Chapter 2

"Want some money?" Her mother asked, she was surprised that her mother didn't insist on coming. She watched her mom pull out some money from her favorite maroon purse in confusion.

"Don't spend too much and please be back by four alright." All Gemini would do is nod and receive the money. Her mother later left with used plates. Gemini took out her phone and called Kate.

"Hey and happy birthday," Kate screamed.

"Thanks, could you and Diana come and pick me up."

"Of course. We'll be there." Kate cut the call. After minutes of waiting Kate and Diana pulled by with a silver sports car then Gemini got in.

"You didn't tell your mother you were leaving right? " Diana asked as she turned to Gemini.

"No, if I did she wouldn't let me out of the house." Gemini sighed. "It still hurts that she doesn't know but it is for our safety." Diana and Kate agreed. They finally approached the mall and quickly got in. They stopped by an aisle filled with gorgeous dresses.

"You need to pick something good and eye-catching," Kate said as she pulled out a red-sleeved dress. After a long search they finally bought all the items they needed then headed back, they wasted a lot of time shopping and preparing for both the gathering and party as soon as Gemini returned home she found everything set with people everywhere with loud music then her mother rushed to her.

"Sweetie you are late!! Where have you been!?" She lost track of time once she got to the mall.

"There were too many people in the mall mom."

"We agreed that you would be here by four!!" She crossed her arms causing Gemini to give up.

"Go greet your guests." Gemini nodded then walked around greeting her guests as she goes. Gemini's mother provided the guests with more food and set up the cake. Gemini got prepared and wore Kate's choice the long-sleeved red dress with some black heels then later headed to the backyard where she met her two close friends, everyone gathered and her mom showed up with the birthday cake.

"Gemini why don't you come over here and blow the candles." Gemini did as she was told and once the candles were blown the guests cheered just then the celebration began.

"Gemini we have to get going," Diana whispered in Gemini's ear.

"Okay." She said then later fixed herself and left the compound with her two close friends. They wandered through the deep forest with nothing but their phones lighting their paths just when they approached their destination. Her kind was everywhere and they soon entered the enormous building with a spectacular view, the walls were curved with silver, and chandeliers hanged on the ceiling. Gemini wandered around staring at the décor, she wasn't really sure who she would be matched with. She watched the couple exit the building and she wouldn't lie she was a little jealous as she was more of a romance character. Kate had managed to find her mate so did Diana while Gemini still wandered around looking for that special someone who was interested in her. She later thought of giving up and made her way to the exit when her mother called, she stared at the ringing phone with heavy thoughts of whether she should answer it or not when she bumped into an odd figure and fell harshly on the ground. She looked up only to see a tall and muscular male staring back at her furiously.

"What's wrong with you can't you see where you're going!!" He yelled as he stared deep into her eyes then she felt her wolf panic, she failed to understand why her beast was filled with fear. She got back on her feet.

"Am sorry, I didn't see you there." She said hesitantly then she felt his anger lighten.

"So tell me what's your name.' He asked the girl calmly.

"My name is Gemini Burn." She quickly said though she didn't know why she was so nervous despite the butterflies she felt in her stomach. After a little chat, she later excused herself then left for the bathroom. The thought of leaving had left her once she met this god-like man and a voice convinced her to stay a little longer, on the other hand, the male waited patiently, he couldn't deny the little feeling he had for the girl he bumped into earlier and there was something special about her that attracted his attention.

"So Layton is that the girl?" The beta Strider asked as he pats the alpha on the back. Layton thought heavily he had to admit he was falling for the clumsy girl.

"Even so do you think she would be a great leader, I mean she seems weak." Layton turned to him and smirked.

"She's not weak, she's found some sort of way of hiding her scent."

"What do you mean?" Strider asked.

"I didn't pick up any scent from her, I would have sensed her before she bumped into me. Is she from our clan?" Strider thought he had never seen this girl before but he couldn't be too sure if he said no the alpha would consider her as an outsider.

"Am not really sure, she may be."

"What do you mean you're not sure!? Couldn't you at least be useful for once!!" Layton yelled. Strider knowing Layton's short temper he faced the ground

"Am sorry it's just hard to keep track sometimes but I'll try. Forgive me." Layton tried to ease his temper knowing Strider to be his close friend so he let it slip off him.
