CHAPTER 6

"I don't think he's hot," Amelia repeated, her voice filled with skepticism.

Liam looked at her suspiciously, a hint of doubt in his eyes. "You don't know him, right?"

Amelia shook her head, a mischievous smile appearing on her face. "I don't, but no one is hotter than my Andrew."

Liam frowned, clearly annoyed by her statement. "Whatever!" he muttered before turning to leave.

Amelia quickly rushed to catch up with him, her curiosity getting the better of her. "Wait, where are you going?"

Liam glanced back at her, his expression still slightly irritated. "I'm going to sleep, what else?"

A pout formed on Amelia's lips. "I don't feel like sleeping," she whined, hoping to grab his attention.

Liam scoffed, his patience wearing thin. "How does that affect me?" he retorted.

"But you're my boyfriend. Why don't you care about me?" Amelia complained, tugging at his hand.

Liam yanked his hand away, feeling even more irritated by her behavior. "Let go of me!" he snapped.

Amelia's eyes welled up with tears as she took a step back. "You're mean," she stated, hurt evident in her voice, before turning to leave.

Liam's anger flared, and without thinking, he yelled after her, "I don't give a damn!" However, she had already left the room.

"She's gone," Liam muttered to himself, a tinge of remorse creeping into his voice. He shook off the feeling and made his way to his room, trying to forget the argument.

Hours later, Liam found himself lying in bed, his gaze fixed on the ceiling. Sleep eluded him as he replayed Amelia's words in his mind. Torn between conflicting emotions, he sat up, considering going to check on her. Yet, he hesitated, unsure of what to do.

"Why should I check on her? I don't care if she can't sleep," he murmured to himself, clutching his pillow tightly.

Frustration overtook him as he groaned in exasperation. "Why is it so hard for me to sleep?" he questioned, perplexed by his own restlessness.

Unable to bear the internal turmoil any longer, Liam rose from his bed, determined to find some solace. He ventured into the living room, hoping to distract himself. But to his surprise, Amelia was nowhere to be seen, leaving him puzzled.

"Where is she?" Liam called out, his voice echoing through the empty space. When he received no response, confusion mixed with amusement took hold of him. "Did you pack up and leave already?" he chuckled softly, amused by the thought.

Driven by a growing sense of curiosity, Liam searched the entire house, determined to locate Amelia. As he made his way towards his gaming room, he caught a glimpse of light reflecting from within. His pace quickened, his heart racing with anticipation.

Upon entering the gaming room, Liam's eyes widened at the sight before him. Amelia was engrossed in a game, holding a gamepad in her hands. Snacks were scattered on the floor, and the bean bag she was seated on bore remnants of half-drunk soda and popcorn.

"Um, Andrew, when did you get in?" Amelia nervously laughed, attempting to conceal her guilty pleasure.

Liam's gaze shifted to her feet, which were busy pushing the snack wrappers under the bean bag. He frowned, disapproving of her actions. "Stop it," he admonished her, his voice stern.

"I was hungry, so I decided to have some small snacks," Amelia explained, her voice tinged with nervousness.

"Was your hoodie hungry too?" Liam questioned, his eyes catching sight of crumbs on her clothing.

Amelia giggled softly, brushing the crumbs off the hoodie. "Hehe, sorry about that," she apologized, her smile warming the atmosphere.

"Now you're getting dirt on the floor," Liam sighed, feeling a sense of weariness wash over him.

Amelia bent down, ready to clean up the mess she had made. "I will clean it up," she offered, her voice filled with sincerity as she started gathering the wrappers and crumbs.

Liam, feeling a shift in his emotions, reached out to her gently. "Get up, Teddy," he said softly, making Amelia look up at him, surprise evident in her eyes.

"Are you not mad at me again?" she asked, her voice laced with uncertainty.

"I wasn't mad at you, okay?" Liam yawned, fatigue starting to set in. He flopped onto a nearby bean bag, reaching for a gamepad.

Amelia stood there, her confusion slowly melting away. Uncertain of what to do, she hesitated briefly before taking a seat on another bean bag next to him.

Liam and Amelia engaged in an intense game of Mortal Kombat. Liam's focus was unwavering as he skillfully maneuvered his character. Meanwhile, Amelia observed him with a fond smile, captivated by his determination.

The game reached a critical moment, with the voice announcing, "Finish him!" Liam gasped as Amelia's character executed a fatal blow, defeating his player.

"How did you do that?" Liam exclaimed, disbelief coloring his voice.

Amelia beamed, feeling a surge of pride. "I don't know. I guess I'm just that good," she boasted playfully. Liam's pout grew, a mix of annoyance and admiration lingering on his face.

"No, I won't accept defeat easily. I want a rematch," Liam declared, determination gleaming in his eyes.

Amelia raised an eyebrow, her curiosity piqued. "Are you sure?" she asked, teasing him slightly.

"I said I want a rematch," Liam repeated his words, his expression resolute.

Amelia agreed, resetting the game and preparing for another round. The tension rose as Liam's character relentlessly battered Amelia's, a triumphant smile spreading across his face. However, just as victory seemed within his grasp, Amelia's character executed a powerful move, depleting a significant portion of Liam's character's life.

"What did you do?" Liam questioned, momentarily losing control of his character once again.

The game's voice chimed in, taunting him, "Finish him!" Liam's frown deepened, his frustration mounting as Amelia delivered the final blow, emerging victorious.

"Yay, I won!" Amelia cheered, rising from her bean bag and doing a celebratory dance.

Liam scoffed, crossing his arms, but a glimmer of amusement shone in his eyes. "Whatever. You were just lucky," he retorted.

Amelia's lips curved into a playful pout. "Come on, won't you congratulate me on my win?" she asked, her eyes sparkling with mischief.

Liam's gaze briefly shifted to Amelia's lips, a flicker of desire passing through his mind. He quickly shook off the thought, feeling overwhelmed. "Get out of my head!" he exclaimed, abruptly standing up and making his way to the door.

"What's wrong with you, Andrew?" Amelia asked, concern evident in her voice, stepping in his path, blocking his way.

Liam averted his gaze, avoiding eye contact with her. "Nothing, okay? I'm just going to sleep," he replied curtly, his voice tinged with unresolved emotions.

He left Amelia standing there, her heart sinking with confusion. "Does he not love me anymore?" she whispered to herself, feeling a wave of sadness wash over her. Shaking off the disheartening thought,
