CHAPTER 4

Emily's POV

I felt like the world was crumbling down on me. Did he really just say that he rejected me? It can't be right. This must all be a joke.

Slowly, I looked up at Drake with tears in my eyes. Why did he have to hurt me? Why didn't he believe me?

"I have been with you for so many years," I whispered to him, unable to hold back the tears. "I have tried everything to make you happy, to be the best Luna you ever had. But you didn't listen to me. You didn't even care to hear or listen to my side of the story. I felt so lucky to have a mate like you, but I guess it's best that I also make the same decision."

As I tried to speak, that was when my wolf Nana spoke up.

"Don't do it, Emily. Our mate will come back to his senses and forgive us."

I didn't listen to Nana as I closed my eyes tightly to push the pain away and then spoke.

"I, Emily, was a lone wolf before becoming the Luna. If the Crimson Pack doesn't welcome me back, then so be it. Alpha Drake. I accept your rejection."

Saying that, he dragged me up and whispered to me.

"You made the right choice. From today, you and I are over. I have nothing to do with you, so I think it's best for you to leave."

He pushed me towards the guards, and I saw the anger in his eyes as he spoke.

"Take her away and never let her back into this pack again. Get her out of this pack."

The guards dragged me away, and I glanced back one last time at Drake. He thinks he can do this to me, thinks he can hurt me and that I will forgive him so easily. I will be back, and when I do, I will make him pay and feel the pain he has caused through my soul.

As the guards escorted me to the border that marked the end of the Crimson Pack territory, I looked back at the pack one last time and whispered,

"I may be a lone wolf now, but I will return. This time, I will ensure that everyone who hurt me will suffer. I will become stronger, even stronger than you, Drake. I hope you regret what you did to me. You will feel my pain for all the trouble you have caused me, and I promise I will never come back to you."

With tears in my eyes, the guards pushed me out of the border, and they spoke harsh words to me.

"Do not come here ever again. A disappointment like you has no place in the Crimson Pack."

I watched as the guards left and I turned around to start walking. It was already dark, and I didn't know where to go. Maybe I should go into another pack; maybe I might find happiness there, maybe I might see someone who could help me.

"Do you really think rejecting our mate is the best way?" I heard Nana say to me, but I took a deep breath as I didn't want to remember what happened a few minutes ago.

"I think it's best we forget about him. He's no longer our mate, so it will be best if you forget about him, okay?" I said, feeling a bit of anger.

"What about the child? How will you take care of the child?"

I paused as I stared at my belly and placed my hand on it. I felt tears welling up as I just didn't know what to say or do. I haven't taken care of myself; how will I be able to take care of this child?

"I don't know, Nana. I really don't know. I will try all I could to make sure I take care of my child no matter what. I don't care if Drake is not with me. I will try all I could to make sure I don't give up. He didn't even believe the child belonged to him. He didn't even want to hear my own side of the story. He only believed the image that was given to him. I wouldn't even believe that Lia was behind all this. If she loved Drake so much, why can't she look for someone who will love her?"

I walked on as Nana tried to talk to keep me busy. I was weak, and I could not count how many miles I had walked. I felt tired. I just wanted to lay down and rest.

"Why don't you rest and let me watch over?" Nana said, but I just can't give up now. I am almost close to the Lycan pack; just a few steps and I will be there.

Just then, I felt a heavy pain on me and I fell to the ground, feeling as if my life was about to be taken from me.

"Emily, Emily," Nana tried to call out to me, but I was already in pain, and then everything started to become blurry.

"I can't," I whispered as I tried to stand but only found myself falling down. I have never felt this weak before. Is this how it feels to be rejected?

Just then, I heard footsteps getting closer to me.

"She is still breathing," I heard someone say as I tried to look but could not see their face clearly.

"How is she?" I heard another voice ask, wondering how many people were around me.

"She's alive, my Alpha."

Then I felt a hand pull me up, feeling my body rest against a chest.

I felt warm, as if I was safe. I didn't know who this person was, but hearing the title "Alpha," I knew he must be an Alpha. But from which pack? Is he the Alpha of the Lycan pack? I felt confused.

"Don't worry, dear, you are safe now," I heard before everything turned dark.
