CHAPTER 2: Poker Tournament (2)

"He asked if we wanted to hear the rules, but you were too quick to say no," she replied truthfully.

"Quit talking! "You lied to me!"

That man is too livid right now. She can even see the veins popping out of his neck as he screams in front of her. She wonders if those veins will burst open if this charade will go on.

"Why? Because I told you I was a loser at poker? Well, it is only a joke. So you really believe it?" She jokingly inquired.

The woman dressed in black cannot help but berate this old man right now. Does it mean he seriously believe whatever she told him earlier? If that was the case, then he just prove to her that he is a huge fool who knows nothing but getting greedy when it comes to money and power.

"You will pay for that!"

"Is this the signal for me to intervene?"

The woman looked at the man standing behind her. She eyed him from head to toe before shaking her head. It seems like she played longer than expected seeing how tensed his body is right now.

"You had better do a great job tonight, or else I might accidentally throw your body into the deepest part of the sea."

When he heard this, Akito, one of her closest friends and a member of her organization, immediately summoned her men. They were simply waiting outside the room for their signal. They dealt with those guys quickly, and she could tell it was nothing more than a child's game to them. There is no need to use much force to eliminate those pests.

After a few minutes, Akito is holding the man in his arms. His strong grip prevents him from bulging even slightly. When the woman becomes bored with these scenes, she gets up from her seat and puts on her coat again. Before the woman can walk past them, the man calls her.

"Who the hell are you!?"

The beautiful woman faced him and smiled, making him shiver slightly.

"I-I'm a-asking you! W-Who are you?!"

"Is it really important now?"

"J-Just tell me w-who are you!"

Rather than responding to him again, the woman lifts her right hand high enough for him to see the specifics of the ring she wore on her thumb. His face went white at the sight of the ring. There is no one who belongs in the underworld who cannot recognize the signet ring that woman is wearing right now.

"T-The F-Fujimoto's... T-The S-Silver T-Tigers... S-So y-you're t-their... N-No... I-It can't be...!"

"So you know who I am?" She said. "You are correct. That person you are currently thinking about is me. Thankfully, you were unaware that my group was observing you. You made my job so much easier than I could have imagined. So, how about you start praying for your worthless trash life right now, okay, rather than wasting your time asking me a lot of questions?"

She left the casino after giving him a charming smile. With grace, the woman slowly makes her way to the exits of the hotel. She walks outside to find a black car already waiting for her. The driver opens the car's rear door quickly upon spotting their boss. Before she can get inside the car, her smartphone rings.

As she took her phone out of her purse, she noticed a well-known name flashing on the screen and arched an eyebrow. She wonders what happened for him to call her. Still, she picked up the phone.

"Hello, Ace!" She chirped sing-songily. "Why are you calling me? Did you finally miss me?"

(Are you still addressing me like that?)

Even though she can not see him right now, this woman can imagine the famous smirk on his face. The man she is talking right now is a person who is full of pride and dignity. He is not just someone who will make a call to someone unless it is necessary.

"Why? Do you want me to be so formal with you now? I suppose I should practice calling you by your full name. You know that I can do that."

(Stop bothering. It will simply be a waste of time.)

She softly laughed as she heard his explanation. This proud man will never admit it, but he enjoys it when she calls him Ace. After all, his ego is bigger than any building in the entire world.

"So why are you suddenly calling me? Do not tell me you really missed me?" She teased.

She heard him scoffing on the other end of the line before he answered her.

(Don't be silly. I am calling because I want to offer you a job.)

"A job? "What is it?"

(A job that will surely suits you.)

Because it was getting colder, she decided to ride in the car, and the driver carefully shut the back door. Her interest is piqued as they talk about the job he wants to offer.

"Hmm... Maybe I should return to our city to have a more in-depth discussion."

(It works better that way. So, when do you plan to return here?)

"Tomorrow. Besides, my business is currently finished, so I have nothing to do in New York. I believe your call was a blessing in disguise."

(...What business?)

"I will inform you when I arrive. Okay?" She said, casually sidestepping the subject.

(Alright. Let me know when, and I will come get you.)

"Sure. I have to go now. Let us talk in a few days, Ace. Or should I say, Mr. Lim?"

She giggled when she heard his quiet sigh. He detests it so much when she behaves formally around him. After a few minutes, she hung up the phone. With a sigh, she rests her back on the car's leather seat.

"Maybe I should return there now, huh?" She whispers to herself as she observes the changing scenery outside the window.
