Chapter 4 Stalking Me?

Howard's temples throbbed with tension, and he ground out the words through gritted teeth, "Elisa, how dare you talk to me like that!"

He thought, 'Elisa's getting more and more out of hand!'

Elisa sneered, "Just because I show you a little respect, doesn't mean you can act like you're the center of the universe. Do I have to wait on you hand and foot?"

Howard's headache got worse, and his face darkened. "Elisa..."

He barely got the word out before Elisa cut him off, "You need to chill and think it over. I'm willing to  get out of the way for you and Victoria; you should be happy."

He should just sign the divorce papers already, instead of grilling her with these pointless questions.

Howard was stunned, frowning deeply. "When did I ever say I wanted you to get out of the way?"

To Elisa, this sounded even weirder.

If she didn't let them be together and didn't divorce, did Howard expect Victoria to be a mistress forever?

Or maybe, Howard wanted to use Elisa as a cover to appease his family while secretly being with Victoria without giving her any pressure.

Thinking this way, Howard's earlier words made sense.

Elisa's heart sank instantly. She bit her lip and couldn't help but shout angrily, "Howard, you jerk!"

Then she hung up the phone.

She never thought the guy she liked for so many years would turn out to be like this. It was disgusting.

Luckily, she decided to divorce him in time, even though she didn't have much time left.

Elisa regretted wasting so much time on someone like Howard.

From now on, she couldn't make such mistakes again.

Looking at the disconnected call, Howard was fuming.

He pressed his temples and shouted angrily, "She's gone too far! How dare she hang up on me? Call her back!"

Was there something wrong with what he had said just now? How dared Elisa curse him!

Angus cautiously glanced at Howard's pained expression and silently handed over the painkillers and water. "Mr. Brown, maybe you should take the medicine first. Once Mrs. Brown calms down, you can talk to her properly."

In the past, Elisa had cared so much about Howard that even if they had had a quarrel, she would have come to take care of him as soon as she had seen him in pain.

But now, not only was she indifferent to Howard's headache, but she also said so many harsh words.

Angus sighed quietly. It seemed Elisa was truly angry this time.

Howard took the medicine with a gloomy face. Just as his headache started to ease, he got a call from Victoria's agent. "Mr. Brown, something happened to Victoria. An obsessive fan broke into her hotel room, and she was scared. We're at the police station now."

"What?" Howard stood up abruptly, grabbed his coat, and rushed out.

Angus stood there holding the phone, stunned. He had just wanted to ask Howard if he should call Elisa again.

Seeing how anxious Howard was about Victoria, he instantly understood Elisa's recent unusual behavior, knowing she was heartbroken.

The next day, Elisa got up early to make porridge, as it was best for Flora to eat something light when having a cold.

Flora looked at the steaming porridge and hugged Elisa with a face full of gratitude. "Elisa, you're so good."

She kissed Elisa's cheeks and once again cursed that bastard Howard for not realizing Elisa's worth.

Elisa pushed her away with a look of disgust. "Hurry up and eat your porridge. Give me the spare key; I need to go out later."

Flora handed her the key and asked, "Didn't you say you were going to write a script today?"

Elisa waved her phone's call log happily. "Luminous Pictures said they want to sign 'Restart'. I'm going over to discuss the contract."

As Elisa's popularity rose, attention from all sides increased. Many film companies knew she was working on a new project and were eager to sign it in advance.

Although 'Restart' was only two-thirds complete, it didn't affect their enthusiasm to sign it.

Those businessmen had a keen eye for opportunities and could see the profit potential in her script, which was why they were eager to get involved.

Flora's eyes lit up. She suggested as she was afraid Elisa would suffer a loss. "Since they want to sign your work, you have to be cautious and negotiate a good price."

Elisa nodded. "Okay, got it."

After breakfast, Elisa took a cab to Luminous Pictures.

Meanwhile, in the office of Arthur Wright, the boss of Luminous Pictures, Howard was sitting face-to-face with him.

Arthur frowned in difficulty. "It's not that I don't want to, but 'Restart' hasn't been signed yet. It's too early to ask me to reserve the lead role for Victoria."

Howard replied indifferently, "Victoria just returned to the country and needs a better project to stabilize her position in the domestic entertainment industry. If you give her the lead role, I'll give you that piece of land in South City."

Arthur gasped, "You're really willing to go all out for Victoria."

He looked up and down at Howard, his childhood friend, and thoughtfully said, "It's hard not to suspect that your relationship with Victoria is just like the rumors online."

Howard gave him a warning look. "Just tell me, can you do it or not?"

Arthur rubbed his chin. "I'll have to think about it and give you an answer in a few days."

He needed to come up with a good reason to refuse. After all, 'Restart' was the most important script he'd seen in years, and casting had to be careful.

Besides, he had seen Victoria's work, and her acting was indeed quite bad.

He didn't want such a good script to be ruined by Victoria, but he couldn't tell the truth to his friend of over twenty years. It was really difficult.

Howard stood up, straightening his suit. "Then give me an answer next week!"

Arthur see Howard off downstairs. As soon as they stepped out of the elevator, Howard saw a familiar figure in the company lobby. It was Elisa.

She saw him too, but after just a second of eye contact, she quickly looked away.

Arthur, beside him, gloated a little. "Why isn't your wife greeting you? Did you have a fight?"

Howard glared at him and was about to go up and question Elisa about why she was here. After a few steps, he suddenly remembered something.

His expression changed, and he walked up proudly. "Do you realized you went too far yesterday and came to apologize?"

Elisa looked up in confusion. When did she say she was here to apologize?

Howard looked her up and down, frowning slightly. "Didn't anyone tell you an apology should be sincere? Coming empty-handed—this is your idea of sincerity? Moreover, don't stalk me again. I don't like it!"
