Chapter 10 Inquiring About Melinda

The nanny saw Melinda return and immediately stood up to greet her, "Ms. Sharp, you're back. Sam has been refusing to sleep and insisted on waiting for you."

Melinda looked at Sam's expectant eyes, and a warm feeling surged in her heart. She quickly walked over, squatted down, and hugged Sam tightly, "I'm sorry, Sam, Mommy came back late."

Sam hugged Melinda's neck, his face beaming with satisfaction and happiness, "Mommy, you're back, that's great!"

At this moment, she gently kissed Sam's forehead, then stood up and said to the nanny, "Thank you, you've worked hard."

The nanny smiled and shook her head, "It's not hard, Ms. Sharp. You should rest early too."

After saying that, the nanny packed up her things and left.

Melinda took a shower, lay on the bed, kissed Sam, and Sam, also tired, soon fell asleep in her arms.

However, Melinda couldn't sleep. She looked down at Sam's face and suddenly felt a shock. Why did Sam's little face look more and more like that annoying Raymond? She shook her head, thinking she must be overthinking.

Sam is so handsome and cute, she must be seeing things.

In the hotel, Emily changed into a gorgeous dress and walked out, immediately attracting the attention of the surrounding girls. They gathered around her, praising her enthusiastically, and many even took out their phones, wanting to add the future Mrs. Thomas Group President on WhatsApp.

"Emily, you are so beautiful! This dress looks perfect on you!" one girl said with envy in her eyes.

"Yes, Emily, you must share your fashion tips with us in the future!" another girl echoed.

Emily smiled and responded to these enthusiastic girls, but a ripple of emotion stirred in her heart.

She knew that the reason these girls were so enthusiastic was because they saw the halo around her, the future Mrs. Thomas Group President.

She clearly knew what she wanted and understood what she needed to give.

Emily looked back and found that Raymond was gone.

She quickly went to look for him at the entrance of the hall.

"Raymond."

But, looking around, she still couldn't find Raymond's figure.

Her heart tightened, and she quickly took out her phone from her bag and dialed that familiar number.

On the other end of the phone, no one answered. Just as she was about to lose patience, a low and cold voice came from the receiver, "Oh, I had to leave for something."

She was stunned, and before she could react, the voice on the other end continued, "Someone will send you home later." After saying that, Raymond mercilessly hung up the phone, leaving her standing there in a daze, her mood plummeting to the bottom.

Early the next morning, Melinda had just arrived at her office when Kathy led someone in, "Melinda, someone is here to see you."

Melinda looked up and was stunned! Wasn't this the Hugh from last night?

How did he find this place?

"Ms. Sharp, you are indeed here!" Hugh looked at her with surprise. After going home last night, his mind was filled with Melinda's image, and he was determined to pursue her.

Melinda quickly regained her composure and smiled at Hugh, "Mr. Harris, please sit." She wanted to see what Hugh wanted from her.

Hugh's eyes unabashedly scanned her.

At this moment, she had just put on her white coat, exuding a professional and elegant aura, making her even more attractive.

Hugh explained his purpose. His mother had a chronic illness, and he hoped Melinda could help adjust her medication to alleviate her pain.

Afraid that Melinda would refuse, he quickly said, "Can I pay a deposit first?" Before he finished speaking, he took out a bank card from his bag and handed it to Melinda.

Melinda smiled faintly, "I'm sorry, Mr. Harris, I'm not a doctor, I do medical research. Mr. Harris, you must be mistaken."

"Ah." Hugh's hand paused.

"Please take it back." Melinda gently pushed the bank card back to Hugh, with a hint of subtle detachment in her tone.

"What kind of chronic illness does your mother have? Let me see if I know someone who can help."

Hugh heard this and a trace of disappointment flashed in his eyes.

However, he quickly caught the opportunity in Melinda's words, and his heart was filled with joy. He quickly took the chance to invite her, "Ms. Sharp, do you have time for lunch? Let's have a meal together, just as friends."

Melinda hesitated slightly.

She had just returned to the country and didn't want to make too many enemies. Moreover, if she wanted to reclaim her grandparents' inheritance in the future, she would need some connections. So, she nodded and smiled, "Okay, I have two hours for lunch."

Hugh was overjoyed and eagerly asked, "I'll make the arrangements. I'll pick you up at noon. What do you like to eat, Ms. Sharp?" He was trying to find out Melinda's preferences, already planning how to use this opportunity to get closer to her.

After the banquet last night, he learned from William's assistant about Melinda's background. Knowing that she was highly educated and had just returned to the country, working in the top laboratory of this international hospital in Shadow City, Hugh had already made his plan.

If he could marry a highly educated woman like Melinda, his status would improve significantly. Thinking of this, he became even more enthusiastic about Melinda.

Watching Hugh leave, Melinda breathed a sigh of relief, turned around, and walked into the lab to start her work.

Meanwhile, in the Thomas Group President's office, Raymond sat on the sofa, hesitated for a moment, and then dialed a number. Soon, a clear male voice came from the other end, "Hello! Raymond, you busy man, what made you think of contacting me?"

Raymond cleared his throat, "I heard you're being transferred to the domestic branch of Jewel Artistry Company as the vice president?"

"Yes, I haven't been back for many years, and I finally can. But you didn't call to ask about this, did you? What's up?" William said directly.

"What's your relationship with Melinda?" Raymond asked coldly.

William's voice carried a hint of surprise and curiosity, "Raymond, you rarely ask about women. What's going on?"

"She works in my lab and attended your company's opening reception last night," Raymond cleverly mentioned the workplace, trying to cover up his unusual interest.

"I found out later that it was your assistant who personally sent her away. Why didn't you mention her to me before?"
