Chapter 5

"I don't need to keep in touch with him. When my mom was alive, he leaned on me for support. After she passed, I gave him two houses. I've done more than enough," Kurt said with a sneer.

Robert quietly took in the scene. Kurt's office was decked out with a pricey painting and furniture worth tens of thousands. He even had a watch on his wrist that cost millions.

Tony and Kurt were living in completely different worlds.

Out of nowhere, Robert asked, "Mr. Lowe, did you ever get into any SM games with Tony again later on?"

Kurt froze, then looked guilty. "Tony was into hurting people. I got caught up in it back then, but I regret it now. It's the one big mistake in my life."

Kurt sighed. "After that, I cut ties with him and focused on doing good."

Robert then mixed photos of Tony's friends with Sophia's and asked Kurt to point out anyone who had serious beef with Tony.

Kurt hesitated, then picked out Sophia's photo.

"This girl," he said, smacking his forehead. "I remember ten years ago, she had a run-in with Tony. She had a knife, pointing it at him, saying she was under 16 and wouldn't get in trouble for murder."

Robert's face darkened. Sophia claimed she hadn't seen Tony and Kurt since she was eight, but Kurt said they saw her when she was 14. Who was lying?

Kurt recalled a night ten years ago. The family was waiting for Tony to come back for dinner. Before he returned, they heard someone downstairs yelling, "There's a fight!"

When Kurt went out, he saw Tony beating someone up.

The guy getting beaten was so emaciated that he appeared as though a slight breeze could sweep him off his feet.

Tony was on top of him, punching him over and over. The guy couldn't fight back at all.

"Stop it." Kurt stepped in. "If you keep going, you'll kill him."

Tony spat, "Fuck off, just 'cause you're a college student now doesn't mean you can boss me around."

The skinny guy took the chance to get up and charged at Tony again.

He looked pale and weak, but he had this fierce determination.

Before he could reach Tony, 14-year-old Sophia suddenly appeared from the crowd, wearing an oversized black jacket.

As she moved, the cold wind seeped through her clothes.

She lunged at Tony's neck with a knife. Tony blocked with his arm, tearing his down jacket and sending feathers everywhere.

She stood in front of the skinny guy with the knife, coldly saying, "I'm not 16 yet. If you hurt my dad, I'll kill you."

After recounting his memory, Kurt looked at the photo again and said, "I can't be wrong. She has those thick eyebrows and big eyes."

As they left Kurt's company, Ethan immediately asked, "Robert, what do you think of this guy? Is he trustworthy? Who's lying, him or Sophia?"

"Kurt's a bit slick. He's not very cultured, but he's definitely loaded," Robert said.

Then Robert called the police station. "Check what Sophia's dad was up to 10 years ago, any unusual behavior or conflicts."

Before they even left the building, Robert got a call. "Sophia's dad actively sought out Tony and Kurt 10 years ago, and they had a conflict. But three months after that, he died."

"What! He died?" Robert said, shocked.
