Chapter 5

Lana’s POV

“You're looking very tense," Nikolai said, staring at Lana. He was seating quite opposite to her in the SUV. Lana was very shy, she kept looking at her hands in a very awkward way.

“I'm not tensed, I'm just trying to get myself together”, Lana said as lumps of sweat gathered around her face. She wished the ground would open up and swallow her in an instant, the awkward feeling she had when she kissed Nikolai at his house.

“So you're a student?”, he asked inquisitively looking at Lana whose face was buried in her hands.

“I- I’m a student yes”, she replied timidly.

“I see,” he adjusted his shirt and leaned forward to have a closer look at her.

“I like your passion you know but you can’t become a successful person if you keep up the habit of coming late for all your classes”. He said with an intimidating look, his emerald eyes pearing deep into Lana’s soul like he was about to devour her. She knew he was right but she didn't come to class late on purpose, she tried to defend.

“I didn't come to class late on purpose, I don't even come late for my classes at all”. She defended with her voice raised. She looked quite bold now and that was quite shocking to Nikolai.

“Hmmm, you have some temper right there Miss Lana”, Nikolai said sounding really calm than usual. His calm tone was like a rackage in Lana’s soul.

“No-N, No, I'm not hot tempered, oh my Gosh, you know what nevermind.”, She said trying to calm her mind. Nikolai’s presence was doing a lot of uncomfortable things to her and Lana wished they would get to her place on time.

“So”, Nikolai began as he adjusted his sleeves. “You babyseat people’s children to get paid huh?”.

“Yes, I do.” She replied immediately trying to wave away Nikolai's attention from her.

“And if you think I'm always late, it's not true. I woke up late, you know, after leaving your place this morning, I kinda of slept off…and, you know what, it doesn't matter”, she hurriedly ended her statement.

“Well, it's quite clear to me you're a lazy person but I must say, you have a great way with kids”. Nikolai compliment with a smirk smile on his face.

Lana was short of words, she just stared at Nikolai with so much disdain.

The car crossed a gallop point and Lana jerked, she lost balance and Nikolai quickly rushed to safe her from her fall.

“I'm fine, I'm fine, don't worry, I just lost balance, the road is quite bumpy you know.” She said trying to brush of the embarrassment from her face.

“You're not really use to luxury are you”? Nikolai's asked mockingly.

“What ? No… I have a car, you know. Rusty is just too tired, that's why I left her to have a day off today”. She replied feeling alit embarrassed.

“I can understand.” He said with a cheerful look.

“I told you you have a great way with kids, right?”.

Lana adjusted herself and replied. “Ya, I know. It's a great skill I have right there.” Her smile was weird. She quickly tried to keep her smile look.

“I must say, it's fascinating the way you made my kids fall asleep so easily.” He said curiously with a stern look that made Lana to Shiver.

“Noo… it's nothing, it's my job and I have to always be as professional as always. So putting kids to sleep, no big deal.” She smiled again. But this time she felt she was over exaggerating. The memory of those kids running around and making her life unbearable came flooding her mind. She could remember them all. Last night was a disaster. Making them watch a movie was just an idea that she had no idea where it came from.

“Is that so?. Nikolai asked as he furrowed his eye brow .

“Uhmmm, yes, I guess that's basically it”. She replied. Lana was praying this journey would quickly come to an end. It was as though her house was miles away and she was really hoping they could get there sooner.

“Alright, how about I give you a job offer?”. He asked this time his eyes were directed towards her face as she leaned in on him.

“So, what now?” She was sterned by his words.

“How about I employ you to a personal nanny for my kids?”. He said.

Lana's jaw dropped, she didn't know what to say. She surely wasn't expecting Nikolai Sinclair to want her as his children personal nanny.

“Sorry, what did you say?”. Lana asked anxiously.

“I want you to be my kids personal nanny, I'll pay you five times your regular charges, what do you say, Miss Lana?”.

“Wait, sorry, you want me to be your children’s personal nanny?”.she asked anxiously.

“Yes, Lana. look, you're great with them, so I thought maybe it will be nice if you'll just be the one taking care of them, so how much do you want?”.

The car pulled over Lana’s house, she looked outside the car window and took a deep breath. She was quite disoriented. She didn't really know how to handle the shock she was going through at the moment. Nikolai saw the confused looked on her face but decided to give her time to settle in.

“Ahhh, I don't really know about this right now. I mean your kids they are amazing buh, I wasn't really expecting this offer.” She paused.

“Are you trying to pay me off all my nanny jobs?”. She asked anxiously.

“Okay, why don't you think about it and call me when you've decided, you don't have to do it, if it's not convenient with you.” He stretched out his hands and gave her an official card.

“Call me when you've decided”.

Lana stared at the card in his hands anxiously and with her shaky hands she took it from him.

“Thank you Mr Sinclair, thanks for the ride”.
