Chapter 1

Screams.

She kept screaming till she couldn’t anymore. Her eyes were full of hatred as she thought that she was going to die in the fire without making those who wronged her pay.

She regretted trusting the wrong people and taking them as family. She wished that she had a chance, to make the right decisions for once but she understood that death was inevitable for her. That her enemies would go scott-free while she on the other side had to die for their happiness and success.

“If I had a chance, I would make those who wronged me pay!” she said coldly before darkness engulfed her.

“Mom, maybe sister forgot that we were supposed to go shopping today,” a soft voice came to her ears stunning her as she regained her consciousness.

Ivanna Bakers opened her eyes only to find herself in the room that had been hers since she was a little child She looked around as she wondered what she was doing in her room when she was already dead.

Suddenly, she saw an image of a beautiful, flawless youth getting her into more shock.

“That’s me when I was young!” she said to herself before getting out of bed ignoring the bangs at the door and walking towards her dressing table.

“That. How is it possible?” she asked in shock as she started caressing her face to feel it as if it felt like she was in a dream.

She pinched her cheek and she yelled in pain making her stare at the teenage girl on the other side of the mirror in disbelief. There, the place she had pinched had turned red as her skin was so soft and as white as a jade.

She remembered that she died in a fire that her fiancé and her good sister had lit up so that they could end her life as her presence was just a threat to them which they couldn’t afford. How then was she back here? She wondered but she knew that her death wasn’t a dream but a reality as the pain she felt that time was real.

“She doesn’t remember? I am sure that she is just afraid that people will see how my biological daughter is more stunning than her, an imposter!” a woman said behind the closed door.

She heard those words and she remembered that she was seventeen years old. She recalled this day.

Her eighteenth birthday was nearing and her family was so happy of her turn of age however, something suddenly happened.

One fateful night, a girl wearing tatters walked into their compound when it was raining, a week before the birthday, she begged to see her parents claiming that she was their child. It was a huge blow to the family and no one believed it thus a DNA test was carried out proving that the girl, Fiona Lee, was indeed their daughter. From that day, her name was changed from Fiona Lee to Fiona Bakers, the eldest daughter of the Bakers family. The title that was hers.

The Bakers family didn’t waste time and in a day, everyone in the city knew that Ivanna Bakers who was known as the young miss who had always had an ugly appearance in the city wasn’t a Baker but someone who had stolen the real heiress’ life. People started praising Fiona. After all, she had a beautiful face and sexy body after getting dolled up.

But what about her? She was then labeled an imposter. No one seemed to remember that she had been in that family since she was a child. No one remembered that she had been their daughter since she was an in fact. They all called her names telling her that she had stolen their beloved daughter’s life which she was supposed to enjoy for those seventeen years.

She couldn’t believe she had been reborn a day before their 18th birthday. She smirked as she decided to make things right.

“Mom, maybe she is too tired, you know,” Fiona said outside the room and Ivanna’s eyes turned cold when she remembered that she had started feeling dizzy after eating breakfast, she had gone to her room to get prepared but surprisingly. She fell asleep.

If she remembered correctly, she had heard them speaking outside her room but no matter how hard she had tried to open her eyes and regain consciousness, she couldn’t. The drug had taken a troll of her. After they had left, someone had come into her room and tried to ruin her innocence but even though she had escaped, they found the guy in her room making them believe that she had been busy with a man instead of joining them for shopping.

This had ruined her image and her father and brother who were reluctant to let her go believed that if she stayed any longer, she was going to cause damage to their family reputation.

She smirked before walking to the washroom to get ready and she had to start making things right beginning with where her reputation started to be ruined.

She remembered that her fiancée always said that she didn’t want people to see how beautiful she was as they would be coveting what was his. Since she turned thirteen, she had already started applying heavy makeup making her look like a ghost. This made people believe that Fiona was more beautiful than her.

This time, she vowed, that she wasn’t going to do what the scumbag always wanted her to do. She was going to be herself and not hide who she was anymore thus she didn’t apply any makeup as she had always done.

However, just as she was about to step out of her room, she remembered that Fiona had never seen her real face and it had caused her confidence in everything she did. Knowing that her face might alert the lady and she might plot something worse for her, she shook her head and applied the heavy makeup.

“Sorry for keeping you waiting,” she said as she descended downstairs where she found the mother and daughter about to leave the house.

Fiona was stunned when she saw Ivanna and staggered a little bit not believing that the latter had woken up while she was confident that the drug was too strong for her.

“You! Do you know that Fiona was so worried about you yet you are smiling here?” Mrs Bakers asked coldly as she looked at the daughter whom she had called her daughter for seventeen years.

Looking at the ugly face, her eyes were filled in disgust as she had even forgotten the latter’s true face.

“I am sorry Mom, I was having trouble with the taps in my bathroom and it took me time to repair them,” Ivanna said softly and respectfully but she had Fiona scoff and glanced at her only to be met by cold eyes that were full of hatred.

“Let’s go. We don’t have enough time!” Mrs Bakers said as she walked out of the house holding Fiona’s hand leaving Ivanna behind.

Ivanna stared still as she looked at their backs and a ruthless gaze appeared in her eyes before walking towards them.
