Chapter 4

Dante

I stepped into the car an hour ago, anticipating the drive to the club. An exciting feeling washed over me at the confidence she displayed a while back. She left me dumbfounded. I couldn't believe that someone so small could inflict such pain. I wanted to leave her be, to run far away from a beast like me, but I just couldn't. She was too tempting, and I enjoyed a good chase.

Last night with her was more than I expected. For the first time in years, I felt at ease—a sudden feeling I couldn't get enough of. She was a virgin girl, and it only made it worse. The thought of being the first to claim her, to tame her, sent something dark and hungry inside me roaring to life.

The way she trembled under my touch drove me insane; it took everything inside me to not unleash my inner beast and devour her like prey under my watch. I struggled to hold back from tearing her up and taking her completely.

From the moment she walked into the hotel room, I knew I'd never let her out of my sight. I wanted to keep her, make her stay, but she seemed to have other plans, which I wasn't too fond of.

“Faster!” I growled at my personal driver as he stepped on the gas. I needed to find her. Now.

°°°

I walked into the club with a dangerous aura clear to anyone who saw. The Underground Empire was empty, just a few people scattered around the bar. As expected, she was around. The club was only packed with people by midnight; it was as empty as a graveyard during the day.

The manager came out of the back room, his eyes going wide as he met mine.

“Oh, hello, sir. What brings you here? I suspect you enjo—” he started, but before he could finish, I pulled out my gun and pointed it at his face.

“Where is she?” I growled, not in the mood for chit-chat, and I was sure he knew. My men had already filled me in on how poorly he treated my princess; the world would do just fine if I ended his pathetic life.

“W-who?” he immediately asked, his voice trembling with fear. “You can have any girl you want. Two, three—just name it,” he said, his face low in a cowardly manner.

Men like him would do anything just to keep breathing. It didn't matter if it meant sacrificing a hundred lives; he didn't care about them. He didn't deserve to live.

Before he could bend again in defense, I gripped him by the collar of his shirt and brought him in close.

“Tell me everything you know about Veronica. Where she lives, her family—every fucking thing.”

His eyes went dead at my words before he opened his mouth to speak.

“I promise you, I don't know anything. She's a new employee; I just—”

I cut him off with a bullet sent straight past his head, missing him by just an inch. It didn't take long before he spoke again, his voice trembling.

“Please, all I know is she works here during the night to save for her mother's kidney transplant. Aside from that, there was nothing else,” he begged, not daring to meet my gaze.

He wasn't lying. A sly smile made its way to my face before I picked him up and made him face down on the ground. I retracted my gun back into my pocket and turned to leave.

I paused at the entrance of the doorway and looked slightly over my shoulder. The crook was already up from the ground with his phone in his hands as he dialed a number. He must have thought I had left, but it was stupid of him to not double-check his surroundings.

I couldn't quite hear what he was saying clearly on the phone, but my ear jolted up when I heard her voice.

“What do you m—?”

His ragged breath cut her off.

“He's after you. Dante Koleman– Mafia. He wants you and he wo—”

Before he could deliver the message I pulled the trigger and put a bullet through the phone and it immediately fell on the ground.

His eyes jolted up to meet mine with a mixture of surprise and pure fear.

“Big mistake”

Without another word I pulled the trigger and sent it straight to his forehead.

Boom.

He dropped lifelessly on the ground with a sickening thud that only ignited the fire with me, more and more. Massive blood poured from the wound, the rest of the people present at the club gave a dreadful yelp and cowered in fear. But I wasn't there for them.

My princess now knew I was coming to get her to tame her. My pants tightened at the thought of her running from me. Cute. I would gladly play the game of cat and mouse and catch her no matter what.

I'm coming, my Queen.
