Chapter 2

"Suit yourself, stay if you want." Sebastian finally relented.

Adelaide was completely different from the women who had been sent here before.

After saying these words, Sebastian had the servant push him out of the room.

Only Adelaide was left, staring at his back, lost in thought.

She knew that Sebastian didn't believe in her now. After experiencing Sebastian's kindness in her previous life, Adelaide would never leave the Manners Villa no matter what.

With the memories of her past life, Adelaide quickly found Sebastian's bedroom.

She was still wearing a cheap dress. She found Sebastian's dressing room, grabbed a set of his casual pajamas, and took a shower.

Fortunately, it was summer, so Sebastian's clothes fit Adelaide well enough except loose.

Adelaide dried her wet hair and walked out of the bedroom.

She had lived in the villa for several years in her past life, so she was not unfamiliar with it.

Adelaide instinctively glanced at the tightly closed study door opposite the bedroom. Sebastian liked to lock himself in the dark study when he had nothing to do.

Perhaps because of his disability, Sebastian didn't like sunlight and didn't want to go out.

Thinking this, Adelaide gently knocked on the door, "Sebastian, honey, are you in there?"

The door was locked.

Adelaide was even more certain that Sebastian was in the study.

Adelaide blinked and turned to go downstairs.

She asked the butler, Ryan, for a ladder. Adelaide originally wanted the servants to help her move the ladder to the study's balcony downstairs.

But the servants all knew she was a woman bought by the Manners family and not favored by Sebastian, so they ignored her.

Seeing this, Adelaide struggled to move the ladder herself.

In the end, Ryan couldn't stand it and helped her carry the ladder.

Then he watched in shock as Adelaide fixed the ladder and nimbly climbed up.

Ryan was terrified, "Ms. Montagu, please come down."

Adelaide waved her hand, giving Ryan a reassuring gesture.

The ladder was high but still couldn't reach the second-floor study balcony.

Looking up at the height, Adelaide stretched her limbs.

She usually enjoyed extreme sports like skydiving, gliding, and rock climbing.

Amid Ryan's exclamations, Adelaide leaped, grabbed the edge of the balcony with her hands, and swiftly climbed up.

Through the floor-to-ceiling window, Adelaide frowned at the gray curtains blocking her view and muttered.

She knocked on the window, "Sebastian, I know you're in there. Open the door and let me come in, Sebastian."

No matter how Adelaide called, Sebastian refused to respond.

Adelaide's hands were red and sore from knocking, but it was useless.

She pouted in frustration, examined the glass door lock, and took a small hairpin from her head.

With the hairpin, Adelaide easily unlocked the door.

Adelaide clapped her hands, a faint smile on her lips.

Such a lock was no challenge for her.

Pulling open the curtains, Adelaide called out with a smile, "Honey."

Sebastian was supporting himself on the table, trying to stand up.

Hearing the noise, he looked towards the balcony.

When his eyes met Adelaide's, Sebastian's expression turned cold, a hint of displeasure flashing in his eyes.

Adelaide watched as Sebastian sat back in his wheelchair.

She suddenly realized that Sebastian had been trying to stand up.

She vaguely remembered that in her past life, Sebastian couldn't stand at this time.

In her previous life, Sebastian was very resistant to surgery, preferring to remain disabled rather than cooperate with hospital treatment. Later, for some reason, Sebastian suddenly contacted a foreign hospital and underwent several surgeries.

Not only that, but Sebastian also went through a difficult rehabilitation process, taking a year to stand again.

But there were still aftereffects; he occasionally needed a cane.

Seeing Adelaide scrutinizing him, Sebastian coldly ordered, "Get out."

Adelaide snapped back to reality and walked towards him, "I came to see you, honey. You should go out more and get some fresh air. I..."

Just as Adelaide was about to get closer, she tripped and fell forward.

Adelaide closed her eyes in panic, thinking she was going to fall. When she came to her senses, her hands felt something soft and warm.

She was kneeling, her face buried in Sebastian's abdomen, her hands tightly gripping his inner thigh.

Sebastian looked at Adelaide with a stern face.

Their current position was quite awkward.

Adelaide's breath lightly brushed against Sebastian's lower abdomen.

Sebastian's body instantly tensed, his hands clenched at his sides, his face looking grim.

"Get up, how long are you going to stay like that?" Sebastian said through gritted teeth.

He could feel the changes in his body at that moment.

Especially where Adelaide was now.

Hearing his words, Adelaide immediately struggled to get up, "I didn't mean to, I'll get up right away..."

Just as she was about to stand, Adelaide panicked and lost her balance again.

She fell into Sebastian's arms once more, her hands landing in an inappropriate place.

The soft and warm sensation in her palms and the heat made Adelaide's cheeks flush red.

Oh God, kill her now. What had she done?

Adelaide was embarrassed, silently cursing herself.

Sebastian wasn't faring much better.

His body was tense, his voice even colder, "Get up."

If Adelaide continued to cling to him like this, Sebastian couldn't guarantee he wouldn't react.

His legs were temporarily paralyzed, but everything else was functioning normally.

With Sebastian's voice full of frustration, Adelaide instinctively squeezed her hands.

A muffled groan came from above her.

Adelaide jumped up in fright, "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to. Are you okay? Did I hurt you? Let me see."

Seeing Sebastian's grim expression, Adelaide thought she had hurt him.

She squatted down in a panic, reaching out to check, trying to lift his shirt.

At that moment, Sebastian grabbed Adelaide's hand, his eyes full of warning.'Did this Adelaide even know what she was doing?'
