Chapter 3 Burned Intentionally

The person who came turned out to be William's sister, Emily Davis.

"After losing so much blood, I thought you wouldn't wake up," Emily's tone was sharp, holding a bowl of hot soup as she walked towards her. "Well, that's just disappointing."

Emily continued saying, "I should also be grateful for saving my sister-in-law's life. Ms. Taylor has been in jail for five years and has been kicked out of the Taylor family. I bet you haven't had anything good to eat. Here, have this bowl of ginseng chicken soup to nourish your body."

"Sister-in-law --" Jessica unconsciously muttered.

"Of course, sister-in-law refers to Mia Hughes, don't you think I'm referring to you?" Emily sneered and looked at her with disdain. "When the Davis Group was in financial crisis, if it wasn't for you to propose that my brother marry you before investing, it would have been Mia who married him. Now that my brother's three-year mourning period for his mother has passed, the next step is to marry Mia."

"Their wedding is scheduled for next month. Since you're out of prison now, do you have any free time to attend?" said Emily, taking step by step towards Jessica. Her original intention was to hand over the bowl of ginseng chicken soup, but suddenly, she paused and raised her hand high, pouring the entire bowl of hot soup onto Jessica's body.

"Ah --" Jessica cried out in pain as scalding hot soup seared into her skin, instantly soaking a large area of her hospital robe. Her back burned with the intense heat.

"Does it hurt?" Emily looked at her in pain and laughed, slowly approaching her with full hatred in her eyes. "Taylor, you know, I've wanted to do this for a long time! Do you think you're still the high and mighty miss of the Taylor Group? Do you think you still have the ability to cripple my fiancé? Or dig up my mother's grave and hit her again? Without the protection of the Taylor Group, you're just trash. I can squash you like a bug if I want. You caused me agony, and I will make you pay for it a thousand and ten thousand times over!

Jessica was splashed and hurt so much that she couldn't bear it, breathing heavily again and again.

She should have known better. She once had someone break Emily's fiancé's legs, and Emily had been holding a grudge ever since. How could she have thought that Emily would be so kind as to bring her chicken soup to make her feel better while she was hospitalized?

But if Jessica had to admit that she was wrong to force William to marry her by using the survival of the Davis Group as leverage, and there was no way to explain her involvement in the death of William's mother.

But Jessica had forgotten how many times she had explained that Emily's fiancé had been crippled by people she sent because there was a reason for it.

"Ms. Davis, you don't have to hate me. The reason I sent someone to beat him up was only because --" Jessica explained again.

"Because what?" Emily's voice suddenly became sharp. "Are you going to say that you had him beaten up because he was a scumbag who betrayed me? Taylor, how long are you going to keep telling these easily debunked lies? You killed my mother, ruined my brother's and my happiness. As a woman with such a venomous heart, how do you even have the audacity to keep living in this world? So many people die every single day, yet here you are, still breathing."

Emily became more and more agitated as she spoke, and she picked up the soup bowl in her hand, ready to smash it on Jessica's head. Jessica knew she couldn't dodge it in time, so she had to put her hand up to block it.

But to Jessica's surprise, the soup bowl shattered on the ground with a loud noise, yet she didn't feel any pain at all.

Jessica lowered her arm that had blocked her forehead, but was shocked by what she saw. Emily was standing in front of her with blood on her forehead, and the next second, William pushed the door open and walked in.
