CHAPTER 6 Mommy, just one look
Adina’s POV
I got home later that night and went ahead to cover my puffy eyes. I didn't find a good reason to take any rest as I was already missing my princess.
Tomorrow is my work-off day and I had promised to visit my four-year-old daughter Ava and I don’t want to end up disappointing her. I got dressed and boarded a night train.
Minutes later I caught up with my train heading to the country where Ava lives. It would take quite some hours before reaching there so I decided to nap a little. I woke halfway through and stayed awake all through.
I got to my destination and alighted from the train. It was already morning when I got to my destination, so I headed straight to where my daughter lives with Mrs. Rose.
I gave my daughter a big fat hug when I finally saw her as her warm smile healed my broken heart in an instant. Ava right here was my strength after losing Ricky, she made me complete again and gave me enough reason to cheer up once again.
Without her in my life I would never have gotten over the death of Ricky, as for Tyson he could stay in the Nuthouse all I care. You must be wondering how Ava came about, but not to worry, I’d tell you how she turned my sorrows into a long lasting joy.
On that horrible day after the doctor had told me about Ricky’s death, I woke up from a coma some days after. Then the doctor told me that I was three months pregnant. My heart was filled with joy in an instant, I believed since then on,
That Ava was a gift from Ricky so I decided to keep the baby.
I kept the baby without Tyson’s knowledge because he doesn’t deserve to be Ava’s father. So I took her to Mrs. Rose to live with her in another country, just to keep my child safe from him.
Ava just stood there staring at me with those beautiful hazel eyes, she kissed my eyes gently and said to me in her childish voice
"Mommy, don't be sad, I want you to be happy. I love you."
I chuckled the moment she said that, Ava doesn’t like seeing me sad or moody. That's how much of a sweet child she was. She would always try to make me happy and always smile. I never for once had a dull moment with her, she made me feel the way Ricky always made me feel before he passed on.
"Thank you, baby. You are my treasure, and I will try to be happy for you. ” I said and gave her a hug. “Let's head to the park.”
“Look who forgot to come see me” a voice echoed, awakening me from the moment.
“Oh Mrs. Rose, how could you say that? Come here”
We both shared a laugh as I walked up to give her a big hug. Mrs. Rose was my best friend's Mom. She has been the one helping me to raise Ava for the past five years while I go out and have time to earn a living.
“Thank you so much Mother Rose, I will bring Ava back after the weekend”
“You’re welcome my dear. But you do know you shouldn’t be saying thank you a million times right? I’ve always been happy to help you look after Ava. She’s like a granddaughter to me.”
“I know mother, but I’ll keep saying thank you till forever, thank you so much.”
“It’s okay my dear. Just take care on your way back okay?”
“Okay mother.”
I got home with Ava and we got dressed and set to head for the park. Ava proved to be a big girl by selecting her own clothes and shoes. Damn! My daughter was indeed a fashionista. She chose a black leather jacket which I had gotten for her on her fourth year birthday, a black leather trousers and a pink inner.
Looking all stunning she crowned it all with a black boot and a pink bow.
“Mommy? How do I look?”
“Oh my little princess, you look stunning”
“I know mommy, I just wanted to hear you say it”
I laughed really hard the moment she said that. She never seems to amaze me with her words.
I decided to get brunch at a cafe beside the street before heading to the park. I lowered my head and Texted Emma, my best friend, to join us later at the park.
I was still busy with texting Emma when Ava whispered something in my ears.
"Mommy, there is a handsome uncle walking towards us."
What the hell? I was so shocked, when did children start knowing the difference between Handsome and ugly?
“Ava?”
“What’s the matter mummy? Look at him, he's really handsome mommy.”
“Ava I’m busy now okay.” I said, drifting my face back into my phone.
“Just one look at him mummy, please.”
“Okay, fine you win”
I raised my head up after much persuasion from Ava only to find out that the handsome dude she was talking about was no other person but Tyson.
Wow, what was he here doing this time? Was he stalking me now? I quickly drew Ava behind me as I got ready to face him with rage evident in my face.
