Chapter 3 Settling Score

The two kids were twins, three years old, and Sienna had been gone for five years. So, it was clear she had settled abroad and had kids during that time.

Alexander felt nothing but anger. She had played him, left without a word, and now, five years later, she was back with someone else's kids. And these two boys were so rude.

What they didn't know was that when the two children met Alexander's gaze, Sienna's back was drenched in cold sweat from nervousness.

When she left Emerald City and went abroad, she found out she was pregnant within a month. At that time, Sienna thought maybe it was God's way of sending her angels because she had been struggling alone for too long.

Sienna had just started at the research institute, with a low and unstable salary, not even past her probation period. She couldn't possibly take care of children alone, but she decided to have them anyway.

However, things went wrong. Sienna had a premature birth while completing an experiment, and what was supposed to be twins turned out to be triplets. Unfortunately, the youngest daughter died from lack of oxygen, and Sienna blamed herself for a long time.

So now, she couldn't let the Knight family find out these two little ones were Alexander's children. With his temperament, he would never let her keep them.

Sienna forced herself to stay calm and scolded William.

"William, don't be rude!"

Before William could respond, Aria burst into laughter. It was the first time she had seen her grandson so flustered by a three-year-old boy, and she found it amusing.

"There, there, why argue with a child? Alexander, it seems even kids don't like you. Come on, little boys, let's go inside and eat something delicious! Haven, set the table, my guests are hungry!"

When Layla first saw the two children, she felt a sense of familiarity, as if she had seen them somewhere before. But knowing they were Sienna's sons, she felt only disgust.

Back inside, Layla spoke with displeasure, "Mom, don't act so chummy. We have no relation to Ms. Blake. It's inappropriate for her to stay here. She should find somewhere else to stay."

Layla's words were harsh, making Aria unhappy.

"If you don't like them, you can go back to your own house. This is my home, and I can decide who stays here. Besides, Sienna came back from abroad specifically to treat me. If she doesn't stay here, where do you suggest she stays?"

Layla found it absurd and her voice turned sharp.

"Treat you? Sienna didn't even graduate from medical school. Who can she treat? I think she's a fraud, bringing someone else's illegitimate children to our Knight Manor to scam us!"

Calling her sons illegitimate children and accusing her of scamming, Layla infuriated Sienna.

Before she could speak, Henry stepped in.

"My mommy is not a fraud. She is a senior researcher at Nova Research Institute. At Nova, senior researchers are postdocs! My mommy didn't drop out; she was directly admitted to a PhD program abroad! Ma'am, we are not illegitimate. Please watch your words!"

Henry's small face was cold, his gaze icy as he looked at Layla, making her feel uneasy. She was stunned, wondering why she was afraid of a child's gaze.

William was even more indignant, "How dare you say my mom's here to scam money? You should find out how many people are waiting for her help. If she wanted to make money, there are plenty of rich folks lining up. But you, despite your age, have less sense than a kid. Do you think Nova Research Institute is a joke?"

Layla had never been spoken to like this. As Mrs. Knight, she was respected in Emerald City and among the wealthy circles in the whole country. Now, two three-year-old boys were calling her a fool?

Seeing Layla about to explode, Sienna stepped in and took the children's hands.

"Alright, you two, didn't mommy tell you to respect your elders? Mrs. Layla Knight doesn't know about Nova Research Institute, which isn't surprising. After all, besides beauty treatments and shopping, she probably doesn't understand much else."

William clung to Sienna's leg, climbing up until she held him in her arms.

"Mommy, it's good you have two smart sons. Let's not get infected by such foolish genes. Let's go inside!"

Sienna kissed William's forehead, then looked down at her eldest son, seeing his hostile gaze towards Layla. It made her sad.

If Layla knew these two children she called illegitimate were her own grandsons, how would she feel?

But none of that mattered now. As long as her sons were okay, Sienna could endure anything.

"Arguing with children at your age, really impressive! Sienna, come on, I've had food prepared. Let's eat and then get some rest. After a long flight, you must be exhausted." Aria said.

Sienna nodded, accepting Aria's kindness, and followed her to the dining room. The table was already set, so she took the kids to wash their hands and faces, then brought out their utensils, disinfected them, and served their food.

The two little ones had developed these habits from a young age. Watching William and Henry eat obediently, especially William who ate with great appetite, Alexander felt a mix of emotions.

Aria and Daniel, on the other hand, treated the children like treasures, constantly giving them food.

"Aria, Daniel, they have a set amount they can eat. If they eat too much, they'll get indigestion..."

Sienna couldn't stand it anymore, seeing William's belly so full it looked like it might burst.

Aria finally put down her spoon, but she still doted on the children without limits.

"From now on, whatever these two like to eat, just tell the kitchen. No need to be polite here!"

Sienna wiped the children's mouths with a napkin, seeing they had eaten a lot. She figured she would need to walk them around to help with digestion, or they would have trouble sleeping.

"I'll take them for a walk in the garden. Once they're asleep, I'll check on you."

After dinner, Sienna took the kids for a walk in the garden. The Knight Manor was vast, with the Knight family owning the surrounding 10 miles. Besides the garden, there was a plantation. Aria loved growing vegetables, and there were greenhouses. The two little ones, discovering this new world, ran straight over.

"Mommy, this place is so beautiful. Come look! Hey, you, why are you here?"

Following William's voice, Sienna saw Alexander standing not far away. Instinctively, she shielded the children behind her.

Alexander walked straight towards her, "Sienna, don't you think it's time we settled our score?"
