CHAPTER 4 Alpha's interest in the adopted daughter
Darrell pov
"Mom!" I screamed at the top of my voice when I noticed my favorite cup was missing. I have always had it here before I left and now it's gone.
"Darrel why are you being so loud? It's still very early in the morning." I wasn't ready to listen to anything mom had to say about my noise. All I want was my cup.
"Who took my cup away from here?" I asked without greeting first.
"Darrel that cup no longer fits you, you are now the Alpha, why do you care so much about such cheap cup?" I was losing my mind while listening to my mom because her words were not helping instead they made matters worse.
"Mom, I need it back," I insisted.
"I asked…"
"Here it is." Lillian walked in with the cup, I grabbed it from her hands immediately I saw her holding the cup.
"Why do you have it?" I asked her angrily. My mom looked bothered after I asked the question. "Mom did you think of disposing it?"
"Alpha Darrel, Edna disposed it." I was shocked to hear her say that. Edna would never think of doing that because she gave me the cup.
"You can go, I'm fine now." I said to both of them and they walked out of my room.
When they both left I dropped the cup on the table, I still don't think Edna would throw the cup away, that's the gift she gave me with the little she saved when we were both younger.
I know that I hate her right now but still I will never agree with Lilian on this.
"Look at my boy." My mom said to me with a smile on her face. It's my first time facing the chiefs and attending to matters that concerns the pack.
"I'm nervous mom." My mom placed her hands on my cheeks and smiled. "Look at you, you are now the Alpha of this pack, everything in the pack belongs to you, think about that and you won't feel nervous." My mom's words made me feel better.
She arranged my cloth properly and we both stepped out of the room.
"Alpha Darrel, take this." Lilian came just in time, I drank the coffee and felt better.
"Thanks Li." I smiled and handed the cup to her.
When I walked into the court everyone stood up in respect to my entrance, it's something I have always always imagined when I watched my dad.
Listening to the complaints was overwhelming, I didn't know where to start from or the best judgment to give.
"It's your first day Alpha Darrel, take your time." My uncle said to me when he noticed I was finding it hard to understand, and everyone understood too. The meeting ended faster than I thought and I headed back to my chambers.
Few months later.
"Alpha Darrel you look very excited today." Lilian said to me as she was handing a cup of coffee to me.
"It feels weird hearing you call me like that." I sipped the coffee and told her to seat.
"I know right, but if I don't my neck will be chopped off and your mom won't be easy on me." We both laughed and decided to do a lot of catch up. I have been too busy attending to matters that concern the pack that I forgot there's life besides being an Alpha.
"You are doing great, I know your mom is proud."
"She is, she tell me that every morning."
"Mrs Romero in her way with her poker face." We both laughed because we obviously have to end the chat. "Had fun talking to you, hopefully we're able to do this again." I said to him before walking away.
"Lilian, are you done with the guest room?" Mrs Romero screamed the moment she sighted Lilian. I was such a funny sight watching her chase after Lilian.
"Good day Alpha Darrel." Mrs Romero greeted and continued chasing Lilian.
I dropped the cup of coffee and continued reading the paper with me, I was surprised to see the news headline.
"King Baron adopted another child?" I opened my eyes wider than normal when I saw the news. The thought of mating his daughter suddenly clouded my mind.
"This is good news, I hope she's pretty."
It was already getting dark and time for dinner, I sat on the dining and mom joined later.
"Lilian, why don't you join us, you're like a sister to me." I said to her when I saw her standing close to the dining room.
"That's impossible son, the dining is for royalty and must not be stained." I didn't like the words my mom chose to use but to avoid more hurtful words from her I dropped the topic.
"I'm good here Alpha Darrel."
"Of course you should, that's where you're meant to be." My mom added.
"Mommy." I tried to calm her down but she was bent on saying more hurtful words to Lilian.
Seeing the way she spoke to Lilian suddenly reminded me of when Edna was still in the pack and how mother used to speak to her maybe that's why I was triggered by her words to Lilian.
"Fine." She raised her hands, trying to tell me that she's no longer going to say anything.
When we were done having dinner I decided to tell my mom about the news I saw earlier.
"Mom, have you heard anything new from the Double Crescent moon pack?" My mom turned to look at me, with the look on her face I could tell she didn't know about it.
"Not really."
"Okay, he has another daughter that he recently adopted and she's at the marriage age." My mom smiled when she heard what I said.
"Thanks." I said to Lilian as she took the plates away.
"That's good news son, we have to push for her." My mom concluded immediately.
"Why are you still here?" My mom asked Lilian who looked deep in thought, I don't know what it is she was thinking of.
"Lillian." She snapped out of her thought and walked away.
"Oh, I hate them." My mom said angrily. "Why was she in such deep thought?"
