Chapter 3 An Unexpected Entrance to the Party

Ella's POV:

I couldn't bring myself to look back. The thought of seeing Samuel there, with his smug, nasty attitude, treating me like his personal prey, was too much.

But an Omega without a wolf wouldn't stand a chance against a strong Alpha. It didn't take long for Samuel to catch up.

I collapsed to my knees, gasping for air, my chest on fire.

Samuel, though, just stood there, all relaxed and smug, like he knew I'd never shake him off.

He crouched down, grabbed my chin, and sneered, "Didn't think a useless Omega like you could run this fast."

I shot him a glare, my eyes burning with anger.

I was done pretending to be submissive. No matter how much I played nice, Samuel was never gonna let me go.

"Get your filthy hands off me!" I yelled.

Samuel sneered and let go. "You really think I'd be interested in you?"

He stood up and kicked me hard, twice, spitting out, "I'll give you one more chance. If I catch you again, you're done. I'll make sure there's not a single piece of good skin left on you!"

His words sent me scrambling to my feet, stumbling forward, desperate to get away.

All I could think about was escaping him.

I knew Samuel meant every word; he was a monster who'd use the most brutal methods to torture me.

But I got lost in the forest. No matter which way I ran, Samuel was right there, blocking my path.

He was loving this game.

Just like before, he toyed with me, watching me run around in a panic.

No matter where I went, I couldn't shake him.

I was just playing into his hands. He got off on driving people to the edge and watching them beg for mercy.

I was exhausted, fear and anger eating me alive. The endless torment had me dizzy.

The whole forest spun around me, and the only thing I could see clearly was Samuel's mocking face.

His eyes said it all: there was no way out for me but death.

Finally, I stumbled into a party.

My Moon Goddess!

I'd never seen so many people!

Everyone was dressed to the nines, oozing elegance and nobility.

They held wine glasses, chatting with their equally fancy friends.

Compared to them, I felt like a total Cinderella, minus the striking beauty.

I was completely out of place, with my plain looks and ordinary clothes. Thanks to Samuel's prank, my hair was a mess, and I looked utterly disheveled.

I figured there was some big-deal party going on, and someone like me had no business being there.

I hung my head in shame, planning to slip out quietly.

But I forgot that Samuel had set me up. He wasn't gonna let me off easy; maybe this was his plan all along.

"Oh my God, Ella, how could you just crash a party uninvited?" Samuel suddenly boomed.

Everyone there was talking all calm and polite, so Samuel's yell got everyone's attention on me.

All eyes were on me, and the party went dead silent.

The curious and judgmental stares bored into me; I was itching to crawl into a hole. I wanted to explain that I hadn't meant to intrude, but I knew no one would believe me.

Samuel had nailed it. Now, in everyone's eyes, I was just a pathetic joke.

Tears welled up, and I couldn't help but sob quietly.

What had I done to deserve this?

Through my blurry vision, I saw Samuel's smug face, his lips curled in satisfaction.

To Samuel, this was a perfect prank.

To me, it was a nightmare.

People around me looked at me with even weirder expressions, whispering about me.

Someone gasped, "Oh my God, where did this lost pup come from?"

A guy pointed at me like he'd uncovered some huge secret, loudly saying, "No, I think you're mistaken. She doesn't even have her own wolf!"

As soon as he said that, everyone stared at me in shock, the tension almost suffocating.

'Run now!' I thought.

Taking advantage of the fact that Samuel wouldn't dare to confront me in front of so many people, I quickly turned around, hell-bent on running out out here.

But with my head down, I soon bumped into someone.

"Sorry, I didn't mean to!" I quickly apologized.

"It's okay," a deep male voice said above me.

I looked up to see a handsome guy in a black suit, with a beautiful blonde woman on his arm, glaring at me with malicious eyes.

'Oh my God, what have I done!' I thought.

Blushing with shame, I quickly stepped back.

But then, I caught a strange scent, like a mix of vanilla, amber, and grass.

And I was sure it was coming from the guy I had just bumped into.

I didn't know if anyone else could smell it, but it was intoxicating, inviting me to drown in it.

Having never smelled such an alluring scent before, I couldn't help but take a light sniff, wanting to inhale more.

I had to admit, I seemed to be addicted to this scent.

Although I didn't do anything inappropriate, the incident still caused quite a stir.

A gasp rippled through the crowd around me, and I sneaked another glance at the handsome guy I had bumped into, finally realizing that I might have accidentally offended someone very important.
