Three

Fiora PoV

I didn’t dare leave the room. He really locked me in here. That night when he called me, I knew he must have been disappointed because he was laughed at by many people.

Some individuals from other clusters mocked me and said that Freya was the best. Why did he choose me instead of sending me away or canceling our neural-link immediately?

However, the things he said about his strange preferences made me certain that he chose me just to satisfy his personal desires.

But still, he’s crazy—why me? There are so many others. What does he see in me? I clenched the pillow tightly, then angrily threw it toward the door.

“He’s insane!” I shouted, wishing I could be with someone else that night. Why did it have to be from that cluster? A man who had no feelings and spent 35 years of his life as a pawn.

“Miss!” I looked toward the door. “I’m the servant, may I come in?”

“Yes.” Why did he have to ask for permission?

The door then opened, and I saw several servants come in carrying medical equipment and bedding. They immediately began cleaning my room.

“How is it outside?” I asked, and they smiled—a smile I rarely saw, so sincere.

“Everything is safe, Miss. Would you like to take a walk? We’ll accompany you.”

Are they serious? I just smiled faintly. Honestly, I wanted to go outside, but meeting him scared me. His personality was still too mysterious for me to understand.

“No,” I replied, and they resumed their work. Could I ask them something about the Commander?

I stood up from the bed and walked toward the window. There, I saw Commander Brynmor talking to a Beta-Engineer from another cluster.

“Is he a cruel person?” The words slipped out of my mouth before I could stop them. I felt a little uneasy.

“Well, it’s partly true. Sometimes the Commander can become cruel if something happens. But he’s very kind; we’ve never complained about his kindness,” one of them said.

“He? Kind?” I asked, surprised. The three servants in my room nodded seriously. Seriously, the man who dared to choose me in front of so many people is kind?

“The Commander won’t hurt you, Miss,” they reassured me, but I just shook my head. Clearly, that night he said he would be satisfied if he tortured me.

“I’m a little unsure about that. But is he really that confident? That he would choose me in front of everyone?” I mused aloud.

The three servants smiled. “Miss, don’t think badly of him. A Commander’s character can be seen through his cluster too. Do we seem cruel or overly confident?”

I shook my head and smiled awkwardly. If I thought about it, they really were kind, even calling me “Miss” so casually. We hadn’t even started our welcome ceremony yet.

“I know you’re kind, but he... hr said he has quite... strange preferences,” I murmured, and they exchanged looks.

They shook their heads. “Sorry, Miss, we don’t know about that issue.” I nodded, and they went back to their work. “Miss, we can’t be sure about that, but if the Commander had preferences, we Beta-Engineers would already be his targets.”

“He said it’s only for his chosen partner,” I quickly responded, and they nodded, appearing to understand. Oh well, let them think whatever they want about the Commander.

“Sorry, Miss, we don’t know, but if you need anything, just shout, we’ll do our best to help.”

They were too kind. I gave them a light smile. Ah, this feels so awkward. “What are your names?” I asked, and they lowered their heads. Why were they doing that?

“I’m Lyra, Miss.”

“I’m Leah, Miss.”

“And I’m Grace, Miss.”

I was a bit stunned. Why were they introducing themselves so familiarly? “Your names are nice.” They just exchanged glances and continued cleaning my room.

After a few hours, they finally finished and started packing up the equipment. “Miss, if you’d like to go out, you can. And if you need help, everyone will assist you.” I nodded, and the three of them then bowed and left without locking the door.

I looked out the window again, and Commander Brynmor was still there. It’s better to take a walk and avoid running into him.

I looked around and walked through the halls. His palace was so big, much more advanced than our base. He was really a wealthy Commander; any woman who married him would be very lucky.

As I walked through the corridor, several Beta-Engineers and regular servants passed by and greeted me. They were really kind, after all. I hoped the Commander wasn’t cruel.

“Miss, would you like me to accompany you?” I was startled and looked beside me. It was Leah. Wow, she really scared me.

“Sure.” As we were walking, I began to feel my body heating up. I felt like I was struggling to breathe.

Leah asked what was wrong, and I just shook my head. My body felt so strange and slightly disturbing. We continued walking, and Leah began telling me about the surroundings.

I glanced at Commander Brynmor, and he was talking to a woman. Who was that? Why did they seem so familiar? The woman wasn’t wearing the Beta-Engineer servant’s uniform.

Leah then tapped my shoulder. “She’s a Beta-Engineer in charge of missions outside the cluster, Miss.” I was immediately shocked. Why did she say that? Did I look jealous? She just smiled, and I quickly shook my head.

Just a Beta-Engineer, but they were so close. What he did with me was the complete opposite, probably 360°. We continued walking, but I wasn’t sure when our gazes met. He stared at me, and I quickly looked away.

I peeked a little, and his expression was very upset. I already knew he hated me. The reason he chose me was just for personal satisfaction.

I felt my body heat rising, and it was unbearable. My heart was pounding so hard, and I could hardly breathe.

I grabbed Leah’s hand. “Miss, what’s happening?” She seemed panicked, and I smiled, but it really felt unbearably hot. I wanted to take off my clothes.

“Take me to my room,” I gasped for breath. Leah immediately nodded and helped me walk. I saw several operators immediately cover their noses and avert their gaze. What was going on?

I pulled at my collar. It was so hot; I thought I might die. Once we reached the room, Leah immediately started looking for something. What was she doing?

“Leah,” I called, and she came closer. My vision was starting to blur. I didn’t know what was happening, but I felt wet down there, and I was beginning to feel aroused.

“Why, Miss? Wait, I’ll call the Commander.”

I pulled Leah’s hand. “Take off my clothes. It’s too hard,” I begged, struggling to undress.

She shook her head. I grabbed her hand, but she just looked panicked. “Call Commander Brynmor! Miss Fiora is in trouble!”

What was she shouting? I was just feeling hot; it wasn’t a big deal. Leah seemed even more panicked, not knowing what to do.

Some noise started, and I looked toward the door. There were so many people peeking through the window. Leah was even more frantic and didn’t know what to do.

I pulled up the dress I was wearing, and Leah quickly stopped me, pulling it back down. Did she not understand how I felt right now?

“Stop!” I shouted, but she didn’t hear me. More people were gathering, peeking at me. I was just running a fever, why were they so scared?

“Where’s Commander Brynmor?” Leah seemed even more uneasy.

“I don’t need him. Why are there so many men outside?” I whispered. Leah only smiled bitterly, still trying to hold my dress.

“Move!” I recognized that voice. Commander Brynmor?

The door opened, and everyone covered their noses, except for the women. Commander Brynmor did the same.

I saw him talking to Leah. His face looked so upset, and he glared at me.

Leah left, and Commander Brynmor approached with that same angry look. He was always like this toward me. The people outside had left.

My body was burning. I tried to pull off my dress, but Commander Brynmor stopped me, just like Leah.

His lips looked red, and he seemed sweet. I didn’t know why, but I wanted to kiss him. I moved closer, but a large hand stopped me.

“Fiora! You’re experiencing a hormone spike! Control your neural system!”
