INJUSTICE.

CHAPTER 5: INJUSTICE.

ALEENA'S POV.

"Seize him!" Commander Banek ordered.

As the soldiers approached Caspian's family, there was a bit of struggle as they accosted him, and bound him fetters. Of course, the struggle was expected as we were all awe struck at the claim of his involvement in my assault.

"No. This is a totally untrue. No! He was with me almost all night as a member of my council, attending to matters of the village. He left my place after the attack happened," the village head defended vehemently.

"Oh! So you're his accomplice too, eh?" Marcus asserted. "Arrest him."

"What?!" the village head's people exclaimed, and barricaded their boss.

"This is madness!" the village head said, surprised at the level of unreasonableness exhibited by Marcus as he was bound also.

"I'll show you what madness is," Marcus snarled at the village head.

I stood apart watching the injustice that befell these innocent folks. All for what? To hide a crime someone committed?

"Take them to the village square. And summon everyone back," Commander Banek instructed.

The soldiers broke through the human barricade the village head's men had formed, tossing them aside easily. They dragged the village head and Caspian's father, along with the other accused to the village square.

Caspian's family protested in tears as they followed the soldiers. I stayed put where I stood in front of the house. A lot of thoughts ran through my head. I impulsively followed them.

The soldiers knelt the three men before the crowd of villagers. They all stood helplessly and intimidatedly afraid of the werewolves.

"Here are the culprits. The ones who dared to hurt not just a royal born, but the prince's mate," Commander Banek said.

"Such insult and blow to the monarchy is punishable only by death," he added. Everyone gasped in shock, and many began sobbing.

Caspian's mother broke down in tears, crying and pleading for the life of her husband. But her plea fell on deaf ears, just as mine was.

Commander Banek nodded at the soldiers. Three drew their swords and stood behind the men.

Caspian's father sighed, remaining strangely calm in the face of death, while the rest were quavering. Caspian's looked at his family, smiling at them.

"I love you," were the last words he said to his family, wearing a beautiful smile. Tears ran down my eyes as I looked at him.

With one fell swoop, the men were executed, right before their loved ones, decapitating them.

My eyes suddenly widened at the sight of the blood spilled. I could smell it. I became jittery. A strong desire gripped me at that moment.

I noticed that my teeth extended into fangs. I was shocked to the core at what was happening. I was both confused and terrified. Thank goodness I had my face covered with the scarf.

While I battled this new found inner demons, I briefly looked and saw Caspian holding his mother tight as she had collapsed, crying in deep pain. Sabrina held the younger ones as they also cried.

I could see the fury blazing in Sabrina's eyes as she glared hatefully at Marcus, not caring she could be punished for that.

"Being the kind and just leaders that we are, we will not further impose any other punishment, like increased tributes. This should be punishment enough," Marcus said.

Looking at Commander Banek, he nodded and they began leaving, escorted by the soldiers who stood in formation, leading them to their horses.

I fought the desire with all the will-power I had in me. But resisting it had negative effects on my body. It felt like my insides were on fire. I didn't even realize when I had fallen to the ground, and I began screaming in pain as I held my stomach, curled up into a ball.

The attention of the Silver Guards and Marcus were drawn to the scene I had caused.

"What's going on?" Marcus inquired.

"It's probably someone just weeping, my lord," a Silver Guard replied.

"Find out what it is," Commander Banek ordered. So two Silver Guards headed over to where I was on the ground.

"Step aside!" one of them said in a deep voice as they walked through the crowd that had gathered around me.

Caspian's attention was drawn to that scene and he left his mother and approached.

"Hey! What's going on with you?" one of the soldiers asked, forcefully pushing me with his foot.

I groaned, trying the best I could to hold myself from giving into the crave for blood that seemed overwhelming.

"Hey! I'm talking to you," the soldier said, pushing me with his foot one more time.

The other soldier must have probably been tired of my unresponsiveness, so he bent down to grab me.

The moment I felt his grip, I immediately recalled the firm grip of the ones who had assaulted me the previous night. With speed, I reflexively pulled the Silver Guard by to the ground and bite into the side of the neck.

He choked and struggled to break free but couldn't.

The villagers gasped in fear at what they saw, moving backwards.

The other soldier drew his sword and tried to strike me. His attempt was futile as I speedily got up and was behind him before he could even swing. The quickness with which I moved seemed to make time stand still as I moved. I could sense every little thing around me in that state.

From behind, a bit into his neck, growling as I drained him.

The villagers took to their heels running for safety as they were terrified. Commander Banek, Marcus, and the Silver Guards were perplexed, not understanding what was happening.

When I was done, I tossed aside the six foot tall werewolf like he was some light bunch of hay. Honestly, I savored the taste of blood. But I didn't get the satisfaction I craved.

Then, I came to myself. I looked at my hands. I saw blood on it, just like the memory that resurfaced earlier that day.

"What's happening to me?" I asked myself as my heart started racing.

"What are you waiting for? Attack that thing!" Marcus barked the order.

Hearing his voice, I immediately switched back to the cold monster I was a while back. My gaze was fixated on him and I began advancing towards him, with claws extended.

The soldiers were no match for me as I decimated them with little effort. Some had their necks snapped, others had their hearts ripped out, while others had their limbs ripped off. It was quite the carnage that befell the Silver Guards.

Seeing what was going on, Marcus fearfully took to his heels, riding on his horse. He couldn't get far before I caught up with, suddenly appearing in front of his horse.

Scared, the horse halted causing him to fall over to the ground.

He scrambled to his feet, panting as he got defensive, shifting partially into his werewolf form.

"Are you scared, Marcus? Am I no longer weak?" I said teasing him.

He paused for a bit, he furrowed his brow. He recognized my voice.

"Alee- Aleena?" he stuttered.

As I took off the scarf, unveiling my face, his eyes widened in utter shock. He trembled, almost falling backwards.

I looked at him wickedly with the blood of the Silver Guards I had drained around my lips.

Marcus knew he was doomed at that moment.
