Chapter 8: The Wrong Embrace in the Night
Outside the window, a thunderbolt just streaked across the sky, followed by a downpour, the rain pouring heavily. Ava was awakened by the thunder, and she groggily opened her eyes, feeling a wave of thirst.
Ava went downstairs to the kitchen to pour a glass of water, drank it, and then went back upstairs.
Boom, boom, the thunder and lightning outside the window continued to crash.
Ava endured her fear and ran up to the second floor, opened her door, and dove into her bed.
Phew... so warm, her bed was surprisingly warm.
Ava was puzzled, and in the next second, her body was suddenly hugged tightly, and she was pulled into a firm and secure embrace, unable to move.
Thump, thump, thump, the sound of a man's strong heartbeat echoed in her ears.
Ava was immediately frightened, who? How could there be someone else in her bed?
"Vivian..."
Ryan, reeking of alcohol, pounced on her.
Hearing this voice, Ava was stunned. Why was Ryan in her bed? No, Ava strained to look around and realized she had walked into the wrong room and ended up in the wrong bed!
She had just leaped onto Ryan's bed with agility and naturalness.
Ryan was clearly drunk, utterly intoxicated, with two empty red wine bottles lying beside the bed, some residual purple liquid staining the light gray carpet.
She tried to push him away, but he didn't budge. Ava slapped his face,
"Wake up, Ryan, can you let me go first?"
Ryan half-opened his eyes, then closed them, and then grabbed her restless hands again,
"Vivian, why... why are you treating me like this?"
"Master Ryan, I'm not your Vivian, look carefully, I'm Ava." Ava pushed and shoved, but eventually ran out of strength; this man held her tight and domineeringly.
She had to admit, Ryan was very good-looking, and she did have a subtle crush on his appearance, but what was happening at this moment had already exceeded her range of acceptance, and she was somewhat resistant.
This time, a flash of lightning outside the large French window, a sharp bolt of lightning struck fiercely, leaving a terrifying blue-purple streak across the sky.
Ava's eyes widened, she was startled, and reflexively buried her head in the man's chest in front of her. The next second, Ryan hugged her tighter, his chin gently resting on her head.
"I'm here, don't be afraid, I've got you..."
Ava's body stiffened, and suddenly she didn't want to struggle anymore, a wave of touching warmth spreading throughout her body.
This situation continued until four in the morning. Ava had been sleeping restlessly and woke up in a daze, only to find that the man beside her had already let go and was sleeping on his own side.
Ava breathed a sigh of relief, quickly got out of bed, tiptoed out of the room, and went back to her own place. As she reached the door, she looked back, the man indeed had his eyes tightly closed, sleeping soundly.
She hoped he wouldn't remember what happened that night.
Ava suddenly thought of the Vivian in his words, who could she be, the woman he liked?
Ryan didn't forget her request and quickly sent a check to Ava, made out for three hundred thousand. Ava accepted it with gratitude, thinking she was finally able to get rid of the devilish Jane couple.
Daring not to delay, Ava hurried to the hospital. Her parents didn't look pleased to see her.
Her mother lay in the hospital bed, pale, looking at her, "Where did you run off to last night? You didn't answer your phone or come home. Do you know how worried your father and I were?"
Indeed, while her phone was turned off, her parents had called her several times. But it was too late, and thinking the two elders were asleep, Ava didn't return the calls and went straight to the hospital the next day.
"I'm sorry, Dad, Mom. Last night I was working on a paper with a classmate, and it got too late. My phone died, and I stayed at my classmate's house," Ava was full of self-reproach, thinking her parents must have worried all night.
"By the way, Mom and Dad, I've raised the money," Ava took a deep breath, changed her expression to a happy one the next moment, took out the check from her pocket, and waved it in front of her parents, saying, "I'm going to pay the medical expenses right now and ask the doctor to arrange the surgery for Mom immediately."
Her father's gaze inadvertently followed the check, looking astonished.
Her father stopped her, puzzled, "Where did you suddenly get so much money?"
"It's like this, I have a friend, his family is very wealthy, and he lent it to me," Ava's words were indeed correct, although she and Ryan were not friends.
Her mother became alert after hearing this, her voice immediately became very serious, "Friend? What kind of friend?"
Her mother had never heard her daughter mention such a wealthy friend before. After all, this was not a small sum. How could an ordinary person lend three hundred thousand just like that?
"Ava, you're not a child who lies. Tell us clearly, where did this money come from?" Her father was also anxious, coming closer to Ava, "Ava, you didn't take a loan from a usurer, did you?"
Ava tried to make her smile look natural, "Really not, Dad, don't think too much, it's really a good friend who lent it."
Seeing her so confident, her father and mother couldn't continue to doubt her, but her mother was still worried, "If it's really borrowed from a close friend, it should be paid back as soon as possible. Even if your father and I have to sell the house, we will pay it back. Ava, bring your friend over, and if she doesn't mind, invite her to have a meal at home."
Ava smiled, "It's okay, Mom, she's quite busy and may not have time to come over."
Her mother was cautious, shaking her head, "If she doesn't come, we can't accept this money. We won't be at ease borrowing it. Such a big favor, how can a girl like you repay it in the future? Sigh, if it really doesn't work out, let's just sell the house. Mom has come to terms with it..."
Her father also sincerely expressed that without meeting the friend who lent the money and expressing gratitude in person, they would absolutely not accept the money.
