Darren's POV chapter 4

It was almost midnight by the time we arrived the venue; an enclosed area underneath an event hall. From the outside, one would think the place was closed off, out of bounds for anyone except the wealthy. People of great status, I'm guessing politicians and married celebrities, parked their cars several lanes down the street to avoid being seen near the area.

Actually, it was stated on the pamphlet for any member to not park in close proximity to the venue to avoid any traces being led to anyone and risking a scandal.

I had nothing to conceal so I drove straight into the park and turned off the engine.

Kyle pulled up next to my vehicle as well, a grin on his face. He was enjoying this too much. I came here for a different reason.

"I wonder what they are going to have for us." Kyle leaned in and said as we walked towards the entrance. "I hear the women here are professionally trained to please you in bed. Any kind of woman you want is all yours."

I grunted under my breath.

"I think you mean you read it on the pamphlet."

The door opened almost too quickly and we slipped in, flashing our business cards before placing them on a golden tray held by a bulky bodyguard dressed in finely ironed suit and glasses.

"All I'm saying, Darren, is that I want you to make the most of this vacation. No more sulking." He pointed his index finger as if to warn me. "And definitely, no transforming at the slightest issue."

This was a great problem Kyle always had with my temperament. My wolf always had a thing for showing up whenever I'm upset.

"It's not my fault I have a more passionate wolf."

We stepped into a dark world that made my insides drop, senses at alert and ears perked. Kyle on the other hand just found his way to the back of the audience, not caring to look around. That was the difference between us both.

Instead, I stood at the back, glancing at everyone seated. The lighting of the room was so dim the only thing I could see was the highlight of people's heads, both men and women, and in front of me stood a tall woman who was so skinny it made me grimace. I could tell she was the type that would starve herself to look small and breakable. Yet, her expression, her gracious movement and everything about her said otherwise. She wasn't a woman to be messed with. She introduced herself as Carol.

I took my seat just close to Kyle, my eyes fixed on the brightly illuminated stage. After a while, the girls were being led on stage, their faces bright and expectant. Not an ounce of fear could be perceived by my wolf. Only contentment and excitement.

Something about that put my mind at rest. Thankfully, it appears this wasn't a scheme created by human traffickers and kidnappers. Until she walked in.

My wolf jumped within me again. She stood among the girls like a diamond among dirt. She would have been regarded as short and small if she weren't curvy and squishy in certain places. Her stomach wasn't too flat but it was toned and I couldn't be surprised considering she is a dancer. The pink bikini she wore did well to compliment her soft, fair skin. She had this glowing skin that seemed to call on all the men as they had started bidding on her. I couldn't take my eyes off of her.

And when she finally looked up, tucking a few strands of hair behind her ears, I knew then that she was who I wanted to spend my vacation with. Her chestnut brown hair is so long and full I couldn't wait to grab them while I fucked her from behind.

"Calm down, Ray." I said to my wolf. "She isn't ours yet."

But I couldn't calm down. Not with her green eyes darting around as if looking for trouble. Her lips heart-shaped and full, her face so round and small I could think of so many ways to fill them. It wasn't even a want at this point. I needed her.

Before I could stop myself I raised my hand and offered fifty million for her. Her mouth dropped open and for the first time I saw she had an expression. Something that makes her humane. But the expression left as quickly as it came.

The event ended an hour later, the men arranging meetings with their subs later. Some men requested to have female doms to fulfill their fetishes and if the girls can't do it, they have the chance to go back to Carol so the men can have a refund. From the look of things, it has never happened.

It was my turn to approach Carol and immediately she set eyes on me, her mechanical smile came back on.

"Oh, Mr..."

"Darren." I replied noting Kyle's presence behind me.

"You're the one who offered fifty million dollars for one of our newest intake. You don't know how much we appreciate that." She continued to say, her smile widened but barely reaching her eyes.

"It's okay."

She grabbed a paper from the file she was holding.

"Here are the things you need to know about what she can offer and agree to, written by her. You can get all her personal information on it too. Let me know when you're ready."

I looked sideways at Kyle who kept looking at me like I was crazy.

"You brought about the idea, Kyle. So, deal with it." I slammed the paper to his chest and then walked away.

