Chapter 1 Rebirth

A bright, clean room with a man and a woman tangled up naked on a big bed.

Diana Getty, with her limbs cut off and stuffed into a vase, was placed right in the middle of the room, forced to watch everything happening on the bed.

One of them was her sister, Laura Getty, and the other was her fiancé, Robert Davis, the very people responsible for Diana's current state.

Laura's bare legs were wrapped around Robert's waist, her seductive eyes filled with mockery as she looked at Diana. "Long time no see, sis!"

As soon as she saw Laura, Diana let out an angry, resentful howl. Inside her wide-open mouth was a dark void where her tongue used to be.

"Want to curse at me?" Laura giggled. "Did you forget that it was because you made me cry that Robert ripped your tongue out? And you still dare to curse at me?"

Diana was furious, cursing in her head, 'Bitch! Laura, you venomous bitch! If it weren't for me donating a kidney to you, you'd be dead by now, and this is how you repay me?'

Ignoring Diana's resentful gaze, Laura snorted, "How does it feel to watch the man you love making love to me right in front of you? Do you wish you could kill me? Too bad, between the two of us, the one who will never be loved is you, the one who will be kicked out of the Getty family is you, and the one who will die in the end is still you! Even the man you love would rather die on top of me than spare you a glance!"

Diana looked at Laura's smug face, hatred surging in her heart, letting out weak sounds of resentment.

Seeing Diana like this, Laura let out a wild, triumphant laugh.

Robert thrust violently a few times, making Laura gasp and moan, unable to resist hitting his chest. "You should be a bit more reserved in front of Diana, or she'll be heartbroken!"

Instead of holding back, Robert became even more reckless.

He gripped Laura's waist tightly, his eyes full of madness for her. "She's just a bitch, her only value is donating a kidney to you. What right does she have to make me hold back? Only you, I would give my life for you!"

"That's right, but now I'm completely healed, with no signs of rejection, so there's no need to keep her around anymore," Laura said.

"Alright, I'll give her a cup of poison later, making sure she won't be able to bother us ever again!" Robert said.

Diana's eyes widened, looking at these two bastards, hatred filling her eyes.

Even when they forced the poison down her throat, causing her to bleed from all orifices, Diana refused to close her eyes, still glaring at them. She wanted to see clearly the faces of these two vile people.

If there was a next life, Diana would definitely tear off their hypocritical masks and make them pay for what they did.

...

"Diana, just sign the papers. Laura's condition is very bad, as her sister, isn't it your duty to donate a kidney to her?"

"All these years, Laura has been fulfilling your duties in front of us. Now that you're back, you've taken everything from her. Donating a kidney to save her life is the least you can do to repay and compensate her."

"It's just a kidney, you won't die. How can you be so selfish? I'm so disappointed in you!"

Awakened by the incessant chatter in her ears, Diana opened her eyes to find herself sitting in a chair.

In front of her were Diana's parents, Aiden Getty and Emily Johnson, frowning and glaring at her with displeasure.

In Emily's arms was Laura, wearing a hospital gown.

Laura's face was pale, like a fragile vase nestled in Emily's arms, her calculating eyes fixed on Diana.

When Laura spoke, her voice was weak, "Mom and Dad, don't force Diana anymore. If she doesn't want to save me, that's fine. After all, I'm just a stranger with no blood relation to you. She indeed has no obligation to save me. It's okay, I can endure the pain of dialysis for a while longer."

Laura's kind and magnanimous demeanor instantly made Emily's heart ache.

Emily hugged Laura tightly, then harshly scolded, "Diana, how can you be so selfish! Laura finally found a match and saw hope for a cure. But as her sister, you hesitated to save her. Why are you so heartless?"

Aiden directly ordered, "I am her guardian, I have the right to make any decision on her behalf! I will sign the consent form for the surgery!"

Hearing those same words from her past life, Diana was finally convinced she had truly been reborn.

