Chapter 2 Found You

Three years down the line, Chase Corporation had taken over Maple City like a storm.

The established leaders of Maple City were now in distress, puzzled as to why Chase Corporation, which should have been based in Starlight City—the Windsor family's stronghold—had chosen to make waves in their humble city, leaving them feeling overshadowed.

In his office, Henry was massaging his temples, feeling the fatigue from back-to-back meetings.

He instinctively opened the bottom drawer and pulled out a thick stack of papers.

Without realizing it, he had documented every little detail of Zoey's life, almost like a biography.

Zoey, the eldest daughter of the Spencer Family, had become a pawn after her dad married his mistress. Despite earning dual PhDs at a young age, she was always second fiddle to her younger sister in her father's eyes.

For the past three years, Henry had thrown everything he had into finding her, even hiring mercenaries, but he was still in the dark.

It was like Zoey had vanished into thin air.

Even keeping tabs on the Spencer Family didn't help.

"Mr. Windsor."

John knocked on the door, looking a bit nervous.

Henry snapped out of his thoughts, put the documents back, and waved John in.

John held out a phone, looking troubled.

Before he could say anything, a voice boomed from the other end. "Give him the phone!"

"It's your father." John respectfully placed the phone on the table with the speaker on.

Henry's father immediately started yelling, "You don't even answer my calls now?!"

Henry sighed, motioned for John to leave, and replied, "The company's been busy."

That only made his father angrier. "Busy with what? Those small-time operations?"

"It's been three years, and you haven't come back to see me. Are you trying to drive me nuts?"

"You insisted on setting up Chase Corporation in Maple City. Fine, it's your company; I won't meddle. But you haven't come back in three years, do you even care about me? My heart attacks are getting worse because of you!"

Henry rubbed his forehead and exhaled deeply. "Dad, I know a good cardiologist. Want me to recommend him to you?"

There was a moment of silence, then a deep breath before the yelling resumed.

After some static, a gentle voice replaced his father's. "Henry, your father is just worried about you. Look at our family, even your nephews have kids now. It's time for you to think about it too."

Henry, born when his father was older, was usually spoiled. No one in the Windsor family could control him.

"Your grandnephew is turning ten in a few days. Come back for the birthday celebration and visit us."

The call had reached John, so there was no dodging it.

Henry reluctantly agreed. "Alright."

His mother was thrilled. "Come back soon." She said a few more words before hanging up.

Henry leaned back and instructed John, "Book a flight to Starlight City."

John kept a straight face but was secretly thrilled. Finally, they were heading back to headquarters! At least he wouldn't have to keep searching for a ghost here!

Two days later, at the airport.

Henry was chilling in the VIP lounge, wearing sunglasses and resting, while John was outside handling tasks.

A chubby, bald guy nearby was talking loudly, waving his arms around, and suddenly spilled coffee all over Henry.

Henry's high-end coat was instantly stained with a dirty black mark.

The bald guy didn't even notice and kept yapping away.

Henry frowned, not wanting to deal with the hassle, and was about to call John to handle it.

Just as he reached for his phone, a clear voice cut through the air. "Hey, Mr. Baldy, shouldn't you apologize for spilling coffee on someone? Are you picking on a blind man because he can't see?"

Henry was taken aback. A blind man? Was she talking about him?

He peered over his sunglasses at the speaker. She was in a cute beige skirt, looking playful with her hair in a high ponytail, like a student.

When Henry got a good look at her face, he was stunned and slowly sat up straight.

The person he'd been searching for three years, whose every detail he had memorized, was right in front of him.

Zoey, unaware of Henry's thoughts, saw him sit up and thought he had just noticed the coffee spill. She was even more annoyed with the bald guy. "You better apologize to the blind man now, or I'll call the cops."

The bald guy, seeing she was just a girl, didn't take her seriously and sneered. "Why should I? Did you see me spill it? Do you think the cops will care about such a small thing?"

Zoey, unfazed, sneered back. "I've been a lawyer for a while. I've dealt with all kinds of tough people. Do you think I can't handle you?"

Her confidence made the bald guy hesitate.

But soon, he got angry and shouted, "What's it to you, you nosy bitch!"

He took a step forward, looking like he was about to get physical.

Zoey immediately stepped back, ready to defend herself.

Henry suddenly stood up, shielded Zoey behind him, took off his sunglasses, and stared at the bald guy. "Get lost."

Henry's eyes were so cold and intimidating that the bald guy felt a chill, making him swallow nervously.

"This coat costs more than you can afford. If you value your life, I suggest you leave now."

Hearing this, the bald guy backed down and hurried away.

Henry took a deep breath, turned to look at Zoey, and his eyes traced her features.

Zoey's heart raced under his intense gaze. How could such sharp eyes belong to a blind man?

But thinking she had intervened without asking, she felt awkward and avoided his gaze. "I guess I was being nosy."

Henry was about to speak when John's voice interrupted.

"Mr. Windsor, it's time to..." John looked at Zoey, shocked, his tone questioning as he continued, "board?"

'It's over, there's no going back,' John thought.

Zoey took the chance to say goodbye. "Looks like you have things to do. We'll be going now." She pulled the girl beside her and turned to leave.

John nervously watched Henry, praying internally not to hear those words.

"John, cancel the trip."

With just a few words, John felt like he was sentenced.

Meanwhile, Zoey and Carol Johnson left the airport. Carol couldn't help but say, "That guy was really weird. He wasn't blind, so why didn't he react? He made us look awkward."

Zoey also found him strange yet familiar, but she shook her head and didn't think much of it.

She looked up at the large "Maple City Station" sign, her eyes turning cold. She was back on this land after three years.

Three years ago, her "good father" had personally sent her as a gift; it was a betrayal that was unforgettable!

This time, Zoey would make sure to settle those old scores!
