Darren's POV chapter 2

The gentle breeze sifted through the light curtains to touch my skin as I laid on the bed. I blinked rapidly to check the time and groaned when I saw that it was almost noon.

I rushed to sit up but regretted it immediately. My banging head chided me.

"Fuck!" I groaned as I massaged my temple.

"You're fucking hung over, friend. It's why I brought you soup." A familiar voice said, his voice mocking. "What would you do without me?"

"Fuck you, Kyle. I didn't ask for your help, I'm fine."

He snorted. "Yeah, right. Do you have unicorns coming out of your ass too asides from that lie you just yanked out of it?"

I didn't respond. Kyle can be a pain in the ass and I'd gotten used to it. I knew what I was getting myself into when he was chosen to be my Beta. Not that it was any surprise. He had been my childhood friend, me being a year older but our birth date were the same. Our moon signs were aligned on the day he was born and it had been said by the Moon Goddess that we were meant to toe our destinies together.

Kyle has been no doubt the best friend any man could ask for. He knew how to enjoy life, he was smart and strong and his wolf had incredible powers too.

We had both fought wars side by side many times and with the number of times he's saved my ass, there's no way I could let him off.

Unlike me, Kyle is an adventure addict. He would go beyond and back to try new things where I'm stuck with whatever I love. I'm focused on something and I make sure it sticks to me. The same goes for women. That is why I didn't say no when he brought up coming to LA for some booty cheeks.

"The women over there are incredible. More than the women here. Have fun, Alpha, and stop being a twig." He had told me that night.

"There's more to sex than sticking your dick up some noob's ass. Let's go find someone willing to go to the extreme for us. Those who are even more experienced." Kyle commented.

And now as we both sat on my bed in my mansion in Los Angeles, I knew I agreed to stay not just for Kyle. The night I arrived and found a woman to play with from a bar nearby, my wolf picked up something strange.

I could remember the hair on my skin standing like I had porcupine's quills the moment I entered the club.

Savvy Hotel and Bar as I'd read at the entrance. The bouncer was about to stop us from getting in when Kyle proudly flipped up a black card to flash in his face.

"This way, Sirs." The man stepped aside for us.

"Yeah. That's what I thought." Kyle scoffed as we made our way through the pulsing room, the music reverberating through the walls and into my ears.

One distinct thing about me and Kyle was our physical features. While most women would swoon over me and try to get to me, Kyle had a way of sweeping them off their feet with words and charisma. That way, he could get a few women. Not to get me wrong, Kyle was a good looking man. Standing three inches shorter than me as he is six feet tall, he has a lean muscular body that makes him look like a magazine cut out model. He has clean aesthetics too, his Italian suit finely cut to fit his body. His blonde hair is neatly geled and styled on his head, his blue eyes warmer than mine tends to work wonders on the women as well.

I was the complete opposite. I was larger, shoulders broad and strong. While Kyle relied on genetics for his fit physique, I got mine from athleticism, swordsmanship and working out. My large body was why I had all my shirts custom made and my height being why my pants are specially shopped. I looked around, ignoring the women winking and throwing advances towards me.

As we both made our way through the crowds and up to the VIP section to watch the dancers and maybe find one to take home, my vision became blurry for a second.

"That's weird," I mumbled.

"Whew!" Kyle yelled and whistled at someone on the stage. "Look at that ass."

But I wasn't concentrating on the ass, I was concentrating on her face. My heart started beating fast, my fingers shaky and muscles tautening. I clenched my fists and wondered why my wolf was reacting to seeing her. Was it her?

Maybe. Despite the clash of scents and perfumes in this crowded room, hers was distinct. A thick mix of lavender and fresh citrus clogged my senses and I ransacked my brain to find out if any of my pack members were in LA.

She was a small woman, standing at about five feet four, slightly curvy and thick in the necessary places. She was wearing a black leather bodysuit that clung to her body like skin and a pair of heels that gave her more than a few inches. Her hair was worn up in a ponytail snatching her face and making her pretty face stand out.

She had a round small face, full lips and beautiful eyes. She wore a smoky makeup but I could still see why the men wouldn't stop spraying thousands of dollars on her.

