Chapter 2:Personal assistant

Anthony's POV

I stopped by the office on returning to the country after a whole year. It wasn't that easy even though my trip was tiring. When I got to the office, I saw many new employees but I didn't bother to introduce myself to anyone. I went straight to my office with Dean behind me. Immediately I got into my office, I swung myself on the big black swivel chair behind the big mahogany desk "Haaaaaa" I exhaled sharply.

"Dean, you've been doing a great job in my absence, am impressed and am so proud of you". I complimented, with a weak smile across my face.

"Thank you sir", he retorted with glitters of excitement in his eyes.

"Now back to another phase of business where I stopped". I said as I buried my face in the desktop in front of me, ready to reply to some uncountable emails waiting to be replied to.

Dean got himself busy with some work too. But after a moment, I heard a soft knock behind the door "Come in", Dean beckoned and the door swung open, Chris and a lady probably she knew in the office cause I'd never seen her face before.

"Mr. Price, the two final candidates are here to see you". Dean hinted to me ushering them to the front of my desk.

"Uh-um, Mr. Price, my name is Chris Thompson, and I have five years of experience here at the price group" Chris introduced himself with boldness. He tilted his head up a little bit and adjusted the black tie that rested on his white long-sleeve shirt. "Now as you may have already heard, my uncle William Thompson has been in touch with... ". He added but I cut in immediately "There's no room for nepotism in this office", I warned, fidgeting with the pen in my hands playfully as I kept a strict face.

Realizing what he said, his countenance changed immediately, his brows drawn together "Mr Price, please" he pleaded.

"Leave my office now" I commanded calmly. He pouted his lips in disappointment and paced out slowly from the office closing the door behind him.

The other candidate in person of a young elegant lady swung her hands backwards, she exhaled sharply "It's nice to see and meet you, Mr. Price. My name is Aileen Cooper" her soft voice came forth as she introduced herself but I couldn't quite get her name.

"Wait, wait, wait, say your name again"

"Aileen, Aileen Cooper. Although, I've only been here for a year and I have extensive experience in administrative work and... "

"You're gonna be my new personal assistant" I cut into her words. She froze for a moment on hearing what I said "Your assistant?" Her eyes widened as she asked, unsure of my words.

"Yes, starting tomorrow" I retorted and almost immediately, my phone on the table by my right-hand side started buzzing with an incoming call. It was a call from my grandmother (Cynthia). I picked up without hesitation.

_"Hello, grandma"

_"Anthony, how can you treat your wife like this?, you left her behind for a whole year right after you got married. You know her grandma is my best friend and you make her sad, but you make me mad". Her voice thundered from the other end of the call, a flicker of anger in it.

_ I rolled my eyes exasperated by her repetitive conversation "Am sorry grandma". I pleaded but she shot again.

_"Aileen needs this apology and not me. You go see her right away. Do the needful And be a good boy"

_"I will grandma. I plan on seeing her tonight". These words seem to calm her down a little.

_"You make sure that you do". She said then she ended the call. I dropped the phone back on the table "Sorry for that, it was my grandma" I apologized to Aileen.

"No it's fine" she retorted with a warm smile.

I tilted my head in Dean's direction "Dean, can you help find me the necklace we auctioned in Paris? I'm going to use it tonight" I demanded.

Dean raised his eyebrows "You mean the Twilight?, the one you bought for $2 million? It's ready sir".

"Oh, so quick?" I blinked slowly then I shifted my gaze to Aileen. "What do you think Aileen? It sounds like a good gift for my wife?".

She looked sideways first then she pointed her hand to her chest "You're asking me?" She raised her eyebrows as her eyes widened.

"Yeah". I replied to her question followed by nodding my head in agreement.

"It sounds nice". She replied with just three words. I smiled with furrowed brows, I was speechless but then, Dean picked up from there "Just nice?, It its $2 million Aileen". He asked with the same reaction as mine.

Aileen chuckled slightly "Jewelry is a good start but, I think you might want to do something for her to show your feelings for her. I mean, you haven't seen her in a year according to your grandma, so maybe you buy her some flowers and take her out to dinner". She suggested with a warm smile, her eyes lightened up with happiness.

I nodded my head slightly with relaxed features "I like this plan. Thank you". I said, then I leaned back on my swivel chair "Would you be willing to make us some reservations?" I asked.

"Yeah, sure of course sir" She retorted without hesitation.

"I'll leave now in case you need anything, don't hesitate to call sir" she added then she gently paced out of the office, her heels clicking loudly on the marble floor leaving me and Dean behind.

"Am quite impressed with her, she's smart and demure", I remarked, narrowing my eyes slowly.

"Indeed she is sir, she is one of our most valued employees, especially in the administrative section. She's so accommodating and am sure she'll make a good personal assistant" Dean added with an assuring smile.

"Thanks, Dean, and please get the Twilight necklace ready for tonight".

"Right away sir". Dean retorted then he left the office immediately.

I swivelled my chair 360 then I fixed my eyes back on my desktop screen to continue from where I stopped.
