Chapter 6: A night in Shadowclaw pack 1
Tiana’s POV
What the man in the shadow said came to pass; in less than a minute, I was free, and bodies were decapitated in disproportionate portions. I scurried away trying to hide behind a tree as the man approached me with blood splattered generously across his rock-hard chest.
Fear didn't allow me to look up at him, for fear of what I would see. The smell of blood filling the air made me scrunch my nose.
“Please don't hurt me. I am sorry if I have trespassed into your pack territory; I didn't mean to. Please just let me go. I swear to you, I will never step foot here again if you allow me to leave.” I pleaded with the man, my eyes full of fear. I prayed to the moon goddess for this man to spare my life and allow me to leave peacefully. I was telling the truth; I would never come back here if he allowed me to leave.
The sudden growl of three wolves startled me. I quickly turned around and peeked behind the tree, and I saw three men standing behind the man who had just saved me from those rogues. My heart began pounding harder like a drum in my chest. I never heard one of them approach; the men looked like well-trained warriors, and any one of them could have ended my life, and I wouldn't have seen it coming.
After staring at me for some minutes, the man who saved me finally spoke. “No one here will be hurting you. Do not be afraid of us; we weren't growling at you; it was over the fact that you think we would kill you.”
I slowly raised my head to look at the man who had just saved me; he was about 6’1’ tall, he looked slim, and he had short blonde hair. I couldn't see the colour of his eyes, as it was very dark in the forest, but I could see that he was a very handsome man and was probably in his early twenties.
“Thank you, I will leave peacefully and never come back here,” I replied to the man.
“What's your name?” He asked with his eyes fixated on me.
“Tiana,” I slowly replied.
“Okay, my name is Peter, I am the Beta of Shadowclaw pack. You don't have to be afraid; like I said, no one here is going to hurt you. Besides, it is already late, and it is not safe for you to travel in this forest alone. Please come with us to the pack house. You will be safe with us, I promise.” The man who I had just discovered that his name was Peter said to me.
I kept my face neutral. I can't trust complete strangers; it doesn't matter if they have just saved my life. I mean, look at what I had to endure from my family and fellow packmates at Moonstone Pack. If my own pack and family could treat me in such a way, how could a stranger's pack be possibly nice to me? I will just try to stay alert and on guard, comply with their wishes, and then look for a way to leave.
“OK, I won't cause any problems; I will follow you to the packhouse. I promise I wasn't trying to trespass. I will apologize to the Alpha when I see him. I hope he will also be merciful and give me grace so I can leave tomorrow.” I replied. He nodded his head in agreement and then fell in line. Peter was in front of me leading the way, one warrior on either side of me, and the last warrior walking about ten feet away from me.
After walking for a couple of minutes in silence, we exited the forest, and the pack house came into view and my heart started pounding like It wanted to escape my chest. The building of the pack house was at least four stories high, and I could tell it was well taken care of. The massive stone structure of the building made it look formidable and old, like the building itself.
As we got closer, I noticed some people standing at the entrance of the pack house, and I slowed my steps.
“Peter is everything OK,” a female voice called out, and as we got closer to them, I could clearly see that it was two women standing at the entrance of the packhouse with two warriors.
“We are all OK, Amara,” Peter replied to the lady, and he gave her a light peck on the cheek as we got to where they were standing. The lady appeared to be pregnant; I think she's a few months gone, due to how big her stomach was. I couldn't see her face clearly, but I knew she was a beautiful lady, and she had a nice curvy figure.
Peter turned to the other lady, whose eyes were clearly fixated on me. “Where is Theo?” Peter asked the lady.
“I think you know where to find,” the lady replied, her eyes now scanning me from head to toe. There was something odd about her, as she had a kind of boring look on her face, although it was hard to tell what she looked like also, but I think she was also beautiful; she had a slim figure, and it wasn't hard to tell that she worked out a lot.
Peter's eyes suddenly glowed, and without being told, I knew that he was mind-linking someone. “Common, let's go inside,” Peter said. We left the two ladies and started up the stairs.
“The pregnant lady, whom I gave a little peck on her cheek—that's my mate, Amara,” Peter said proudly as we got to the third floor of the building.
“Oh, I see. She looks beautiful,” I replied. I could see the way he was blushing when I told him that Amara was beautiful; without being told, I knew he loved her very much and would be willing to do anything for her. I felt a little bit jealous when I noticed his reaction.
“Thank you,” he finally said after what seemed like a minute. “You know she's a hybrid werewolf; her father was the first werewolf in our clan to marry a human.”
"Really?” I asked, surprised.
“Yes. She lives in the human world with her grandparents, but she came to visit her parents last year, and that was when I discovered that she was my mate.” Peter explained.
“Wow, that's amazing,” I said, shocked by my sudden discovery. “So you mean her mother, who is a human, is living in this pack, and your Alpha and fellow pack members are okay with this?”
“Yes,” he replied. But he seemed surprised by my question. He was about to say something more but stopped when we got to a door at the end of the fourth floor. “This is the Alpha’s office; he's currently out for a pack meeting, but you will meet Theo, his son and future Alpha of this pack.”
