Chapter 6: What Must Come Cannot Be Avoided

Melinda's face changed! But soon, she regained her composure, "Emily, shut up! How dare you bring that up!"

Melinda's body trembled slightly with anger, her gaze icy cold as she stared intently at Emily.

Seeing Melinda's furious expression, Emily couldn't help but feel a surge of satisfaction, as if she had found Melinda's weakness.

"If you meet that man, would you still recognize him?" Emily's words were full of provocation.

"Get out!" Melinda's voice was as cold as ice, pointing towards the door, her eyes filled with rage.

Emily's face changed slightly, but she quickly regained her composure and sneered, "Melinda, you better be polite to me, or I'll make sure you can't stay in this hospital."

Hearing this, a glint of coldness flashed in Melinda's eyes.

Without hesitation, she asked Kathy to see the guest out, her voice carrying an air of authority.

Emily: "Do you know who I am?"

Emily immediately stood up arrogantly. She had already investigated; this was a hospital under the Thomas Group. And she was the future wife of the Thomas Group's president.

She thought this identity would make Melinda wary, but Melinda just glanced at her coldly.

"Get out before I hit you."

Emily's face darkened, and she opened the door and walked out.

Kathy, standing at the door, was startled. She sensed she had caused trouble; Emily was here to make trouble for Melinda.

"Melinda, I'm sorry, I didn't know..." Kathy looked at Emily's departing figure, worriedly glancing at Melinda.

However, Melinda took a deep breath. She knew this battle had just begun.

Outside the lab, Emily was loudly shouting for Melinda to get out of the hospital, her voice sharp and piercing, attracting the attention of everyone in the lab.

Melinda walked out and approached Emily, coldly saying, "Fine! Go ahead and ask my boss to fire me."

Emily was intimidated by Melinda's aura.

The incident five years ago made Melinda hate Emily to the core.

Now, Emily was causing a scene in the lab, and Melinda couldn't tolerate it any longer.

Melinda raised her arm and slapped Emily hard across the face.

"Ah!" Emily screamed in pain, losing her balance and falling to the ground, "Melinda, how dare you hit me."

Everyone was stunned; they didn't expect the usually kind Melinda to hit someone. However, Melinda didn't care. Her gaze was fixed on the necklace around Emily's neck. A flash of anger appeared in her eyes, as if she saw the story behind that necklace.

She squatted down and reached for Emily's necklace.

"What are you doing!" Emily screamed. She had spent a lot of money on that necklace; how could she let Melinda just take it? The two of them started struggling for the necklace, causing a chaotic scene.

At that moment, a deep and cold male voice came from the direction of the elevator, "Stop."

Everyone looked over to see a man walking slowly towards them, his gaze as cold as ice, sending chills down their spines.

Melinda and Emily stopped their actions and looked up. When they saw who it was, they were both stunned. Raymond? Why was he here? Wasn't he supposed to be abroad?

Raymond's gaze lingered on Melinda for a moment before turning to Emily.

He quickly grabbed Melinda's wrist and pushed her away, his brows furrowed, his voice filled with undeniable anger, "Have you had enough?"

He then turned and walked towards Emily.

Emily's heart sank. She looked at Raymond in terror. She never expected Raymond to appear here, let alone that he knew Melinda.

Just when she thought she was about to be exposed, Raymond suddenly bent down and gently said, "Emily, are you okay?"

Emily's tears started to flow, her nose tingling, and tears rolled down her cheeks.

She weakly leaned towards Raymond, her voice trembling, "Raymond, it hurts so much." She covered her face, showing a pained expression.

Melinda stood aside, her eyes wide with shock.

There was an intimate relationship between Emily and Raymond that she didn't know about.

The atmosphere in the office seemed to freeze at that moment, with everyone's eyes focused on Melinda. They all had the same thought: Melinda was really in trouble this time; she dared to hit Raymond's woman!

However, Emily didn't miss this opportunity. She cried while secretly observing Raymond's reaction. When she saw Raymond's disgusted look towards Melinda, she was overjoyed.

She was sure Melinda didn't know that the man from that night was Raymond.

"Raymond, I really feel terrible."

Emily tried to wrap her arms around Raymond's neck, but Raymond skillfully dodged her.

He pulled Emily up, tightly holding her hand, and quickly walked towards the elevator. The elevator doors slowly closed, leaving Melinda standing there, stunned.

Emily was Raymond's woman? How could that be! Melinda took a deep breath, trying to calm her emotions. She needed time to process this shocking news.

"Melinda, you're really bold, daring to offend Mr. Thomas's woman!" A colleague walked by, gloating.

Melinda snorted coldly, glared at her, and turned to walk into her office, slamming the door shut.

Sitting at her desk, Melinda held her head in her hands, her mind in chaos.

What tricks did Emily use to attract a man like Raymond? No matter how she thought about it, it seemed impossible. Was Raymond blind?

Meanwhile, in Raymond's office, Emily was sitting on the sofa, crying and recounting what happened today.

"Raymond, you have to stand up for me!" She pointed to her swollen cheek, crying weakly.

Raymond's brows furrowed tightly. He had thought Melinda was just cold on the surface, but he didn't expect her to have such a violent side. This made him even more curious about Melinda.

He stared sharply at Emily and said calmly, "You go rest first. I'll handle this."

He asked his secretary to send Emily back.

After Emily left, Raymond thought for a moment and directly messaged the lab director, Frank: "Have Melinda come to my office."

Soon, Melinda received the notice to go to the Thomas Group president's office.

She took a deep breath, knowing that what was coming would come. At worst, she would just quit.
