Choice

Seth looked at Edith, who was lying facing him. Her face looked pale, almost the same colour as her blond hair. Fatigue graced her face, but it did not diminish her natural beauty.

"Can I touch your belly?"

Edith opened her eyes and fell silent. He looked at Seth and tried to understand Seth's question sentence. Not to mention that she had to accept that, at this time, she was in the presence of that man. He hated this kind of situation, but he brushed it off and succumbed to the situation. Edith would let one part of her body be slightly touched by the guy.

Edith's green eye bead penetrated Seth's defence, just like that night. He felt blood rushing all over his body. His blood vessels felt dilated, as if to support his blood flow. His body began to tremble violently. Seth immediately closed his eyes; he couldn't tell Edith the truth about himself yet. Seth turned around, avoiding the look in the girl's eyes.

"Not so; take a rest."

"I need to convince myself of all this, Seth. I'm tired of constantly quarrelling with you. Please, I need time."

"Well, Edith. I understand."

In the morning, Edith woke up suddenly. She remembered that last night she saw a pair of yellow eyes with animal bodies that were twice her height. She remembered that she fainted when the animal jumped on her.

Edith got out of bed and walked in the direction of the window. She opened her curtains and saw that the sunlight was already perpendicular, making someone outside invisible to his shadow. Edith watched carefully out the window. Outside is a yard with a large lawn.

She saw Seth, who was talking to a man who was older than him. From what Edith captured, their conversation seemed tense. The older man looked at her. He muttered, and after that, Seth was already looking towards her. He turned again towards the man and, a second later, left him alone in the yard.

Not long after the door opened, Seth had already walked into the room. He walked up to Edith and said, "Do you need anything? Lunch is being prepared; my father and mother want to see you. We will have lunch with them. I have prepared clothes for you. Get dressed."

"But I have something to say to you, Seth. Lunch? I look like this."

"It's just lunch; the occasion is not very formal, and you can tell me about it after lunch."

Edith looked at the neatly folded dress on the table opposite the sofa. Edith thought it must be a dress for herself; she decided to take a shower and wash away. She felt that her body was already very sticky; the flow of water would definitely give her freshness.

Fifteen minutes later, Seth walked in and found Edith standing in front of the mirror. Edith looked at Seth through the mirror in front of her and said, "Has it started?"

"Yes, my parents are already waiting in the dining room."

Edith looked tense; she felt like she was going to audition for the final round that would determine whether the participant would fall or not. He stepped out of the room and down the corridor. Seth walked beside him, his face full of confidence.

They came to the dining room. In the middle of the room is a large table with six chairs surrounding it. Two of the chairs were already occupied by the man who had been talking to Seth, and one was occupied by a woman who looked like Seth.

"Hello, Edith. You look pretty. Please sit down," the woman said.

"Thank you, ma'am."

Edith sat on the chair that Seth had already pulled. Edith looked towards the table; the dishes were predominantly meat preparations. The aroma of the dish aroused Edith's appetite.

"I'm glad Seth finally invited you to come here. We were especially enthusiastic when I heard Seth choose his companion. Does Seth make things difficult for you?"

"Absolutely not, ma'am."

"Just call me Hope."

"Seth has been considerate of me lately, Hope." Edith felt a little awkward having to talk casually with Hope.

"It's good then; I'm glad to hear it."

"After lunch, we will talk." The man who was talking to Seth just now finally opened his voice. His face looked firm, but his tone of speech was relaxed, like Hope's.

The conversation stopped, and the four people just focused on enjoying the dishes. Edith thought that if Seth's parents were quite friendly, it's just that when she saw Seth's father, she seemed to feel a different aura. His accent is different from Seth's; he doesn't seem to be a native British.

Now they are sitting on the sofa in the living room. Edith sat next to Seth. She felt a tense atmosphere in this room. Only Hope was still smiling, and she immediately broke the silence by saying,

"Seth has already told us about your condition. First, we want to apologise on behalf of Seth, so we want to ask you, Is there anything you want to do with your pregnancy?"

Edith felt confused about what to say; she was not even sure that she was really pregnant. She must be absolutely sure and prove it herself. She thought aloud what answer should be given by her with the etiquette of courtesy, but she also had to show her feelings at the moment.

"I really didn't know I was pregnant, Hope."

"Well. As per my advice, we go to the doctor first to make sure of that, and after that, we will follow the doctor's advice. If possible, then you can stay with us."

Edith gasped; she didn't expect to hear that sentence. Live with Seth? Just seeing that man made her upset, let alone having to live with her; her suffering could even increase.

"I still have to go to school," Edith said quietly, almost even in a whisper.

"You can do it online." The man opened his voice back.

"Calm down, dear. We will do our best for you." Hope added Seth's father's statement. She is really a woman who can break the ice.

Edith still felt frustrated, even though the support provided by Hope had calmed her down for a moment. She still wants to go to school. It felt like she wanted to baulk, but she was convinced that she had no choice if she was really pregnant. I wish she had a choice!

In this day and age, schools can indeed be done online, but what about the organization? She is running to be chairman of the committee, and the winner will be determined in two days. Edith has already taken pains to get to the final stage. She can't just give it all up.

"Seth, I'll leave it to the rest." The man only said it briefly but dignifiedly.

"Well, I get it, dad."

"I think our discussion is over. I have to hurry up." The man stared at Edith fixedly, as if she were looking for the fault that was in her. But Edith's assumption turned out to be different. Edith caught a glimpse of the man smiling warmly at the sight of herself as he walked away from the room.

Edith felt her hand being touched by something warm. She looked over, and Hope was already holding her hand. Stroking Edith's flowing blonde hair, she says, "Would I like to accompany you to the doctor?"

"Hmmm... I thought it was better for the two of us to go. I don't want to trouble you."

"Well. Feel free to ask me for help, okay?"

"Come on, Edith, we go back to the room." Seth takes over the situation. He walked first to his room, and Edith followed him. She will discuss this matter alone with the guy. Now she is in the room with Seth. Edith sat on the sofa opposite the bed, looking at Seth, who was standing opposite her.

Edith lowered her ego; she didn't want to keep feuding with Seth. She opened the conversation first. Hope's words just now are still remembered by her. Her first step should be to go to the doctor, but she wants to hear Seth's plan as well. But before it came to that talk, Edith still wanted to discuss last night's events.

"I still remember last night. Just before I was unconscious, I saw two big wolves. Did you see it too, Seth? You're definitely not far away, right? The brown wolf is like protecting me from that black wolf."

Seth had predicted that Edith would definitely remember last night's events. He became indecisive, either having to tell him the truth right now or put it off until Edith's feelings for him got better. A violent upheaval occurred in his mind. Any possible risk between the two options could have distanced him from Edith.

"Edith, I want to say something important to you."
