Chapter 3

It all makes sense now. The woman who met Brian Walker, Victoria’s stepbrother, was Emily. A week ago Brian forced his way into their house to meet Victoria. However, since the residence was heavily guarded, Brian didn’t get a chance to enter.

“Where’s Victoria? I want to see Victoria!” Brian shouted at Damien who stood calmly, while the man tried to break free from the grip of two burly bodyguards at his sides.

“Victoria is abroad. Why are you guys so ignorant?” Damien looked at Brian sarcastically. The man kept trying to get to his wife.

“You’re lying! I met Victoria this afternoon!” Damien’s eyes bulged at Brian’s statement. Now who was lying? His wife hadn’t woken up from her coma.

“She doesn’t recognize me,” Brian’s voice sounded sad.

“What did you do to her?” The man’s gaze was accusing Damien.

“What you said about going abroad for treatment was to erase Victoria’s memory, right?” Damien snapped out of his thoughts. What Brian had said was impossible. There was no way Brian could have met Victoria.

“You must be hallucinating. You’d better get married quickly so you can get better mentally,” Damien said, tapping his temple with his forefinger. An important fact about Brian Walker is the man harbored feelings for Victoria. However, his wife did not know that. Victoria only thought of Brian as a brother. She treated him well, but unfortunately, Brian misinterpreted Victoria’s attitude towards him. So, the man has gone a little crazy since Victoria married him. This is the result of Damien’s analysis.

“Victoria! Victoria!” Instead of leaving, Brian yelled for his wife and that annoyed Damien. Brian’s voice interferes with his hearing. He waved a hand at the bodyguard, signaling him to remove Brian from their house.

“What kind of husband are you?” Brian tried to hold on even though he was being dragged by two bodyguards.

“You’re trying to separate Victoria from her family!” Those words made Damien, who was about to enter the house stop. He turned around and found Brian kicking the air. The man struggled to get out of his bodyguard’s grip.

“Victoria should be kept away from a family of parasites like you.” Damien said sharply then continued his intention to enter the house. Brian stopped struggling. His body suddenly went limp. His Victoria had changed quite a bit since marrying Damien. She had gotten weirder since she went abroad for treatment. Brian didn’t like that.

“Let go of me. I can go by myself,” Brian said firmly. He couldn’t be weak. At all costs, Brian had to see Victoria. The man looked at the three-story mansion with determination. He could definitely meet Victoria, the step-sister that Brian loved.

Damien played the video of the fight in the lobby as soon as he sat down in his chair. The seven minutes video was enough for Damien to judge Emily’s character. He could see that the girl did not want to make a bigger fuss, Emily just silently accepted her mother’s treatment. Damien chuckled. It was the hotel staff’s fault. If only they had immediately broken up the child and the mother, the man wearing hat wouldn’t have been able to record the video for this long. Damien stopped the video when Emily’s face was zoomed in. She was smart for standing her ground even though she wanted to fight back. Damien looked at Emily’s mole for a long time. Is it real or a make up effect?

The ringing of Damien’s cell phone snapped the man out of his thoughts. Austin’s name appeared on Damien’s phone screen.

“How was it?” Damien immediately asked Austin about the assignment he had given him.

“I’ve gotten information about Emily. Wow, Damien. I’m so surprised. I thought she was Victoria’s twin, their faces are so similar.” Damien did not comment. Whoever saw Emily must have thought it was Victoria.

“I didn’t believe there were people who looked like us in this part of the world, but after seeing Emily,” Austin didn’t continue. The shock still lingered.

“I sent it to your email,” Damien picked up the tablet in front of him and opened the email. He read Emily’s profile and found nothing negative there.

“Lime Agency?” Damien’s voice was confused.

“That’s Emily’s agency,” Austin’s answer made Damien chuckle.

“Is that an agency or a fruit market?”

“Maybe the owner likes lime,” Austin replied jokingly.

“I’ve never heard of that agency before. It must be a small agency.”

“And it hasn’t been around for a year. Emily was the first actress they brought into the entertainment world.” Damien read Emily’s profile again. Before joining Lime Agency, Emily had trained at two of the best acting academies in their city.

“Acquire the agency.”

“Huh? What did you say?” asked Austin. He was afraid he’d heard wrong.

“Acquire Lime Agency.”

“But, why?” Miller Enterprise is engaged in various fields, but entertainment is not one of them.

“I have a plan,” Damien replied softly to the man he considered his friend.

“If you can, buy the company. It also has to be fast, Austin.”

“Alright,” Austin replied even though he still didn’t know what Damien’s plan was.

“I’ll talk to the founder of the agency.” Damien put the phone on the table as soon as their call ended. He looked back at the stalled video. The girl’s face resembling his wife’s was the first stroke of luck in the man’s life. Now he would get back at the people who put his wife in a coma.

“I haven’t asked why your face was like that this afternoon,” Anna asked on their way home. The manager and the actress live in the same apartment as their agency has not been able to provide housing for the actress.

“Because of my mom,” Emily replied simply.

“So, it’s true that your mom came,” Anna murmured.

“David called me earlier and said there was a video of a woman pulling your hair,” David Brown is the CEO of their agency. He was contacted about the matter while Emily was fixing her makeup in the powder room. Emily covered her face. She deliberately didn’t touch her phone because she didn’t want to see the news that spread.

“What did Mr. Brown say?” David must have been angry about that. Emily hoped that the public would not judge her like the people in her neighborhood did.

“He was angry. But, about two minutes later she called and said the video had been deleted.” Emily immediately turned to look at her manager.

“The video got deleted?” the girl asked incredulously to which Anna nodded back.

“David is so kind,” Emily gushed. She didn’t expect her agency to deal with the video so quickly. She thought the problem would drag on because her agency is only a small agency which must be different from big agencies in dealing with their artists’ scandals.

“Yes.” Anna just mumbled in response. Somehow she wasn’t sure it was their agency that did it because the first time David contacted her, he was furious.

“Now I can focus on acting. Things like this won’t happen again.” Anna smiled at Emily’s encouragement. True, this unyielding girl could definitely become a successful actress.
