Chapter 5

“Replace my wife,” Damien repeated, still as serious as before. Was this guy in his right mind? They had just met and he said that right away. Emily assessed Damien’s appearance. His suit looked expensive, his face portrayed a smart person, but why did he speak like an immoral person? Replacing his wife? He must be out of his mind.

“You don’t seem to be aware of saying that,” Damien raised one eyebrow. Was Emily hinting that he was under the influence of alcohol or drugs?

“I’ll sponsor you.” Emily squinted at Damien. Who did he think he was? Emily may have come from a small agency, but that didn’t mean she would do anything to get famous.

“You are mistaken if you think I want to replace your wife. You’d better find another girl to satisfy your needs.” Emily said firmly and stood up. Her training was interrupted by meeting someone who had no sense.

“I’m not done talking,” Damien’s voice was low. No one had ever ignored him like Emily. However, the other person didn’t listen and continued walking towards the door.

“Emily Rose Davis!” Damien raised his voice. The girl stopped. How did Damien know her full name? Emily turned around, finding Damien who had not moved.

“Sit down,” he said calmly because after all, Damien was in control here. He would ignore Emily’s rude behavior just now because Damien needed that girl.

“How do you know my name?”

“That’s the basic thing a boss should know, right?” The girl gave Damien a confused look. Boss? Whose boss? He’s not a newly joined artist?

“I have a seventy percent stake in this agency,” Emily’s eyes rounded at that. What the hell, that was the same as Damien being in charge of the agency.

“Listen, Emily.” Damien looked straight at the girl.

“I’m not asking you to replace my wife in any real meaning. I just want you to fill in for Victoria at events. Whether it’s a family or company event,” Emily did not answer Damien. Where was his wife that he had to ask someone to fill in for her?

“I won’t offer a deal if my wife is healthy,” Damien said in response to the girl’s implied question. Emily still had no comment. No matter how difficult the situation was, she did not want to take the place of someone’s wife.

“It’s only temporary, Emily. Until my wife wakes up from her coma.” That information made Emily even more unwilling to consider his proposal. Damien was completely out of his mind. That was Emily’s assessment. Instead of praying and trying to make his wife recover, Damien was busy looking for a woman to replace his wife.

“You’d better wait for your wife to wake up, Mr. Miller.” Emily stood up. She looked at Damien for a moment and then walked to the door. His appearance was classy, but his morals were zero.

“Your video at the M Hotel,” Emily paused. However, this time she didn’t have the guts to ignore Damien. The girl immediately turned around and found Damien standing not far from her while waving the cell phone in his hand.

“I was the one who prevented it from spreading.” Damien’s statement made Emily stare at him in disbelief. Wasn’t David the one who prevented the video from spreading? Emily didn’t think she had seen Damien during the incident in the lobby.

“In an instant I can make the video spread again.” Damien said as he snapped his fingers. Emily clenched her hands tightly at Damien’s threat. Her annoyance grew as she saw the smirk on the man’s face.

“The choice is yours, Emily. Your videos are out there,” Emily’s eyes followed the cell phone Damien waved.

“Or pretend to be my wife.” Damien never thought he’d have to use a video of Emily and her mom fighting to get the girl to agree to his offer. He thought Emily would immediately agree just with the lure of sponsorship. The man approached Emily. He handed her a business card.

“Think about my offer,” Damien looked at Emily seriously.

“I’m giving you two days. Call me.” Damien waved the cell phone again in front of the girl’s face before leaving.

Emily squeezed Damien’s business card tightly. What could she do if it was like this? There must be many netizens who are not in favor of her. Emily was happy that the video was not spread online. It turns out that rich people can also have nothing to do until they have to threaten small people like her.

Emily opened her fist, looking at Damien’s crumpled business card. She thought he was nice, but in fact he was just like the others, wanting something from her. She was wrong for getting her hopes up for someone else. Only Emily could save herself and she couldn’t let her career be ruined by a woman who didn’t deserve to be called a mother.

“Emily,” David entered with a questioning expression.

“What is your relationship with Mr. Damien? Where did you meet him?”

“I don’t have any relationship with him,” David was not convinced by the girl’s answer.

“He has shares in the Lime Agency,” Emily said, asking David for an explanation. For some reason, David shrank under Emily’s gaze.

“It went so fast, Emily.” The girl sighed heavily.

“You can at least tell me. I have a right to know, right? I’m also a staff at this agency.” David grimaced at that. He didn’t know there would be such an incident either.

“I was planning to inform all employees and newcomer artists after the meeting with Mr. Damien. Only insiders, but Mr. Damien preceded me to tell you.” Emily could only sigh. David actually had no obligation to tell her. It was all up to the agency owner, she shouldn’t be upset with him.

“I’m back to training.”

“Now you can relax, Emily. You’ll get the same treatment as when you trained at your previous agency.” Emily turned her head and gave David a sharp look. She had not thought of that when she joined Lime Agency.

“I didn’t accept the sponsorship. I want my career to flow like water. I’ll make my own efforts. And it’s also the agency’s job to help their artists get to the top, right?” Emily wanted to join David’s agency because he promised to debut her quickly. He kept his promise, three months after Emily joined, the girl managed to get a supporting role in a movie that was on Deflix.

“Yes, but the agency policy is now entirely that of Miller Enterprise. Mr. Damien said you should come first. So, I will do that.” Emily gave David a long look. Now Damien was the boss of her boss which meant he was also Emily’s boss. Why was everything so complicated? She couldn’t possibly leave Lime Agency since she was already under contract for three years.

“Whatever.” The girl left her boss’s office feeling upset. If only Damien had only acted as her new boss, Emily would have been happy to have that luxury. The girl deeply regretted that Damien’s attitude was not what she expected. She didn’t need two days to think because Emily had already decided by now. However, she did not contact Damien immediately. Let him anxiously await for her decision.

“What exactly is your plan, Damien?” Austin, Damien’s assistant could no longer hold back his questions. He was curious about the steps Damien was taking. Austin knew the man had never been interested in the entertainment industry. However, buying shares of Lime Agency and sponsoring Emily Davis? That was not an ordinary thing.

“You didn’t do it because of the girl who looks like Victoria, right?” Damien’s hand that was signing the file stopped moving, then he resumed his signature again.

“Is it really because of that girl?” Austin asked again.

“I have a plan,” Damien put down his pen and leaned back in his chair. Damien’s gaze wandered, visions swirling in his head like a movie.

“That girl will take Victoria’s place until she wakes up.” Austin’s eyes widened.

“You can’t be serious,” Austin’s voice was soft with disbelief, as he knew Damien loved his wife dearly. How could he do that to Victoria?

“Prepare the contract, Austin. Emily definitely can’t refuse my proposal.”
