Chapter 4

“Mr. Miller,” David Brown greets Damien as he enters his office. He hit the jackpot when Damien’s personal assistant visited and offered to acquire his agency. David had no reason to refuse especially after Austin said Miller Enterprise would pay double for his shares. He couldn’t throw away the opportunity. The agency he built must have gotten bigger under Miller Enterprise.

David invited Damien to sit on the sofa. He was practically his boss now that he owned seventy percent of the agency.

“Austin explained everything, right?” Damien placed his right leg on top of his left leg as he sat on the not-so-soft sofa. He looked at David seriously.

“Yes, sir.” The man replied after looking at Austin who was standing beside Damien.

“There will be many changes in the agency, from management to the recruitment of potential artists. Everything has to be the best.” David just nodded. He would follow whatever Damien said.

“No one should know that Lime Agency has been acquired but you.” Damien emphasized his words.

“Of course, Sir. I haven’t told anyone yet,” Damien raised one eyebrow.

“I didn’t mean to,” the man stammered.

“How many aspiring artists are there at this agency?” Damien already knew, but he wanted to see what David Brown was like as CEO. Did he know the people under his agency?

“Four. And we’re still recruiting.”

“Publish one more artist,” Damien pleaded after a brief silence.

“And your first actress,”

“Her name is Emily Davis, Sir. You don’t have to worry. Lime Agency should be big soon. Emily is talented. Her acting is very good.” Damien didn’t really care. He didn’t have time to look up artists in his country. His purpose in coming here was not to hear compliments about Emily.

“Where is she? I want to see her.” David rounded his eyes at Damien’s request. Why would he want to meet Emily? Had he met her before and wanted to do the usual entertainment stuff?

“I’ll call the manager.” Damien watched the man talk on his cell phone and then looked at his watch. There was still forty minutes to go before he left town.

“She’ll be here soon.” David smiled at Damien.

“In one year, how many target jobs can you get for Emily?”

“Two, Sir. one movie and one series.” Damien just looked at David flatly, making the man feel awkward. Actually, he hadn’t planned anything for Emily yet. David was still waiting for the public’s reaction to Emily’s first role. It was a good thing that the hair-pulling video was quickly dealt with by Damien. Otherwise, Emily would have had a hard time surviving in this entertainment world.

“Five.”

“Huh?” Suddenly David couldn’t think. What did five mean?

“Get five projects for Emily every year. I’ll sponsor her.” Damien’s last statement took David and Austin by surprise. David had expected this, but hearing Damien say it outright was shocking. Where did Emily meet their country’s conglomerate? Meanwhile, Damien’s assistant wondered what his boss was up to. Firstly acquiring a non-famous agency, secondly sponsoring Emily. There was no way Damien was interested in the girl.

“Very well, Sir.” David didn’t know what else to say.

“Promote her as much as possible. Is Emily still taking acting classes?” David was silent for a long time. Due to lack of capital, David only hired an acting teacher before Emily did her job.

“Only occasionally, Sir.” Damien narrowed his eyes. This agency has many flaws.

“Take note of that, Austin.”

“But, Emily has studied at a good acting academy before.” The sound of knocking interrupted David’s speech. The man quickly walked towards the door. He was happy to find that Emily had arrived. David invited Emily to enter.

“You,” Emily was surprised to find the person who saww her crying two days ago in her CEO’s office. Damien just stared at Emily, he didn’t smile.

“Leave us alone for a moment,” Damien asked the two men there. David looked at Damien and Emily in turn, still curious about their relationship.

“What’s their relationship?” David asked Austin. His question could still be heard by both Damien and Emily. However, Austin ignored David.

“Thanks for the coffee,” Emily said after the two men left. She was actually nervous because Damien had been staring at her intently. She wondered how the person she met two days ago had ended up at her agency. There was no way he was an artist here either. However, it was possible that the man had just joined their agency.

“No need. I just happened to be passing by and you seemed to need it more.” Emily grimaced inwardly because she didn’t need the coffee. She didn’t like the bitter taste. Emily only liked the meaning of Damien’s gesture of giving her coffee. He cared. Damien could have ignored Emily, but he didn’t and chose to approach her.

“Damien Grissham Miller.” Damien reached out and Emily shook his hand.

“Emily Davis.” They stared for a long time, until Damien pulled his hand away first.

“Have a seat.” The man sat back on the sofa as if David’s office was his own. Emily did as Damien said even though she felt strange about the man’s attitude of comforting her.

“I want to propose a deal with you,” Damien looked at Emily seriously. He was confident Emily would accept his proposal given the girl’s background as well as her money-crazy mother. Not only on Emily, Damien also checked her family background.

“Take my wife’s place.” Emily blinked her eyelids slowly. She must have heard wrong.

“What did you say?”
