Chapter 4: An unknown encounter
The team fell silent, knowing that Vector was right. They quickly started to prepare for the mission, checking their weapons and gear.
Vector and his team, Archer, cobra, Viper, and Dagger, left the meeting room and headed towards the loading dock of the warehouse. They quickly loaded the weapons into a van, securing them tightly so they wouldn't move around during the drive.
As they finished loading up, Sniper approached them, holding a duffel bag. "Almost forgot the extra ammo,"
he said, handing the bag to Vector.
"Good catch," Vector replied, taking the bag and stowing it in the van.
With everything loaded and ready to go, Vector turned to his team. "Everyone ready?"
They all nodded, checking their weapons and gear one last time.
"Let's do this," Vector said, climbing into the driver's seat.
As they pulled out of the loading dock and headed towards the city limits, Archer spoke up, breaking the silence in the van. "Can you believe the Don has a slave girl in his mansion? What do you think he's doing with her?"
Vector shot Archer a look, "That's enough about the slave girl. We have a mission to focus on. Let's not get distracted."
The team fell silent, the tension in the van palpable. They knew they had to stay focused on the task at hand.
As the van drove through the city streets, Vector kept his eyes trained on the road, his hands gripping the wheel tightly. He couldn't afford to let his mind wander, not with a mission as important as this one.
The team continued to remain silent, each member lost in their own thoughts.
After a few hours of driving, they reached the outskirts of the city and the road became rougher and less traveled. The surroundings grew more and more desolate as they continued on towards the mountains where the Viking clans were located.
Viper spoke up, breaking the silence once again. "We're almost there. Let's keep our guard up and be ready for anything."
The others nodded, knowing that they were now in potentially dangerous territory. They had to be alert and prepared for anything.
As the van neared the rendezvous point, Vector slowed it down and scanned the area for any signs of the Viking clans. The others in the van tensed up, their hands gripping their weapons tighter.
Suddenly, a figure emerged from the trees and approached the van. It was a member of the Viking clans, signaling that they had found the right place.
Vector rolled down the window, and the Viking member leaned in. "You have the weapons?" he asked, his voice gruff and sharp.
Vector nodded, "We do. We have everything you asked for, and then some."
The Viking member motioned for them to follow him, and they made their way deeper into the woods.
They arrived at a clearing where a group of rough-looking people were assembled, their weapons glinting in the light. The leader of the clan, a tall bearded man named Bjorn, approached them.
"You're the Don's men?" he asked, his voice rough and commanding.
Vector nodded, "We are. Marcus sent us with the weapons you requested."
Bjorn nodded, eyeing the van full of weapons. "Looks like you have what we need," he said. "Let's take a look at what you've brought us."
The Black Eyes Clan members watched as the Viking clansmen began to inspect the weapons. The air was thick with tension, the two groups studying each other warily.
As the inspection went on, Sniper leaned over to Vector and whispered, "I don't like the way they're looking at us."
Vector nodded, his eyes scanning the clearing, taking in every movement. "Stay vigilant," he replied, "We can handle ourselves if things get rough."
After what seemed like an eternity, Bjorn spoke up. "Your weapons are satisfactory," he said. "Now, let's discuss payment."
Vector and the other Black Eyes Clan members waited tensely as Bjorn pulled out a bag of gold coins.
"The agreed upon price," Bjorn said, handing the bag to Vector.
Vector took the bag and quickly counted the coins to ensure they were all there. "Everything seems to be in order," he said, nodding at Bjorn.
Bjorn grunted in acknowledgment. "The weapons are in our possession. Your mission is complete," he said, giving a signal to his men.
They began to retreat back into the woods, leaving the Black Eyes Clan alone in the clearing. Vector looked around at his team, a sense of relief washing over them.
Archer spoke up, "We did it. We completed the mission without any trouble."
"Let's not celebrate just yet," Vector interjected. "We still have to get back to the Don's mansion in one piece."
The team quickly loaded the remaining weapons back into the van, ready to make the long drive back to the city. The successful completion of the mission had lifted the mood slightly, but they knew the journey back could still hold unforeseen dangers.
As they began the drive back, Vector reminded them to remain vigilant. "We're not out of the woods yet," he said, his voice serious. "We need to stay focused and alert until we're safe in the clan house."
The team nodded, silently agreeing with Vector's words. They understood the dangers of their profession and knew that complacency could lead to disaster.
The van continued to drive through the night, the headlights cutting through the darkness. The team remained on high alert, their eyes and ears attuned to any signs of trouble.
Hours passed, and the city lights began to grow closer in the distance. The team's excitement at being closer to home began to rise, but they knew they still needed to tread carefully.
Suddenly, a strange sound echoed in the air. It was faint at first, but grew louder and more ominous as they continued driving. Everyone in the van tensed up, their hands instinctively reaching for their weapons.
"What the hell was that?" Viper muttered, his eyes scanning the area.
"I don't know," Vector replied, his knuckles white on the steering wheel. "But I don't like it. Keep your guard up."
The strange sound continued, growing louder and more menacing. The team exchanged worried looks, their hearts racing as they prepared for whatever they were about to encounter.
