Chapter 2 Kneel Down and Apologize
The next day.
I arrived at the restaurant half an hour early.
The restaurant had an elegant ambiance and wasn't crowded.
Two guests were talking diagonally across from me, their voices quite prominent in the quiet restaurant.
"Ms. Clark, is this the birthday gift Mr. Phillips gave you yesterday? Such a big diamond ring must be worth hundreds of thousands of dollars."
I looked over as if electrocuted, and it was indeed Aria Clark.
Hearing the words of Ruby, her friend, next to her, Aria covered her mouth shyly, her large diamond ring sparkling under the light. "I don't know, he just said he wanted to give me the best, but I also think it's a bit too expensive..."
I sat not far away, watching coldly.
The diamond ring Henry casually gave Aria was worth hundreds of thousands of dollars, yet he didn't even remember my birthday.
How ridiculous.
Maybe my gaze was too direct, and Aria noticed my presence.
The smile in her eyes froze, but she still said gently, "Ruby, sit here and wait for me, I have a friend over there, I'll go say hello."
She walked gracefully to my side, extending her slender hand, her nude-colored nails long and delicate, the transparent and brilliant diamond ring shining under the lights.
"Mrs. Phillips, I almost didn't recognize you," Aria's voice was sweet. "What a coincidence, Henry said the food here is great, he specially reserved a table for me, he'll be here soon."
I didn't want to argue with her, but she just wanted to provoke me.
Aria raised her hand with the diamond ring to brush her long hair. "Do you want to join us later? You and Henry haven't seen each other for a long time; he didn't have time to go home last night because he was celebrating my birthday."
She said shyly, "He was just being considerate to a subordinate, but the media twisted the facts and posted it online, saying it was a confession ceremony. Please don't take it to heart."
I raised an eyebrow and looked at her.
She was a girl who just graduated from college, so young and naive, smiling innocently, exactly Henry's type.
I smiled faintly. "I don't mind, after all, Henry and I are legally married, and over the years, there have been too many women flaunting themselves online, you're nothing."
Aria's face instantly turned red. "What do you mean!"
"Nothing." I shrugged indifferently. "Ms. Clark, even if you are Henry's girlfriend, you're still a mistress."
My voice wasn't loud, just enough for the people around to hear.
Aria, humiliated in public, couldn't swallow her anger, glaring at me fiercely. "Amelia! No wonder Henry doesn't want to go home with you. You look so ugly."
I sneered, these years of illness had drained all my energy, I knew what I had become, but it wasn't her place to say it.
But I had an appointment with Brian later, I didn't want to argue with her any longer.
I raised my hand to call the waiter, wanting to change seats.
Unexpectedly, Aria thought I was going to hit her; she stepped back in fright, bumping into a waiter carrying a tray.
Scalding tea poured over her exposed arm, and the restaurant was instantly filled with her scream.
"Amelia! What are you doing!" Henry rushed in, anxiously helping the pained Aria up from the floor. "I didn't expect you to be such a vicious woman."
I looked at his disgusted expression and secretly sneered.
Aria was just slightly scalded, and he was so distressed.
"Get some ice; what are you standing there for?" Henry yelled at the stunned waiter.
I watched the farce in front of me, feeling a bit bored.
Aria, who had been smugly leaning against Henry, saw my indifferent look, bit her lip, and immediately put on a pitiful face.
"Henry, maybe it was my words that made her angry."
"I was just explaining the rumors about you celebrating my birthday last night, I didn't expect her to suddenly hit me. Luckily, I dodged in time, otherwise, it wouldn't just be a scald."
She cried as she spoke, tears rolling down her delicate face, making people feel sorry for her.
Henry's eyes were icy, gritting his teeth. "If you have something to say to me, you can come to my office, don't bother Aria."
I couldn't help but laugh. "Henry, you think I came to this restaurant to find you?"
He held Aria, ingnoring my question and commanding, "Apologize to Aria, then take her to the hospital, you can't leave until she's okay."
I laughed in anger. "Why? She just stepped back and bumped into the waiter, she should be the one to apologize, not me !"
He gave me a cold look. "It's your fault, you must apologize."
He then took an ice pack from the waiter, gently applying it to her arm, a stark contrast to his earlier cold demeanor towards me.
Aria smiled provocatively at me, then said sweetly, "Henry, let's forget it, it doesn't hurt anymore, with so many people watching, she won't apologize to me."
Henry's voice was gentle, but with a hint of mockery, "Don't worry, I have a way."
He let Aria hold the ice pack, stood up, and took out a check from his pocket, writing down some numbers.
"Aren't you willing to do anything for money? This is ten million, kneel down and apologize, and it is yours."
