~Ch. 7~Dreams of her

Sterling fell into a deep sleep, but it didn’t last long. He found himself walking in the woods, wondering how he got her and where he was. He paused and realized that it was just a dream. It’s hard to tell because it feels more real than life itself. He can smell the river nearby and taste the pollen in the air. The sun is beaming on his skin and warming it up.

The air is around him suddenly fills him with a smell that he cannot bare. His eyes search for the owner of this delectable smell. He must find her. He starts to run through the trees, following the smell. It doesn’t take long because she starts to run towards him.

He knows without a doubt of who it is, “Mate!” He cries out to her. His heart is pounding as she runs towards him.

He holds his arms out and gets ready for her embrace. He’s startled as she runs right through him. It’s the worse feeling in the world… Her running through him tickles and he giggles but it fades fast and is replaced with the ache in his heart that she didn’t recognize him.

He’s caught off guard when another woman runs through him. “Stop that!” He shouts but the woman doesn’t listen.

She’s too busy chasing his mate, “HEY!” He tries to shout again but another person runs through him and this time it knocks him off his feet.

“HEY!” He angrily growls and chases after them.

He is filled with horror as he watches the other woman ontop of his mate. She is hitting and kicking her, and mate is just taking it. He rushes up to his mate and grabs her hand.

For a moment all has faded but these two. Olivia can actually see him, “Mate?”

The other two pause in shock and look around for her supposed mate. Sterling nods, “Don’t let them hurt you. I am on my way, please be safe!”

He turns to the witch and shouts, “LEAVE!” His growl is so strong that the couple manages to hear it. They run away in horror.

He watched in a panic as Olivia starts to fade away, “Don’t leave me alone!”

She cries out but he cannot stop it. He wakes up panicking and checking the bed. He realizes that someone is gently patting his back. He turns to face Anne.

She looks worried, “Are you ok, dear?”

Looking at her, he feels guilty. Just a day ago, he was ready to marry her. She was perfect, all he could want but now… Now he wants her to get her hands off of him because his mate will smell her on him.

He lies between gritted teeth, “I’m good. I just…” He pauses as another vision of his mate appears. This time it’s more like a faint voice.

She’s calling to him, “Mate, mate where are you?”

Anne watches in horror as he speak outloud, “I’m here, where are you?”

Anne looks around the room, “Who are you talking to?”

His mates voice is soft, “You left me?”

He tries to reassure her, hoping that she can hear him, “No, it was just a dream!”

Her voice is getting harder to hear as she pleads, “Come to me, please!”

His heart leaps out of his chest and tears roll down his face. His shoulders intensify and his eyes grow wide at the sudden silence. He can’t hear her anymore, is she ok? Did something happen to her?

His thoughts are brough back to reality by Anne, “Who are you talking to?”

He can’t tell her that is was his mate. She’s never given him a reason not to trust her but theres something in her eyes and her voice that make him skeptical. He watches as her eyes search him intently.

“I’m talking to my wolf. He’s been hiding on me, he’s mad. I hate when it goes silent in my head.” He lies to her.

She pulls him into her arms, “It will be okay. He will be okay. I will make sure that you are both okay.”

She nuzzles his neck, “I will always be here!”

His wolf growls at her touch and for the first time ever he agrees. He pulls away and turns his back to her. She groans, “Ugh!” She flops down in the bed. Turning he back to him as well, “I don’t want to cuddle either!”

Right before he closes his eyes he hears her complaining, “I miss the old you. This you is horrible!”

He falls asleep but it doesn’t last long. His mates voice calls to him. This time it’s dark and he can’t see her. She sounds like she scared, “Mate?”

Otis’s tail is wagging and he replies, “I’m here, how are you here?”

She seems unsure, “I think were dreaming but I knew you were here because I can smell you.”

He laughs a happy laugh, “Oh really, what do I smell like?

She makes the cutest little, “hmmm.” Sound and then shyly admits, “Life the rain in a forest.”

He nods and then returns, “You smell of lavender and relaxation.”

She giggles, “So I calm you?”

He nods, “Rain is a calming tool as well?”

She immediately retorts, “Oh I love the smell of rain and trees!”

“Whats that sound?” She suddenly asks. “No, No!” She starts to scream and than everything goes black.

“MATE!” His eyes pop open in the middle of screaming.

Anne presses her hand against his chest, “I am here!”

He pushes her off of him, “Not you, you imposter!” At this points, it’s not Sterling. It’s Otis and he has had enough, “I am done playing house, I want my mate!”

He forces a horrible and painful tranformation. He runs out of the bedroom door. Anne runs after him screaming, “Otis has taken over and making a run for it!”

Her yells are caught by everyone in the caste. Other wolves try to stop him and it’s like a blood bath. One very old and angry wolf growls and mind links him, “If you chose that human, than you are done. You will never rule here!”

Sterling isn’t concerned, ‘You need me. I’m your only heir!”

His grandfather’s words are harsh and angry, “I would rather inpregnate Anne myself than to let a human be Luna!”

Anne cries out, “NO!” Her mother runs to her and hugs her and pleads to Otis, “Please don’t do this, please!”

Otis argues again, “I will find my mate and I will come back. She and I will rule together, and I promise that I will never let you hurt Anne. You so as even rub her arm the wrong way, I will end you!” He snips at his grandpas neck and ankles as a warning.

He does enough damage to cause his grandfather to fall on the ground and turn back into his human form. He rushes out the door, and into the rain. He needs to find his mate and save her, bring her home. He’s done fighting fate.