Diana was overjoyed. God had given her a second chance at life, and this time, she was determined to take control of her own destiny!

As Aiden picked up the pen to sign, Diana suddenly reached out and grabbed his wrist.

"I'm an adult now, no one has the right to make decisions for me!" Diana coldly looked at her biological parents and spoke her first words since being reborn.

In her previous life, when Laura was diagnosed with acute kidney failure and it was discovered she wasn't the biological daughter of the Getty family, they immediately found Diana, who was still in the orphanage, and brought her back.

At first, Diana thought she had finally gotten the family she had always dreamed of. She never imagined that the Getty family had long regarded Laura, who had no blood relation to them, as their own daughter after years of living together, and only saw her, their biological daughter, as a tool for matching Laura's kidney.

After discovering that Diana's kidney was a match for Laura, they began to persuade her to donate her kidney to Laura.

Whenever Laura felt unwell, they would immediately have Diana give her a blood transfusion. Every time, if she hesitated even a little, even if it was because she was feeling unwell, Laura would imply that it was because they were not blood-related that she was unwilling to help, making her seem selfish and vicious.

Just like now, when Diana stopped Aiden, Laura immediately clutched her chest, looking deeply hurt. "Diana, what did I do wrong to make you hate me so much, wishing I were dead? Do you resent me for taking Mom and Dad away? But I didn't do it on purpose, I didn't know I wasn't their daughter. Knowing I'm not their biological child hurts me more than anyone. I thought about leaving, but Mom and Dad asked me to stay. If you're unhappy, I can leave, just please don't hurt Dad!"

All Diana did was hold Aiden's hand, and Laura could twist her actions into hurting him.

And seeing Aiden's dark face, it was clear he believed Laura's words.

"Diana, what exactly do you want?" Aiden angrily slammed the table. "Do you really want to watch Laura die?"

Emily stood up in anger, raising her hand to slap Diana. "How could I have given birth to such a vicious daughter? If I had known, I would have left you in the orphanage and never brought you back!"

Seeing Emily's hand about to land on Diana's face, a gleam of triumph flashed in Laura's eyes.

Laura thought to herself, 'So what if Diana is the biological daughter of the Getty family, she still has no status in front of me. Only I am the daughter of the Getty family, and Diana could never compete with me!'

However, Emily's hand was caught in mid-air by Diana's hand.

Diana and Emily locked eyes, and Emily felt a chill from Diana's cold gaze.

She couldn't help but think, 'What is wrong with Diana, why does she suddenly seem like a different person?'

"Let go of me, how dare you fight back!" Emily angrily scolded.

Aiden was furious. "Have you had enough? What exactly do you want?"

"Not donating a kidney to Laura makes me vicious?" Diana looked at them expressionlessly. "Then what about you two? You never raised me, but demanded that I donate a kidney to her just because you're my biological parents?"

Aiden was choked, then became even angrier. "We are your parents, is this how you talk to us? Where is your upbringing?"

"I never had any parental guidance, so how good do you expect my upbringing to be?" Diana sneered, pushing Emily away, then stared at Laura. "Without my kidney, you'll die, right?"

Laura was so frightened by Diana's gaze that she took a step back, "Yes, so Diana, please..."

"Then go die!" Diana interrupted Laura, enunciating each word.

Laura's pupils shrank, thinking, 'What's wrong with Diana, why does her aura suddenly become so strong?'

In her previous life, Diana was persuaded by them, thinking that as a sister, she should sacrifice for Laura, otherwise, she was not worthy of being the daughter of the Getty family.

Diana longed for Emily and Aiden's approval, hoping they would love her as they loved Laura, so no matter how excessive the demands, she would always agree.

But Diana didn't realize that she was just pushing herself to a dead end, step by step...

Diana raised a cold, sinister smile. "Laura, I will settle our accounts one by one!"

Now, she had something more important to do.

Diana finished talking, shoved Laura aside, and started to walk away.

"Wait, don't go!" Emily rushed over and grabbed her wrist. "Sign it!"