"You want that woman? You should call her." Kyle leaned in and asked but I had lost all sense of excitement.

I was curious. My wolf was curious. But I couldn't approach her yet. I didn't want to risk her slipping off my fingers if she was a member of my pack. The scent I was picking up was too heavy for me to dismiss.

I went around to the counter and saw a tall, slender woman with short dark hair.

"Hey."

She smiled cheerfully and came over. "What would you like to have? Strong gin? Tonic gin? Whiskey? Brandy?"

"Just a piece of information will do."

Her eyes dimmed, indicating she was hesitating. I grunted and pressed a couple dollars to her palm. "I promise not to take too much of your time."

"How about we meet up later tonight?"

I slipped a card to her and asked her to call me when she gets to my place. Some hours after I went back home, she arrived. She was dressed in a sundress that stopped above her knees, baring her shoulders and giving me a peak of her cleavage.

"Tell me, what would you like to drink, um..."

"Sasha."

"Yes, Sasha. What would you like? A glass of wine? Champagne?"

She moved closer, confidence oozing around her as she began to fiddle with the hem of my shirt. With the way she looked up at me, I could tell what it was she wanted. I pressed her against the wall and began to plant kisses on her chest. Within seconds, she was undressed and bent over a short cabinet in the living room.

"So you wanted to know about Heather?" Sasha asked, irritation clouding her face.

"Why? Aren't you on good terms with her?"

She sighed and pushed away the blanket, her slender body blocking the rising sunlight that was seeping through the curtains.

"Heather is someone you wouldn't want to be friends with. Narcissistic and arrogant. She thinks everything has to do with money." Sasha said, leaving me even more confused. "If you want to know all about her, here."

She dropped a pamphlet on the bed and I didn't pick it up even after she was gone. I just laid back, letting my memories juggle.

That night was like any other night, except we were throwing a party. Lots of drinks, women and games were available. Everything was going well until one of the ladies came to tell me the old seer was waiting for me in my room.

I was annoyed but I knew that if the old man was in my room for one thing, it's because it's urgent.

"I didn't think you'd come seeing how much fun everyone's having." He said. "I had a vision, Alpha. Do you remember that girl that was born? The Witch's daughter."

I nodded. How could I not remember her? She had been bullied so much she locked herself up inside most of the time. I'd never met her, not sure she knows who I am, in fact, but I hoped we never cross paths because there is no way I'd want to face such a wolfless weakling.

"What about her?"

"You have to reject her and kill her. She is not just your mate but the prophecy about her says a lot. She will grow into a strong and powerful Hybrid. Every pack and every Witch will fear her. Including you."

I frowned. There is no way in hell this man is being serious. But whether I thought he was serious or not didn't matter. I'd asked my men to go ransack the girl's house and drag her to me. I would reject her in front of everyone and kill her eventually.

If she was my mate why didn't my wolf inform me? Right. She had none.

My mind was even more clustered when my men came back empty handed. "She ran." They said.

I'd ordered for their death as I was not only livid but filled with anxiety. What would that Witch do now that she's run away? I vowed to find her but gave up sometime after. There is no way a weak member of the pack would have survived out there. She was just a teenager. A Rogue or other wild animals would have made her dinner.

Back to the present, Kyle picked up a pamphlet beside me, reading through.

"Wow. We should attend this."

I looked up from the soup I was drinking. "What?"

He waved it in my face. "Thought this was yours. It says it's an invitation to a sexual frenzy show." I frowned. Why would Sasha drop that? "Meet with willing submissive men and women. Hmmm. Interesting."

"Let me see." I snatched the pamphlet from his hand and glanced down to see an address and a time. "They are having an auction next tomorrow night."

"I'm guessing they are not selling objects or arts."

"But people."

"BDSM shit. Man it's been a while. Isn't this what we wanted to do? I'm in if you are, Alpha."

I gave him a one over, something interesting fluttering in my stomach. "11pm, Sunset underground hall. It doesn't look like a bad idea."

"I'll see you there then."

He winked and went out while I laid on my bed, anticipating what the rest of my vacation in Los Angeles would bring. Immediately, I was no longer interested in the dancer at the Bar.
