Chapter 3 The Pieced-Together Woman

Kelvin tilted his head and glanced at Sienna. "Did you draw this portrait yourself?"

Sienna nodded. "Yeah, I checked out other cases when I got here and put these facial features together."

The missing facial features formed another person: the first victim's ear, the second victim's face, the third victim's nose, and the fourth victim's eyes—only a pair of lips was missing. But even so, this face already had the makings of a top beauty.

If the killer continued, who knew if their next target would be a victim's torso?

Kelvin was about to say something when he noticed others looking over eagerly. He handed the portrait to Travis.

Travis didn't hesitate to praise, "Sienna, your drawing is really good."

Kelvin shot Travis a glare.

Travis sheepishly touched his nose, thinking, 'Come on, I'm just trying to keep you from scolding Sienna.'

Kelvin looked back at Sienna and said, "I didn't expect you to be a forensic artist too."

In this age of comprehensive surveillance, the need for a forensic artist was rare.

Sienna shook her head. "I just learned a bit before, not an expert."

Kelvin said nonchalantly, "Since you had time to draw, you must have almost finished the autopsy. Let's hear it."

He intended to test Sienna.

Travis frowned, signaling Kelvin with his eyes.

Travis thought, 'It's Sienna's first day at work. Don't set the bar too high and scare her off. Otherwise, where else would we find another medical examiner? Female medical examiners are a scarce resource now.'

Sienna calmly began. "I also did a simple examination of the first three victims' bodies. I found that before the killer hanged them, he repeatedly made them experience the feeling of suffocation. Each of them had many abrasions and pressure marks on their necks."

Sienna took out photos of the victims. The previous forensic pathologist only did a preliminary autopsy. Over time, the strangulation marks on the victims' necks gradually became apparent.

Kelvin looked down at the photos, deep in thought.

Sienna continued, "The lack of sexual assault marks doesn't mean the killer didn't derive pleasure from them."

Travis then said in a deep voice, "The first victim, Ava Hernandez, had just broken up with her boyfriend before her death. The second, Anna Martin, had just divorced her husband. The third, Lexine Gonzalez, was single. As for Lally..."

He looked at Sienna.

Sienna said calmly, "According to Lally's friends, she changed boyfriends almost weekly. But recently, she was trying hard to pursue a man who was currently single."

Travis's eyes lit up. "So their only common trait is being single?"

Sienna nodded and added, "And most importantly, they are all outstanding and beautiful."

Even without makeup, their photos revealed their exceptional beauty.

Kelvin tapped the table. "Tell me something I don't know."

Sienna spoke slowly, "These victims came from good families and were highly capable. They were beautiful, independent, and confident. Ordinary people couldn't attract them, so the killer is likely someone from high society. He had the time to commit the crimes and the ability to erase surveillance."

She added, "Secondly, the killer might have experienced some trauma, leading him to enjoy the thrill of suffocation." A hint of sarcasm crossed Sienna's lips.

All four victims had been suffocated, leading to such a conclusion.

The killer repeatedly pushed the victims to the brink of suffocation to satisfy his twisted pleasure and revenge.

Sienna continued, "Thirdly, and controversially, there is the question of whether the woman pieced together from the victims' features really exists, and if she does, whether she is alive or dead."

She said, "The most important thing now is to find the body parts that were cut from the victims."

Kelvin raised an eyebrow, looking at Sienna, and said flatly, "With such eloquence, why do you insist on being a forensic pathologist? Wouldn't another department suit you better?"

Sienna smiled and spoke softly, "Are you complimenting me?"

Kelvin was at a loss for this gentle and delicate girl's words.

Sienna continued, "Kelvin, I don't have the authority. Could the tech team check if there's anyone in the database who resembles the sketch? I still have to perform autopsies, so I won't attend your meeting."

After speaking, Sienna didn't give Kelvin a chance to respond and returned to the autopsy room.

Kelvin felt a surge of frustration, unable to vent.

All four bodies needed to be re-examined. Sienna’s assistant, who had been with the previous forensic pathologist, somewhat looked down on her because of her young age.

Once in the autopsy room, Sienna's demeanor instantly turned cold. She put on a mask, revealing only her emotionless eyes.

She lowered her head and began the autopsy on the first victim.

Kelvin came to the forensic lab and saw Sienna skillfully extracting the victim's stomach contents, instructing the assistant to test them.

Kelvin watched the autopsy from the window as Sienna performed it.

Leroy came in once, but was scared by the autopsy scene. Despite having seen countless bodies, he still felt physically uncomfortable.

Sienna had the assistant sew up the bodies and left the autopsy room herself. She wasn't surprised by Kelvin's presence.

She simply asked, "Kelvin, do you want me to report now or wait for tomorrow's examination report?"

Kelvin crossed his arms, watching her remove her mask, and said calmly, "Now."

Seeing his urgency, Sienna didn't hesitate and began. "The contents of the first three victims' stomachs were digested, but the fourth still had undigested foie gras in her stomach, and she had been drinking. The alcohol was not commercially available beer or wine, but homemade. The specific components will be available in half an hour."

"The second victim was in the early stages of pregnancy. Her body had more wounds, suggesting sexual abuse without penetration."

Kelvin frowned. When they investigated the victim's husband, he hadn't mentioned this. Either he didn't know, or he deliberately concealed it.

At that moment, Leroy ran in again, looking grim. "Kelvin, the woman Sienna drew has been found."
