Chapter 6

As we sat in the dining hall after the wedding ceremony, I quietly watched as the dragon folk engaged in their celebrations, I felt invisible but that was fine, I didn't want anyone to notice me anyway, I'd rather not be the topic of attention.

My new husband, Sirius was speaking to an elderly man and his father as they laughed. I assumed the man was one of the war generals of the kingdom with the way he was dressed and how the fearsome Dragon King didn't make him tremble.

As the man laughed while holding Sirius' shoulder, he quietly turned to me where I was sitting at the head of the table and as soon as our eyes locked, I bashfully turned away.

This was new to me, the way I was dressed, the hearty meal in front of me, the sight of dancers and the music playing in the hall. I never got to experience this in Eldoria.

Just then, Sirius said something to the men in front of him as he began to walk towards me. I held my breath a little as he approached me before grabbing his wine glass and turning to the guests at the banquet.

"Ahem" his voice echoed and immediately the hall was filled with silence as everyone dropped what they were doing to listen to him, he had a way of commanding his people, it was like an instinct with the way he was able to command submission.

He then raised his glass and cleared his throat once more.

"This is a victory for the kingdom of Maelstrom!"

The crowd cheered.

"My father, the great dragon Morgoth has gone to the Kingdom of the moon, Eldoria, ruled by those insolent humans to bring their princess to be my bride and my mate."

The crowd cheered again with the men saluting themselves and nodding their heads in agreement.

"This marks the beginning of our plan to conquer the continent! Soon we will be able to access the power of the moon goddess and combined with the strength that we draw from the fires of our volcanoes, we will take down anyone that gets in our way! Our power will be boundless!"

The crowd roared in a loud cheer as the people clunked their glasses and sang his praises.

"Drink to your fill, my brothers! This is only the beginning of our victory!"

After this, he sat down and took a sip of his wine without sparing me a glance.

This was confusing. I thought he actually cared about me at least but I was once again fooled by my naivety and clouded trust in my captor. My place was clear now. This wasn't just an arranged marriage, it was a political strategy, to be precise, a war strategy. The prince must think that because I'm a descendant of the king, I have the powers of the moon goddess when in truth, the secret the royal family in Eldoria had been hiding was that we had lost our powers bestowed on us by the moon goddess since my great grandfather defied her and married a woman who wasn't from a royal background causing our abilities to weaken with each generation until they were practically gone.

I gulped.

If he were to find out I couldn't be useful in their plans to conquer the continent, he'd waste no time in killing me off or sending me back to Eldoria and my father had already told me I wouldn't be accepted back into the kingdom, my head began to spin as I was stuck in a dilemma. On one hand, if he were to find out, he would discard me and on another, well... I didn't know what the other would be, the only thing I knew was that I couldn't be of use to him.

The wedding banquet continued and as it neared the end, the guests had gotten drunk, some had left the hall and others were dancing. As I sat in silence waiting for it to be over, a very sweet smell caught my attention, I looked up to see where the smell was coming from and then I saw her.

She was tall with tanned skin and ivory hair that fell to her waist, she had on a red dress that was styled in the way women of Maelstrom dressed with two slits on both sides of the dress stopping exactly at her waist.

Her body looked so perfectly curvy and her amber siren eyes looked like they could captivate anyone.

As she walked, her hips swayed from side to side and I could see some of the men turning their heads to look at her while she approached Sirius with two young women behind her.

"Siri!" She said flashing a blinding smile as she waved and sat next to Sirius while disregarding my presence, she grabbed her arm and wrapped hers around his while motioning for the two young girls to move back.

"Siri, why didn't you invite me to your wedding?" She said still smiling but something told me that smile wasn't genuine and by the way she addressed him as 'Siri' instead of Prince Sirius as I had been seeing the others do, I knew she was either royalty or someone special at least.

Sirius didn't acknowledge her presence, he simply made a reaction that shocked me. As her sweet smell wafted over to us, he made a displeased expression and covered his nose while releasing his arm from her grip.

"Megara, this is not the way to greet your Prince on his wedding day" he calmly said.

"Oh.." she scoffed and looked at me. "So because of this....girl, you think you can speak to me as you wish?"

She lowered her voice but it was loud enough for me to hear.

"You might be married now but don't forget we were once lovers, don't forget that Sirius"

After saying this, she stood up abruptly and walked away with the two girls following behind her. She walked over to where some other regally dressed women were and while holding a wine glass, she glanced over at me and scoffed.
