Chapter 6
Ji’lahni’s POV: continued
As for my hair I always keep the sides cut very low with a design on the side and the top was in braids. The entire dress had sparkly rhinestone trimming that shined whenever the lights hit it. Now Shawna always had the perfect fat girl shape where everything was in the right places, she choose a form fitted blood red sleeveless dress with a sweetheart neckline again trimmed with diamond rhinestones with a deep side split. Her dress exposed her back tattoo of angel wings that expand the length of her shoulder and sometimes when she moves a certain way it looks like the wings moves. Then there is Mina, she was smaller than her older cousins, but she was also shorter she had a stomach as well, but she was smaller everywhere else, so she wore a royal blue long sleeve front drape dress that drape down the front, which exposed her nice boobs, yet hid her stomach just right. The dress was backless which showed off her spine tattoo which was a flying dragon that looked like it was flying up her spine. All and all we looked damn good. And the best part is was the dresses doubled as out dance outfits. The bottom had a secret Velcro that allowed us to remove the bottom of the dresses to expose a flowy skirt that would flow and moved in tune with our bodies. We did it this way, because we didn’t want to have to go through the whole dress change process. We would remove our shoes and replace them with soft dance shoes that matched our dresses.
As we were walking in the front entrance, everyone seemed to stop talking just to stare at us, making it real weird. Shit we were looking at each other like, damn do we have something on our faces. I mean I get we were out of towners, but to stare so hard was just weird as hell. “What the hell are they staring at? Are we supposed to be dancing now?” Mina whispered, as she smiled at people. “The hell if I know, shit we’re the only black people in here, that may be why they’re looking at us. All I know is I’m about to sit my ass down at the closest table, I don’t care whose table it is.” I whispered back, walking slowly to the nearest table. From the front of the room, we spot Lateri running toward us in her white ballgown dress that looked kind of like the dresses queens wore in the 1800’s. I know that dress is heavy as hell, but she’s running like it was light as a feather and the poor girls who were trying to make sure her train stayed straight, were trying to keep up. “There is my chocolate drops yall look so beautiful, you’re gonna make an old lady cry. I love those dresses they look perfect on you guys, turn around and let me see.” Lateri said, beaming and we obeyed even though we were blushing, because everyone was still staring, but Lateri acted like we were the only ones in the room. “You guys look so beautiful, now come on dinner is about to be served, and I put you girls at the front with me, my mate, our son, and his best friends, whenever they get here.” Lateri said as she grabbed our hands and dragged us between the tables with people still staring and I hear a now familiar growl and turn to see none other than Shadow killer staring holes in Shawna’s head as we passed by him.
When we reached our table Lateri reintroduced us to her mate Antoni Crystal which just like Lateri he was supposed to be sixty-seven years old but he damn sure will have to prove his not forty. We only saw him twice while they visited South Carolina but he was always so nice and friendly, he clearly loved Lateri because he was always touching her or looking like he was in love for the first time. “Hi young ladies nice to see you again. Lateri was absolutely right, you girls look beautiful tonight.” He said getting up pulling our chairs out to seat us. He was such a gentleman. " Thank you.” We all said at the same time blushing like little girls do when their fathers tell them they’re beautiful. Once seated everyone seemed to go back to their conversations. “I hope you girls liked the food that I picked. I wanted to have some of your southern food added to the menu to make sure we had things you liked.” she said proudly. “Awe, momma Teri you didn’t have to do that, we would love to try some of your traditional foods. We don't want people to think you went out of your way to accommodate us.” I said shyly. “Oh, hush up sweetie I don’t care what anyone thinks if they have a problem with the food they could leave right now.” Lateri said loud enough that I’m sure twelve of the twenty-four tables heard her. We tried to disappear at that moment, but it didn’t work so we focused on our nice silverware. Until the moment passed. “I don’t know where the hell Kahi is, I swear Antoni if he misses our anniversary dinner, I will wring his neck.” Lateri said angerly.
“Now, you know he will be here when he can be had a really important meeting that couldn’t be postponed. Please understand honey don’t be too hard on him if he misses it. You know he would be here if he could.” Antoni said, pulling Lateri in to comfort her, as she silently agreed. “And you have your girls here with us to celebrate, that’s something right?” He added. “You’re right honey, I am happy as a clam because you girls are here.” She smiled just as the servers came by placing our plates in front of us. She wasn’t playing when she said she picked foods she thought we would like. That plate had baked chicken, baked Mac and cheese, and what looked to be cabbage. It smelled and looked delicious, and it tasted great to she really went all out. We wanted to eat everything on that plate, but we couldn’t because we had to perform in 30 minutes but I damn sure hope they did leftover carryout. But I wouldn’t dare to ask because I do know how to act around rich folks. “Momma Teri the food was amazing.” Mina said after dinner was removed. “I’m so glad you liked it.” Teri smiled, she then got up and grabbed our hands dragging us around each table introducing us to everyone as her adopted daughters. For the most part everyone was civil, but we could tell a lot of the older and younger women gave us nasty looks when Lateri wasn’t looking. But we just gave them our winning smile because we could care less what they thought of us. Lateri got called away while introducing us to a table filled with women that looked around our age, but they all were athletic build females like they worked out in their sleep too. When Lateri was out of ear shot, one of them decided she had something to say to us.
“Damn you guys aren’t ashamed dressing like little fat sluts. Nobody wants to see all that fat hanging out.” She sneered at us. As the other girls laughed. We looked at each other and laughed too, shit. “What are yall laughing for I was talking about yall.” The same bitch spoke again. “We’re laughing because you really think calling us fat sluts was going to somehow shame or humiliate us in front of your little friends. Aaaahhhhh sweetie we don’t care about you or your friends enough to even, remotely give a shit, about what you think of us. You tried it though. How old are you five?” I said still laughing. “Cuz, she real emotional about three chick’s she doesn’t know. Have you been sitting here thinking about us this whole time? When we didn’t even know you existed until a few seconds ago and you will be forgotten in three, two. Were we just talking to somebody cuz?” Mina asked, looking at me. “Shit I thought so...but I real life can’t even remember. They must have been people we could give two shits about because we can’t even remember what they looked like.” I said and we started laughing all over again walking away from the table before we have to show our asses in here. And we not trying to ruin Lateri’s dinner. Lateri found us standing in the back of the room minutes later. “What are yall doing way back here? Was someone rude to you? She turned looking at the table we left, and the girls were trying their best to be invisible. Before she could walk off and to hand them their asses, I grabbed her. “no one said anything to us. We just decided to walk to the back to wait for you because it’s almost time for us to perform.” I said, praying that she believed me. She eyed us for a few seconds trying to use the jet eye mind trick on us or something, but she decided to believe us and took us backstage to get ready to perform. I suddenly became super nervous. I pray to God I don’t mess up. Oh well, too late to turn back now. Let’s do it.