Aiden glared at Diana. "Yeah, you're not leaving until you sign it!"

These were Diana's real parents, forcing her to donate a kidney to their adopted daughter. Anyone who didn't know better would think she was the adopted one.

Diana sneered and yanked her hand free from Emily. "In your dreams! I'm never signing it. I'd rather throw my kidney away than give it to her!"

Laura looked like she was about to cry. "Why, Diana? What did I ever do to make you hate me so much?"

Laura's pale, shaky appearance made Emily's heart ache.

Emily hugged Laura, glaring at Diana with resentment. "I never thought you'd be such an ungrateful brat! If I had known, I would've never given birth to you!"

Diana felt a chill in her heart. She looked at Emily coldly and said, "Do you think I wanted to be born to you? Having a mother like you makes me sick!"

With that, Diana walked away without looking back.

Behind her, Aiden shouted angrily, "If you leave today, don't ever think about coming back to the Getty family!"

Diana didn't look back.

Emily clutched her chest in anger, and Laura supported her, looking worried. "Mom, don't be mad. It's all my fault! It's because I didn't do well enough that Diana doesn't like me. Mom, don't force Diana anymore. If she doesn't want to donate, it's okay. I can handle dialysis, although it's tough!"

The more Laura said this, the more Emily's heart ached, and the more she hated Diana.

"Laura, you're too kind! Don't worry, I'll make her sign it!" Emily said.

Aiden also tried to comfort her. "Don't worry, she won't last a day outside the Getty family! She'll come back crying and begging us! And by then, I'll make her apologize to you."

"It's okay, Dad. I don't blame Diana. As long as she comes back, being together as a family is more important than anything!" Laura said sweetly.

Emily sneered while holding Laura. "That selfish girl doesn't deserve to be part of our family!"

Laura said a few more words to calm them down, but inside, she was thrilled.

Laura thought, 'Diana, even if you're the biological daughter, so what? You still have to serve me.'

Diana walked out of the hospital and quickly dialed a familiar number. Her heart raced as she waited for the call to connect.

Finally, a cold, low male voice answered. "Ms. Getty, what do you want now?"

Excited, Diana spoke quickly, "Mr. Spencer, I've changed my mind. I'm willing to marry you!"

Howard Spencer was silent for a moment.

Just when Diana thought she might be too late, Howard's voice came through again. "Give me a reason."

Diana bit her lip. "If I say that after thinking it over last night, I think your proposal is a good idea and I want to discuss it again, would you still give me a chance?"

Howard was silent again.

Diana bit her lip, waiting for his answer.

Finally, he spoke again, and his answer made Diana feel relieved. "Tomorrow at 9 AM, meet me at the marriage license office."

Diana let out a cheer of excitement. Even though she quickly covered her mouth, it still came through the phone to Howard's ears.

After hanging up, Howard's well-defined fingers tapped rhythmically on his desk.

"How is Diana's background investigation going?" he asked.

Howard's assistant, James Smith, quickly replied, "Ms. Getty grew up in an orphanage. After turning eighteen, she got into college and left the orphanage. She paid for all her tuition and living expenses by working during the summer and doing part-time jobs during the school year. She met her boyfriend, Robert, at one of her jobs. Robert also comes from a poor background and attended college on student loans. They have been together for two years and have a deep relationship until Ms. Getty was found by the Getty family. The Getty family seems to look down on Robert, thinking he is not good enough for Ms. Getty. This caused conflicts between them, and their most recent argument was half a month ago."

James handed over a file. The cover of the file was a photo.

Two young faces filled the photo. The girl had soft features and bright eyes that radiated happiness.

The boy, sunny and handsome, was pouting to kiss the girl's cheek. She seemed to want to dodge, but he held her waist and pulled her back.

The camera captured this lively moment perfectly, exuding a strong sense of romance.

Howard's gaze lingered on Diana's striking face, but he didn't say a word.
