The Day of Judgement
"Thank you for reminding me what happened yesterday. I will never forget that incident. One punch from you means nothing to me. From now on, be prepared to receive more punches from me," Vincent challenged Edward.
"Wh-what do you mean, Vin?" Edward frowned. The man was too stupid to digest every word Vincent threw at him. He was too frightened by Vincent's threats.
Vincent flashed a mocking smile at Edward. The look in his eyes was so sharp, so vengeful that it pierced Edward's eyeballs. Vincent and Alvin didn't really care about him anymore. They immediately went to the Vice President's office.
Emma and Edward were still gawking, watching Vincent's back as he walked away from them. The two of them exchanged glances, wondering what had happened to Vincent this time.
After finding out that Vincent has full power in the company where she works, Emma now regrets that she broke off her relationship with Vincent yesterday.
"Stupid!" Emma blamed herself. She banged her forehead against the door of her office.
Arriving at the Vice President's office, Vincent was thinking of a plan to get back at Emma for betraying him. Also Edward who had dared to humiliate his pride in public. Both of them would feel the consequences.
"Young master, do you need anything?" Alvin offered.
"Bring me the profiles of the two employees. I want to see their portfolios and daily work reports," Vincent ordered.
"Yes, Sir. I'll get it for you right away," Alvin complied.
Vincent sat in his oversized chair. He was looking at the huge glass window, right behind his desk. Vincent had something on his mind right now.
"It's time to pay them back for what they did to me," Vincent said with a sardonic smile.
Alvin returned to his employer's office. He handed over all the files Vincent had ordered. The files were the work reports of two of his employees, Emma and Edward. Vincent was curious about their performance. What achievements they had made for this company.
After looking through the profiles and work reports, Vincent immediately ordered Alvin to conduct a surprise inspection this afternoon. Vincent was to look directly into the workspaces of his subordinates.
"Is there something wrong with them, Sir?" asked Alvin.
"I have a surprise for both of them," Vincent said.
"Surprise?" Alvin was confused.
"Just come with me later. You'll find out what I'm up to when I make a raid on these two," said Vincent. Again, he flashed his sardonic smile. This time right in front of Alvin, his secretary.
After lunch, Vincent, accompanied by Alvin, went round the office again. The two of them were going to conduct an 'inspection' without the knowledge of the employees.
At exactly 1pm, all employees were supposed to be at their respective workplaces, but Vincent found many employees who broke the rule. Most of them were still hanging around outside office hours.
"What the hell? Why aren't they in the office yet? Didn't break time end a few minutes ago?" Vincent was furious at Edward and Emma's empty office.
"As soon as they return, call those two people into my office! I'll give a stern warning to all undisciplined employees like them. Understood?" Vincent ordered Alvin.
"Yes, Sir." Alvin immediately carried out his boss's orders. He rushed to call all the employees who had disobeyed the office hours rule.
A few minutes later, all the employees who were caught breaking the office rules had gathered in front of the Vice President's office. They looked upset, wondering what would happen to each of them after Vincent reprimanded them for their indiscipline.
It was Edward and Emma's turn to enter the Vice President's office. Vincent sat in his favourite chair with his arms crossed, watching them carefully. He was annoyed that their facial expressions looked flat. As if they were innocent.
'How annoying these two are,' Vincent thought.
"Vin, what did you call us for?" asked Emma who spoke casually. Alvin glanced at Emma. How rude! Calling her superior directly by name.
"Behave yourself, Miss!" scolded Alvin. He couldn't accept that a lowly employee like Emma dared to call his boss by name. It was unethical.
"I apologise, Mr Alvin," regretted Emma who immediately lowered her gaze. Edward smiled wryly seeing Emma, his girlfriend being reprimanded by Alvin.
"You know the rules of office hours, right?" Vincent asked Edward and Emma. "I don't like to see my employees who are not disciplined about time."
"We were only a few minutes late. It's also because of the traffic jam. Is that a problem?" Edward defended himself.
Edward came up with a classic excuse that only made Vincent more annoyed that the man dared to refute it.
"Of course that's a problem. Why do you have to leave the office? Can't you just take a break and have lunch at the canteen or the coffee shop around the office?" Vincent replied.
Edward was silent for a while after Vincent mentioned the coffee shop. He remembered the incident yesterday afternoon.
"That's... because we ...." Emma tried to explain. However, Vincent interrupted her.
"I don't need your explanation. So, just shut up," Vincent interrupted. His tone of voice changed and slightly snapped at Emma.
"Rules are rules. You two can't just break the office rules for personal reasons," Vincent explained.
"Huh, so you're blaming both of us for not following the rules? Listen, Vin! We tried not to be late for work. But we didn't know that there would be problems on the way." Edward didn't accept the blame. According to him, Vincent was being too objective about his tardiness.
"Or perhaps, you deliberately want to get back at us for what we said yesterday?" Edward accused.
Vincent smiled at Edward's words. The man who had mocked Vincent was now silent. He knew the meaning of the smile on Vincent's lips.
Vincent got up from his seat. He walked over to Edward.
"You always remind me of yesterday. Should I retaliate against you now?" Vincent challenged.
Unlike Edward who fought Vincent, Emma was scared to death thinking about what sanctions she would receive after seeing Vincent get that angry with her. Especially after yesterday Emma had treated Vincent harshly.
Vincent would give Edward and Emma the punishment they deserved. He had been thinking about it for a while. The only way to get rid of a useless person like Edward who had too much behaviour and talked too much was to sack him.
"Ed! From now on you quit your job. You may leave my company," Vincent told him directly, bluntly. Without giving him a chance to correct his mistake.
"What?" Edward widened his eyes. He didn't understand Vincent's train of thought. Just because he was late for work, then Vincent sacked him outright dishonourably.
