Alpha's Revenge
My 15th birthday started like any other birthday. I woke up, took a shower, got dressed, and raced downstairs to have breakfast with my parents before heading off to school. The pack has its own school so that if anyone accidentally shifted or did anything supernatural, human eyes wouldn’t be able to see. We have to remain a secret at all costs. Nobody is ever allowed to tell a human unless that human is their fated mate, and even then, it can get tricky. You see, if you tell your human mate, and they don’t accept you, then you have to take them to a witch to get their memories wiped. If they do accept you, then you have to uproot them from their human lives and move them into the pack with you. Kinda hard to tell your parents that you’re “married” but they can’t come to visit, but you can visit them.
Anyway, lets get back to the birthday that turned my life upside down. By the way, my name is Reigna and this is my story. It will not be a great one, but buckle in and enjoy the ride. Once I made it home, my parents were not off of work yet. You see, my parents are the Alpha and Luna of our pack. Their names are Calvin and Leona Silver. They, along with their Beta Ramsey and Gamma Fredrick, run the day-to-day operations of keeping our pack safe and prosperous. We own a couple of businesses that provide jobs for our pack members and other members of the were community. We do employ some humans, but none of them hold top positions, which helps in keeping our secret. I have training after school, so I quickly went upstairs and changed into a sports bra with a tank top, some yoga pants, and sneakers before hitting the training fields. My shift won’t happen until I’m 17, since I’m an Alpha, and I can’t wait to meet my wolf. Since I haven’t shifted yet, I am only able to do combat and weapons training, which I excel at already. My trainer calls me his little ninja assassin. The name came when I successfully snuck up on the Gamma one day and took him down before he could blink. I’m known for my quiet take-downs.
Knives, swords, guns, ninja stars, nunchucks, bow and arrow, just to name a few, are all weapons that I’ve trained and mastered. My father has no other children; therefore, I am the heir to this pack when he chooses to step down and I am determined to be able to handle myself as well as protect my pack. Thankfully, we are a progressive pack and don’t believe that because I’m a girl that I cannot lead without having a man by my side. Don’t get me wrong, I welcome having a mate, but this is my pack, and he will not swoop in and claim the Alpha title simply because we are mated. I had my father draw up a contract that clearly states that if my fated mate is an Alpha, then we can combine our packs with him being the Alpha of his pack and me being the Alpha of mine. If, at any time, he does anything that causes us to break our bond, then he takes his pack back and everything he came in with and I shall do the same. He is to only own whatever business(es) he already owns and will never be put on any deeds of property that my family and I own and vice versa. The contract protects everyone involved.
After a grueling training session, I headed home for a shower and waited for my parents so that we could have cake and ice cream. We never go all out for my birthdays because I like having a quiet, intimate get-together with just my parents and me. I have friends, but they don’t understand why I don’t like to party and have their type of fun which usually involves underage drinking. I have a pack to run one day and I will not be caught in any compromising situations that could make my family or me look bad. I’m a female alpha. We are rare but we do exist. There is a female Alpha that runs the Crying Moon pack two hundred miles away from us and the woman is amazing. She gives me hope that women can do this without a man. Her mate died two years ago, but like me, she was the only daughter to an Alpha and Luna and inherited her pack. Her mate came from a neighboring pack and moved to hers instead of the tradition of going to the male’s pack.
When the new Lycan King was appointed ten years ago, he abolished having elders or councils because he said they actually caused more problems than they solved. He was correct, and I applaud him for doing so, because they really did make a mess a few years back that almost started a war. You see, sometimes different species are fated mates, but like with human mates, if that person does not accept you, then you have to let them go. That’s harder said than done, but you are supposed to reject the person, and they accept it and reject you back. Well, a vampire was mated to a wolf shifter and when she refused him, he kidnapped her and hid her away. The war part almost happened because the vampire he kidnapped was a princess to one of the most influential vampire families. Her parents said that if she was not returned that they would wage war. We aren’t scared to fight vampires, but we’ve had no reason to for decades, not since the last war. I wasn’t born then, but I heard both species were almost wiped out because of it, so a peace treaty was formed and there has been peace ever since. What that guy did almost broke the peace treaty.
