Chapter 6 Accident

The Spencer Villa, nestled in a cozy suburban area with its own little garden, had this vibe of understated luxury.

Diana leaned on Sophia as they walked into the house, with Howard trailing behind, lost in his thoughts.

"Oh, by the way, I have something for you," Sophia suddenly remembered, pulling out a yellowed envelope from her pocket and handing it to Diana.

"What's this?" Diana asked, recognizing the handwriting on the envelope, her eyes filling with tears.

"It's a letter from Isabella for you," Sophia said softly, patting Diana's hand. "Isabella told me to give this to you if you married Howard within a year. If not..."

Sophia trailed off, just letting out a sigh.

Diana's eyes blurred with tears as she looked at the familiar handwriting.

"Grandma, is there still no news about Isabella?" Diana asked, her voice choked with emotion.

Sophia was silent for a moment, then sighed, "No. You know how Isabella is. If she doesn't want to be found, no one can find her."

Diana nodded tearfully, suddenly remembering the last time she ignored Isabella's advice, feeling a deep sense of regret.

Isabella was someone Diana met back when she was still in the orphanage.

Isabella had some serious skills and could tell fortunes.

When Diana was really young, Isabella warned her never to use her skills to make money before getting married. And never to tell anyone what she had learned from Isabella, or it would bring disaster.

In her previous life, Laura suddenly developed acute kidney failure and needed two million dollars for surgery. Diana had just been brought home and, to gain Emily and Aiden's approval, broke the rules and used the skills Isabella taught her to earn enough money for the surgery.

Unexpectedly, a few days later, while Diana was walking down the street, a billboard suddenly fell on her, causing her to be hospitalized for three months.

Luckily, in this life, Diana still had time to change many things.

In her previous life, Diana never saw Isabella again before she died and didn't know how heartbroken Isabella would be upon hearing of her death.

Diana's hands trembled as she opened the envelope and looked at her neat, small handwriting. She couldn't hold back any longer, and a silent tear slid down her cheek.

The letter was short, just a few sentences.

Isabella said that Diana's life would be full of hardships, so she did one last fortune-telling for her. She said Diana would face a disaster and might not live past three years. But if Diana was fortunate enough to see this letter, it meant she had survived the disaster, and her future would be smooth and peaceful, with help from benefactors.

Finally, Isabella said not to worry too much about her; when the time was right, they would meet again.

In fact, Isabella didn't teach Diana much about fortune-telling. Isabella often said that people's fates were predetermined. Forcibly changing fate could affect one's lifespan.

However, Diana was smart from a young age and learned a bit by reading some of Isabella's books.

"Diana, why are you crying?" Sophia asked, taking out a handkerchief to wipe Diana's tears, but the more she wiped, the more tears fell.

Seeing Diana's tear-streaked face, Sophia's heart ached.

She couldn't help but think Diana had been wronged before she came here.

"Howard, did you bully Diana?" Sophia glared angrily at Howard, who was following behind.

Howard sighed, "Grandma, I didn't."

"If you didn't, why is she crying so much?" Sophia frowned, clearly not believing him.

"Grandma." Seeing that Sophia was about to scold Howard, Diana quickly wiped her tears and held Sophia's hand, saying, "It's not his fault. I just miss Isabella a bit."

"You really make me worry." Sophia, feeling sorry for Diana, continued to lead her to the dining room. "Don't be sad. Isabella wouldn't want to see you like this, right? Go wash your face and get ready to eat."

"Okay." Diana obediently followed the maid to the bathroom to wash her face, then returned to the dining room and sat down.

The dining table was already filled with dishes she had never seen before.

"Diana, don't be shy. Let Howard serve you a bowl of soup to warm your stomach." Sophia smiled at the two sitting across from her.

"I'll do it myself." Diana quickly reached for the ladle but accidentally touched a warm hand.

She paused and looked up, meeting a pair of deep, unfathomable eyes.

"I'll do it." Howard's deep voice sounded, and he served a bowl of soup and placed it in front of Diana.

"Thank..." Diana said, but suddenly there was a loud bang, and the chandelier on the ceiling exploded, plunging the room into darkness.

"Grandma!" Diana immediately rushed to Sophia's side to protect her.

"What on earth is going on?" Sophia asked, frowning.

The sudden darkness caused chaos in the room, and soon a maid came over with a candelabrum. "Mrs. Spencer, it could be the old wiring in the house causing the issue. We've already called an electrician."

"Isn't the wiring in the Spencer Villa regularly inspected? Why is there a malfunction?" Howard asked coldly, frowning.

The maid visibly trembled and lowered her head even more. "I'm very sorry."

Another noise came, and the chandelier flickered, casting shadows on the faces of those in the dining room.

"Grandma, let me take you back to your room to rest, okay?" Diana looked at Sophia's suddenly pale face with concern and coaxed her gently.

Sophia was indeed frightened. She nodded lightly with her pale face.

As she helped Sophia back to her room, Diana glanced back, her cold gaze sweeping over Howard.

In the flickering light, Howard's face was very pale, and the gemstone hanging around his neck had a blood-red streak that looked even more mysterious in the dim light.

Howard watched Diana's retreating figure with a somber expression, rubbing the gemstone on his neck, his eyes filled with inexplicable emotions.

Recalling what Diana had said on the road, Howard narrowed his eyes coldly, deep in thought.

He didn't really believe what Diana had said, thinking it might be a coincidence.

As Howard pondered, the chandelier on the ceiling swayed and then crashed down heavily.

It landed right next to Howard's feet.

Howard's face changed dramatically, and he quickly took off the gemstone around his neck and stood up.