I was now in my car ready to leave when Kyle joined me. "The paper says she needs to familiarise herself with us first so I asked someone to get her home in my car."

"You make the dumbest decisions ever, you know that?" He grinned while I shook my head, deciding within myself that I was stuck with him.

We drove out to a club outside the city.

"I called Rosita back at the mansion and asked her to wait her." Kyle started after a long drive in silence. "I mean, Heather."

"I know her name." I muttered under my breath, eyes fixed on the road, hands gripping the wheels.

Kyle studied me for a while. "Why do I feel like there's more to this than you're letting on?"

"Maybe 'cause there is?" I flashed him a glare. "My wolf has been restless since I set eyes on her. I don't know why but I know there must be a reason."

Kyle's expression changed from being unserious to gravely serious in a second.

"That's concerning. Unless she's dangerous or a part of us, there's no reason for your wolf to react to her."

I shook my head.

"I hope it's not what I'm thinking."

"What is it?"

For a couple of seconds, silence fell between us, the purring of the engine being the only sound.

"You remember that girl I said my wolf chose to be my mate?"

"Yeah, what is her name? Archibald's daughter?"

"I wanted to reject her that night when she ran from the pack. I am afraid that could be her."

Kyle snickered, his sound mocking.

"Don't be ridiculous, Darren. That girl was barely fourteen when she ran into the woods wolfless, weak and exhausted. She is a forgotten cause."

I tried hard to brush it away but I couldn't. As right as Kyle may be, I knew I wouldn't be able to forgive her if she was the one. Because of her, I couldn't get another mate because our bond hasn't been severed. I only hope she isn't or I won't think twice about rejecting her and killing her after. After all, I paid for her.

We got into the bar thumping with loud music and cheers. On one side of the cramped room, women who are stark naked were wiggling their asses on the men, their eyes thinning, an indication of how high they were.

I would be spending about a month here and I planned to make the most of it. Especially after what hit my pack a few weeks back. I didn't want to think about it so I went through the dancing crowds to a corner reserved for VIP clients. In this space, one gets to play several kinds of games. Poker, blackjack, roulette and many more. Kyle had snaked his arm around a woman and led her away while I went straight to the table.

"I'm still waiting for any motherfucker who thinks he can beat me!" A nasty looking fat man covered in sweat even though he's wearing a biker's cut yelled out. His forehead had more creases than an unironed shirt, his nose sitting morbidly on his face and his bushy brows touching his seemingly invisible eyelashes.

Other men sat around him in identical forms, biker's cuts, tattoos, rugged looking and the women standing there to boost the men's ego and confidence. The ones playing with fat man looked thoughtful, trembling with frustration and losses. I could see defeat in their expression.

So I stepped up, dropping my centurion card in the middle of the table. No one has ever beaten me to poker before and it won't start now.

"That card is unlimited. If you win, you walk away with it." Everyone gasped, murmurings coursing through the crowd.

The man looked up at me and at least, I was able to see he had eyes. Black, boring eyes that said he was one of those who cheat in games just to get the benefits. They never play fair and I was hoping to beat him to his game. After a long silence and glaring stares coming from everyone, I looked deep into the man's eyes and spread my arms.

"Well, don't I get invited?"

He grunted, more like exhaled but his round body on the chair that seemed too unstable to hold his weight made it difficult. He kicked a chair on his side.

"You're welcome to get your ass beat."

It was a long game and I couldn't tell how long it lasted but every now and then, I would beat Sharky at the last minute, constantly grabbing his stacks and stacks of money. While he sat there getting drenched in his sweat, eyes calculating and back hunched over the table, I was sitting relaxed on my chair, my suit not having one crease.

Moments later, his bag had been emptied of cash. I leaned forward.

"I take transfer, just so you know."

Out of anger, he pulled out his gun but I was faster so I saw him before he could point it at me. I removed a knife with super speed so it stabbed his shoulder and he dropped the gun, yelling out curses. His colleagues seeing what happened began to approach me so I stood, adjusted my suit and tie before fighting them all. They were about seven in number but in no time, I'd turned the club upside down by rendering them unconscious and beaten. With a swipe on my fingers to clean bloodstains, I picked my car, put in my suit pocket and went off with my money. I called Kyle to inform him that I'd left.
