CHAPTER 2

Liam was confused about what she meant by Andrew. He looked at the nurse who was clearing her tools on the table, trying to make sense of the situation.

"What does she mean by that?" he asked, staring at the girl who had a bright smile on her face strangely.

The door opened, and the doctor entered the room.

"Doctor, what's going on here?" Liam questioned the doctor, his patience wearing thin.

"Can I talk to you outside for a minute, Mr. Scott?" the doctor gestured to the door. Liam frowned slightly but nodded, following the doctor outside.

"Go on!" Liam signaled for the doctor to explain.

"Well, you see, Mr. Scott, your friend is suffering from temporary amnesia due to the impact of the hit," the doctor explained.

"What!" Liam yelled in disbelief.

"Calm down, Mr. Scott. I know how you feel, but it's just temporary. Your friend will regain her memory soon, as long as she isn't stressed out," the doctor reassured, attempting to calm Liam down.

"She's not my friend!" Liam frowned, correcting the doctor.

"Oh, if she's not, why were you scared for a stranger's life and helped her out?" the doctor asked suspiciously.

"Uhm... I..." Liam nervously stuttered, not wanting to reveal that he was the one responsible for her accident.

"Well, I was driving when I saw a car run over her," Liam lied without hesitation, trying to avoid appearing suspicious.

"You're so sweet, Mr. Scott. You know, everyone has labeled you as a ruthless billionaire with no heart... but I always knew you had one in you," the doctor said with a sheepish smile.

Liam gave him a deadpan stare. The doctor noticed his glare and coughed, laughing awkwardly.

"I have another patient to attend to," the doctor said, excusing himself from the uncomfortable situation.

Liam looked at the room door, took a deep breath, and opened it.

"Excuse me, nurse, can she be discharged today?" Liam asked the nurse, who was clearing her belongings.

"Sure, why not? Just take care of her and avoid stressing her out," the nurse replied, bowing slightly to Liam, who nodded.

The nurse left the room, leaving Liam and the girl, who was staring at him strangely.

"What?" Liam questioned, wondering why she was giving him that look.

"You're acting strange, Andrew," the girl blurted out.

"That's because I'm not..." Liam cut his words short, remembering the doctor's explanation.

"What did you say?" she asked curiously.

"Uh, nothing," Liam mumbled, avoiding eye contact.

She stood up and walked toward him as Liam watched her every move.

She stopped in front of him, crossed her hands behind his neck, and pulled him closer.

Liam gulped, blinking rapidly, unsure of what she wanted to do.

"Kiss me!" she demanded.

"What the hell!" Liam choked on his words.

"Are you okay?" she patted his back gently to stop him from coughing.

"Yeah, I'm fine," Liam muttered before stepping away from her.

"Are you mad at me?" she asked, noticing his strange behavior.

"No, I'm not. It's just been a rough day, okay?" Liam reassured her.

"Oh yeah, what am I even doing in the hospital?" she said, her eyes scanning the room in confusion.

"You fainted, so I brought you to the hospital," Liam explained, hoping to divert her thoughts.

"Oh, okay," she nodded.

"Hmm, let's go," Liam ordered, leaving her in the room.

"What? He didn't even help me out," she whined, whining about Liam's lack of assistance.

Liam's mind raced as he tried to process the situation. "What have I gotten myself into? I should have just stayed home and worked," he thought to himself, feeling overwhelmed by the turn of events.

Blaming Elliot for inviting him for a drink and causing the fight that led to the accident, Liam realized he was now responsible for taking care of a stranger until she regained her memory. "This is definitely not my day," he muttered under his breath.

Interrupting his thoughts, Liam noticed the girl approaching him once again. "Get in the car!" he ordered, and without hesitation, she entered the vehicle.

Liam followed suit, slamming the car door shut. He buckled his seat belt and glanced at the girl, who was still staring at him intently.

"Stop staring and buckle your seat belt," Liam groaned. She reached down to buckle it herself but struggled, prompting Liam to roll his eyes and assist her.

"There, wasn't that simple?" Liam remarked, trying to ease the tension.

"Thanks, Andrew," she giggled.

Liam glared at her, slightly irritated by her assumption. He started driving towards his house, hoping to find some semblance of normalcy in the midst of chaos.

Upon arriving at his house, Liam parked the car in his driveway and stepped out, checking his phone absentmindedly. He glanced back at the girl, still sitting inside the car, and let out a frustrated groan.

"Is she expecting me to open the door for her?" Liam scoffed, walking back to the car.

"Hey, get out of the car," he knocked on the window, demanding her exit.

Liam opened the car door, and she stumbled into him. He steadied her and asked, "Are you good?"

"Yeah," she muttered, and Liam pushed her away gently before walking towards his house.

"Are you just gonna stand there?!" Liam yelled, realizing she was hesitating.

She shook her head and rushed to catch up with him. Liam opened the door and entered his house, with her following closely behind.

Liam removed his jacket and slumped onto the couch, his hand rubbing his forehead. The girl approached him and sat next to him, causing him to give her a puzzled look.

"What do you want?" Liam asked, his frown deepening.

"Let me massage your head," she offered.

"Why?" Liam questioned, confused by her sudden offer of assistance.

"Well, you look stressed out, so I want to help," she explained, her sincerity evident.

"Thanks, but you don't have to," Liam replied, attempting to decline her offer.

"Oh, hush, baby. I want to do it," she insisted, playfully using a term of endearment.

Liam pushed her off his lap and stood up abruptly. "I'm sorry, I can't do this anymore," he uttered, feeling overwhelmed by the situation.

"What happened?" she asked, her voice filled with concern.

"I... I just can't," Liam paced around the room, clearly stressed.

"What do you mean? Are you breaking up with me?" she questioned, tears welling up in her eyes.

Liam looked at her, confused. "Huh? I never said we were together," he replied, his voice tinged with surprise as he tried to recall her name.

"What's your name again?" Liam asked, a slight grin forming on his face.

"Amelia. You don't remember my name?" she stared at him, shocked by his forgetfulness.

"No, I didn't. But you know what? I'll call you Teddy from now on," Liam suggested, hoping to divert her attention from further questioning.

"Teddy?" Amelia repeated, slightly taken aback by the unexpected nickname.

"Yeah, Teddy. You don't like the name?" Liam questioned, unsure of how she would react.

Amelia hesitated for a moment before breaking into a smile. "I don't know why, but I actually love it!" she declared, her eyes shining with excitement.

Relieved by her positive response, Liam couldn't help but smile back. "Great. From now on, you're Teddy," he affirmed, his voice filled with a mix of amusement and relief.

Amelia's face lit up with joy as she jumped onto Liam, wrapping her arms tightly around his neck. Liam instinctively held her waist, ensuring she wouldn't fall.

Amidst the embrace, Amelia looked up at Liam, her eyes brimming with affection. "Kiss me!" she demanded playfully.

Caught off guard by her boldness, Liam's heart skipped a beat. He hesitated for a moment, conflicted by his own emotions and the situation at hand. He gently tried to push her away. "Uhm, Teddy, look, I have work to…"His words were cut short by Amelia placing her lips on his, making his eyes widened.
