Chapter 3: In His Arms
Amelia's Pov
I froze in uncertainty as I stood there, this time around Max's voice broke the silence.
“You sure you're okay?”
He asked, his tone laced with concern.
“Yeah, it's nothing, I'm fine.” I knew I wasn't. I still don't get why Lucas would interrupt us and that made me unsettled.
“Did you know him before now?” Max asked.
“Nah, I don't.” I said, waving my hand.
It seems like Max didn't believe me. His eyes narrowed slightly, as he stood close to the door, ready to leave.
“Are you sure you're okay? Why are you looking so tired after a little sex we had huh? I thought you were professional on this.”
I was surprised to see my hand shaking and trembling as I glanced down.
Max left after that and I was relieved after that but the thought of Max riding me was still on my mind. “I'm definitely going to do this with him again.”
I sat on the bed staring at the necklace on my chest, no one will actually want to believe I'm a hostess if I put that on.
I realized I was taking too long inside the room and my boss would be wondering what I'm still doing. Just when I was about leaving the room Lucas walked in.
“Hey, what are you doing here, I thought you left with Max.” I muttered.
“Yeah, I did, but I thought leaving without having you all by myself will be a regret.”
“So is that why you rushed back?”
Lucas looked at me for a while without saying a word. He rolled his eyes, staring at my exposed boobs.
I couldn't believe he knew so much. His words struck a nerve. “I appreciate the fact that you came in here to tell me all this, I think you have to leave now.”
“Leave?” He interrupted. “I guess you're doing this because you need to survive. Why don't you go back to bed while we have a good time.”
I thought that was a good idea. My boss had no idea Lucas was with me. And whatever I will be getting after having sex with Lucas will be mine.
I was torn between caution and desire.
“Stop acting like you don't want this, why don't you go back to the bed so we can have a good time.” Lucas said,
His words echoed in my mind. The temptation was strong. I knew it was a big risk.
“I…don…” I stammered.
Lucas stepped closer, “Don't think about declining this offer.” His eyes burned with intensity.
I knew I was weak already. I stared at his lips and couldn't wait to kiss him.
He threw me on the bed and pulled my bra. His lips brushed against mine which sent shivers down my spine.
As we went deeper in the kiss my mind was filled with thoughts. Was I making a mistake?
When I was about to say something, Max shushed me with his thumb and I surrendered immediately.
His warm breath danced across my skin. “Let go and let's do this.”
The room melted away and his words unraveled my defense, thread by thread.
“But I shouldn't.” I whispered, my voice was barely above a whisper.
“I know you want to.” His gaze held mine captive. My body betrayed me even as my heart pounded in rebellion.
Just then, the door creaked open. My boss stood in the doorway. His expression was stern. “Amelia, come with me.”
Reality snapped into focus as I jerked back, gasping.
“Call me if you need me.” Lucas left the room after dropping his card.
I was torn as I followed my boss. My heart kept pounding on my chest. I couldn't resist Lucas' presence.
My boss handed me a drink. “You should focus, you're losing focus.”
I nodded, looking round if I saw any trace of Lucas.
With that my boss turned and left. Leaving me to my own thoughts while I stood there sipping the drink.
My mind whirled with different emotions. Why did Lucas come back? Why does he look at me with so much desire?
Just then, my co- hostess walked towards me. Concern etched on her face.
“You don't look fine. You seem a bit distracted.”
I forced out a smile. “I'm okay, just tired.”
Her eyes searched mine as if she was sensing the truth.
“You are definitely not yourself.” She said, waving her hands to leave.
I don't know what was wrong but I was definitely losing myself in Lucas' enigmatic world.
As she walked away I brought out the card which Lucas had given me.
Private investor, Discreet affairs. “Really, what secret secret?”
The night unfolded, my thoughts still remained with Lucas. As the evening wore on, I found myself walking towards the exit. I don't know how to find my way back home since I was drunk.
As I got outside, the cool air enveloped me like a shroud.
I couldn't walk properly with my heels so I pulled it, held it in my hand. “Yeah, I feel much better.”
I waved my hand trying to stop a cab. My heels dangled from my fingers as I stumbled.
After a while a taxi screeched to a halt. Just then my phone buzzed. It was my boss calling.
“Where are you?” His voice echoed through the speaker.
I slurred before answering. “I'm heading home.”
“Alright, you sound drunk so be careful.”
I nodded even if he couldn't see me.
Lucas' card slipped from my hand as I entered the cab.
“Rough night, I guess.” The driver said, raising an eyebrow.
I waved my hand sheepishly.
“Home address ma'am.”
My eyes drift shut but he tapped me carefully.
“Hey, get your filthy hands from my body.” I shouted before I mumbled my address.
The cab halted abruptly. I was already half asleep. The driver fixed his eyes on me. “We've arrived at your destination.”
I didn't respond to that.
The cab man opened the door for me but still I wasn't ready to leave the car. He scooped me up. Cradling me in his arms.
“What the fuck are you doing, put me down now.” I said, before dozing off.
