boyish smile causes her to blush.

The three of them attempt to clean the room. They are covered in flour and smoke. Abigail is furious, "Why are we doing this?"

She twirls her fingers, "Clean this mess!" Olivia jumps in the air as the mess suddenly vanishes.

Trevor laughs a deep belly, amusing laugh. "Why didn't I think of that?" He asks in a sarcastical manner.

Olivia giggles, "That was brilliant!"

Abigail curtsies, "Thank you!"

She rushes out of the room. Olivia turns around and her chest bumps into Trevors, "Hi." His hot breath hits her in the face.

He kisses her cheek, "Want to celebrate?"

Olivia's knees buckle. She's never been touched by a man. Her body begins to give way but he catches her, "I can see the way you look at me!"

His lips take in hers. They massage each other. His hand cuffs her backside. She pulls away but he refuses to let her.

"What's wrong?" He asks.

"I'm a virgin..." She admits.

His lips take in her with hunger. Her eyes go wide and she doesn't know what to do. She needs to stop him but it's so good. His hand slips into her jeans and she moans. His fingers caress the entrance of her delicate flower.

"Stop!" Comes the voice from the shadows.

Trevor pulls away, "What?"

The shadow voice whisper shouts, "Leave!"

Trevor's face turns ghost white and he runs out of the room.
