NEW REALITIES.

CHAPTER 3: NEW REALISTIES.

ALEENA'S POV.

Jerking awake, I abruptly sat upright, panting, gasping for breath. A surge of pain ran from the back of my head to the front, causing me to groan as I squinted my eyes.

Opening my eyes gently, I realized I was in a bed and covered with a thick furry blanket. I furrowed my brow as my eyes darted around.

Where was I? What on earth was going on?

Looking at myself, I saw that I was putting on a different cloth.

Where was the turn ceremonial dress I had on the previous night? Was the previous night all a nightmare?

"No!" I shook my head in disagreement.I knew my memory wasn't failing me, but it all seemed foggy.

I quickly got out of the wooden bed and checked my body and found no blood stains, neither was I in any form of pain, at all.

I was in total perplexity as I didn't know what was going on.

I heard the flapping wings of a little bird. Turning towards the direction of the sound, I didn't find it at the window. But I could tell it was a nightingale as it sang beautifully. But where was it? How was it not within sight, and yet I could hear it chirping so close?

Suddenly, I caught sight of the bird on a tree. I smiled when I saw the little creature. I walked close to the window and leaned on the wall. I found solace looking at the bird.

My attention was interrupted when I heard a barrel hit the bare ground and broke, startling me. I looked down and saw a man below angrily confronting another over the broken barrel.

When I looked up, there was no tree in front of me at the window. The closest tree in my direction was over five hundred meters away. All I could see were old buildings. Then I realized it was a human village.

In my state of confusion and perplexity, the door creaked open causing me to turn swiftly. I saw a young man walk in. He looked and dressed ordinarily. But I must admit, for a local, he looked handsome.

"I see you're awake," he said.

I looked at him, saying nothing in response. My silence made him feel awkward. I could tell.

"Um, why don't you head down. Mother made breakfast."

Saying that, he walked away, shutting the door behind him.

'Who is this stranger? And where am I?' I asked within myself. Somehow, I didn't feel threatened with his presence. So, I decided to head down as he had asked.

As I walked out of the room, and headed down the wooden stairs. I met the inquisitive stare of six folks who were already seated at the table. I gulped, feeling uncomfortable at how they looked at me.

"Please, come join us," the most elderly woman amongst them said with a smile. Obviously, that was who the young man referred to as mother.

I slowly walked over and sat on the empty seat beside a girl. She was about my age. From every indication, they were all humans.

"Let's dig in," the woman said, and they all began eating.

I looked at the meal before me. It was a simple meal, nothing like what I had been used to. I looked hesitantly at the meal.

"Eat up. Your food is going to get cold," the girl beside me said, smiling softly. I forced a mild smile in reciprocation and slowly began eating.

In as much as the meal wasn't what I was used to, the atmosphere of acceptance and tranquility made it a lot more enjoyable.

As we ate, I noticed how a little girl who sat directly opposite me kept staring at me. I found it awkward. Well, wasn't it obvious? A stranger was having breakfast with her.

"Your eyes are different," she said with her sweet voice.

"Yeah. I couldn't help but notice how beautiful they are, having two shades of colors," the girl beside me added.

"You mean, different colors?" I asked slowly, furrowing my brow.

"Mm-hmm," she nodded in affirmation.

I smiled mildly, covering the how rattled I was. It caused my heart to begin racing.

"What's your name?" the girl beside me asked.

I froze, not knowing what to say. I tried coming up with a name, but my head went blank.

"Why don't you leave her be, Sabrina, hmm?"

"Okay, papa," she shrugged.

"Forgive her manners. She can be a bit nosy," he said to me. I chuckled in response, saying nothing vocally.

After a little while, I was done eating.

"Thank you, for the meal," I said softly, looking down, not knowing who to direct my appreciation to.

"You're welcome," the mother responded with a smile.

I got up and headed back to the room I came from. As I looked round searching for a mirror, I found wooden bucket with water in it.

"That should suffice," I said to myself. So I walked over to it quickly.

Looking at my reflection in the water, I confirmed what the little girl said. My eyes were indeed a mixture of two colors, blue and red.

Seeing the red coloration, a cold feeling gripped me, and I recalled vividly the cold touch and red eyes of the stranger from the previous night.

Suddenly, a flood of memories swarmed my head. I heard screams of terror and wails. I felt the warmth of blood in my hands and mouth.

I got jittery, and looked at my hands. I knew for certain that all I saw were true memories, and not something my head made up. But I prayed they were not true.

I suddenly felt a hand gripping my shoulders and it startled me. I reflexively swung my arm, thrusting the person away with a minimal effort against the wall behind me.

I saw that it was the young man who had met me earlier on in the room I had sent flying.

"Oh my god! I'm so sorry," I said with a hand across my mouth.

'How did I do that?' I thought to myself.

"It's okay," he said as he got up, stretching himself, groaning.

"You've got a lot of strength for someone your size," he said, smiling.

I gazed at him stoically at that point.

"I'm Caspian," he introduced himself, stretching his hand towards me.

I looked at his hand for a few seconds, cracking my head to come up with a name.

As I was about reaching out with my hand, having came up with a name finally, we heard horses galloping through the village, passing by the house.

We both looked through the window and saw that it was not just anyone.

"The Silver Guards," I muttered. They were elite werewolf soldiers. My heart

"What are they doing here?" Caspian asked, rhetorically.

As I looked at the soldiers, amongst them was a face I could never forget.

Marcus.

I was instantaneously filled with a tempestuous rage. I unconsciously gripped the edge of the window forcefully with one hand, clenching my other fist as I looked hatefully at him.

"Stay here. Don't go outside!" Caspian said instructively to me, and headed outside.

For the Silver Guards to have come to that village, I knew there was trouble.
