Chapter 4

"Does it make any difference whether I stay in the hospital or not?"

Russell wouldn't care anyway.

I lowered my eyes, my voice tinged with bitterness.

Zachary stopped in his tracks upon hearing this, looking at me with a frown.

"Get some rest." He said, suppressing the urge to curse.

I stared in the direction he left, my gaze lingering for a long time.

"Zachary." I called his name softly, my heart filled with mixed emotions, my mind hazy, and I drifted off to sleep again.

When I woke up, I felt weak and exhausted, as if my body had fallen apart.

I checked my phone and saw it was already the next day. Messages on Facebook were inquiring about my condition, offering comfort while subtly probing for information.

I quickly replied to a few messages, and before I could delve deeper, a breaking news alert popped up.

"Socialite Dorothy of the Carnegie Family caught in an affair?"

"Breaking News: The inside story of the Carnegie Family's move overseas five years ago!"

Suddenly, a flood of information about the Carnegie Family was being exposed, all of it negative.

It was clear that someone was orchestrating this behind the scenes.

The person who leaked this information had obviously planned it for a long time.

The Carnegie Family's reputation took an immediate hit, and the pressure from public opinion caused their stock to plummet, leaving them in a dire situation.

I saw the overwhelming criticism online, the scandals of the Carnegie Family, and even the investors who had always supported them were now disgusted, selling off their stocks.

At that moment, a sudden notification sound rang out.

I looked up to see a tweet rapidly gaining traction, being wildly shared across major media platforms.

The tweet contained only one sentence: "Socialite Dorothy of the Carnegie Corporation caught in an affair with a wealthy family..."

The comments below were filled with curses:

"Fuck, this Carnegie Family socialite is shameless, getting involved in someone else's relationship!"

"She's brought disgrace to the Carnegie Family!"

"These photos are clear evidence of her seducing men!"

"Pathetic!"

"Dorothy is terrifying! How could she do such a thing!"

Reading these Twitter comments and recalling Dorothy's provocative look at me, I couldn't help but feel delighted.

Just as I was about to continue scrolling, Russell's call came in at an inopportune moment.

Seeing the caller ID, my heart tightened. After a moment of hesitation, I answered the call.

Before I could speak, Russell's questioning tone came through.

"Sienna, are those online reports your doing?"

Russell's tone was somewhat aggressive.

I tightened my grip on the phone, staring out the window without blinking.

"I don't know." I replied coldly.

I didn't want to involve any innocent people in my grudge with Dorothy, especially since Russell didn't like me.

Russell seemed to have anticipated my reaction and didn't get angry at my response. Instead, his tone softened a bit: "I know you're still holding a grudge against Dorothy, but this has nothing to do with her. It's my fault."

"I hope that whatever conflicts you have with her, you can resolve them promptly. Don't escalate the situation and affect your long-standing relationship."

"You're overthinking it. There's no conflict between us, and certainly no relationship." I said indifferently and hung up the phone.

Russell's voice still echoed in my ears.

For the first time, I found his words so harsh and unpleasant.

This time, the Carnegie Family is likely to suffer.

But very few people know such secrets.

Who would reveal such explosive information at this time?

This person must be formidable, with powerful backing. Once exposed, it would be a severe blow to Dorothy.

For some reason, after seeing this news, I felt a faint anticipation of how Russell would handle this matter.

Thinking of his decisive and ruthless actions in the business world, as well as his strategic planning, I couldn't help but feel a bit expectant.

I knew very well that the only person who had a grudge against Dorothy and could dig up these old stories was Zachary.

Thinking of this, I quickly called Zachary.

The phone rang for a long time before it was answered, and a lazy, deep voice came through: "Hello."

"Zachary." I called his name softly.

Zachary was silent for a moment, seemingly sensing something unusual in my tone. His voice softened: "You're awake? How are you feeling? Is there any discomfort?"

"I'm handling something right now. Wait for me, I'll be there soon."

"Are you dealing with the Carnegie Family matter?" I asked directly.

Zachary was silent for a moment and then said, "Yes."

"My grudge with the Carnegie Family is none of your business."

My tone was firm, but Zachary disagreed: "Your business is my business. I can't stay out of it."

I pursed my lips and said nothing.

After a while, Zachary continued: "Just stay in the hospital and do nothing. I'll handle everything else."

Zachary's tone was unquestionable, and I didn't argue further.

After hanging up the phone, I continued to look at Twitter and found that some netizens were posting bottomless comments, with some even leaving messages under the tweet, suggesting that true love should prevail and I should step aside.

Damn true love!

How ridiculous, if I stepped aside, wouldn't that mean Dorothy could act without any scruples?

I sneered and used a small account to fiercely refute those comments.

Russell wanted me to take down the news?

I won't!

Not only do I want them to see this news, but I also want the Carnegie Family to be thrown into chaos because of Dorothy!
